Book excerpt: Commander Kieron Phillips is very much looking forward to holidaying on the ocean waves and the chance to catch up with his adapted Syrian daughter, a dancer onboard the cruise ship. However, he realises all too quickly that there was nothing coincidental about him being on board this specific voyage on this exact week, and he has no idea who to trust. From the official 5* bookclub review - Awarded 'Book of the Day' and a glowing official 5-star review by the American OnlineBookClub.org. Multi-award-winning screenwriter and movie director Stuart St Paul delivers a crime drama set at sea that feels frighteningly real. … The plot of the story was complex and had much depth to it; it presented this giant riddle with many unpredictable facets. The story carried intrigue right from when Commander Kieron Philips was introduced at the airport. His character gave off waves of mystery and intrigue with the peculiar situation in which he found himself… Kieron was the tangy combination of the good cop and the bad cop. He was the guy you wanted in your corner when things got ugly because he wasn't afraid to get his hands dirty. His character stood out because of his keen eye for foul play, bravery, and kindness. More so, the author gave a lot of insight into Kieron's thoughts and the complicated mental process of solving the mystery that lived on the cruise ship. Another impressive character was Hunter Witowski, the cruise ship's head of security. He had a dry humour that belied his tough exterior. He was one character I didn't expect to like, but he became one of my favourites. It was fun to see the wordplay between the characters. Cruise Ship Heist was action-packed, suffused with danger, murder, and unpredictability. This was one of those stories that would stay with you for a while, as it delivered mystery and intrigue. The book was fun to read; there was no dull moment, and the entire experience was a rollercoaster ride. I enjoyed every part of Cruise Ship Heist. It was professionally edited, and I disliked nothing in it. Therefore, I'd rate it five out of five stars. Cruise Ship Heist would be appreciated by lovers of mystery and thrillers. Full review by Bibliophile onlinebookclub.org Cruise Ship Heist - second edition. Stuart St Paul won Best Director in the USA, a Silver Palm in Mexico, was nominated for a Star & Screen in Mumbai, and his movie Scarlet Tunic was selected in Cannes for official selection at both Cabourg and Verona.

Book Heist Society Collection

Download or read book Heist Society Collection written by Ally Carter and published by Little, Brown Books for Young Readers. This book was released on 2021-04-06 with total page 871 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Kat Bishop can steal anything—including your heart. Read all three books in the New York Times bestselling Heist Society series, filled with intrigue, adventure, romance, and charm. In Heist Society, Katarina has been a part of the family business—thieving—for as long as she can remember. When Kat tries to leave "the life" for a normal life, her old friend Hale conspires to bring her back into the fold. Why? A mobster's art collection has been stolen, and Kat's father is the only suspect. Caught between Interpol and a far more deadly enemy, Kat's dad needs her help. The only solution is to find the paintings and steal them back. Kat's got two weeks, a teenage crew, and hopefully enough talent to pull off the biggest heist in her family's history—and, with any luck, steal her life back along the way. In Uncommon Criminals, Katarina Bishop has worn a lot of labels in her short life. Friend. Niece. Daughter. Thief. But for the last two months she's simply been known as the girl who robbed the greatest museum in the world. That's why Kat isn't surprised when she's asked to steal the infamous Cleopatra Emerald so it can be returned to its rightful owners. There are only three problems. First, the gem is owned by the most secure auction house in the world. Second, since the fall of the Egyptian empire and the suicide of Cleopatra, no one who holds the emerald keeps it for long, and in Kat's world, history almost always repeats itself. But it's the third problem that makes Kat's crew the most nervous: the emerald is cursed. Kat might be in way over her head, but she's not going down without a fight. After all she has her best friend—the gorgeous Hale—and the rest of her intrepid crew with her as they chase the Cleopatra Emerald around the world, realizing that the same tricks and cons her family has used for centuries are useless this time. Which just means that Katarina Bishop is going to have to make up her own rules. In Perfect Scandals,it’s clear that Katarina Bishop and W.W. Hale the fifth were born to lead completely different lives. Kat comes from a long, proud line of loveable criminal masterminds, while Hale is the scion of one of the most seemingly perfect dynasties in the world. If their families have one thing in common, it's that they both know how to stay under the radar while getting—or stealing—whatever they want. No matter the risk, the Bishops can always be counted on, but in Hale's family, all bets are off when money is on the line. When Hale unexpectedly inherits his grandmother's billion-dollar corporation, he quickly learns that there's no place for Kat in his new role. But Kat won't let him go that easily, especially after she gets tipped off that his grandmother's will might have been altered in an elaborate con to steal the company's fortune. So instead of being the heir, this time Hale might be the mark. Forced to keep a level head as she and her crew fight for one of their own, Kat is prepared to do the impossible, but first, she has to decide if she's willing to save her boyfriend's company even if it means losing the boy.

Book Contemporary Maritime Piracy

Download or read book Contemporary Maritime Piracy written by James Kraska and published by Bloomsbury Publishing USA. This book was released on 2011-06-02 with total page 278 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume provides a concise introduction to the issues and debates regarding modern piracy, including naval operations, law, and diplomacy, and focuses on the recent surge of attacks off the coasts of Africa and Asia. In the past decade, the incidence of maritime piracy has exploded. The first three months of 2011 were the worst ever, with 18 ships hijacked, 344 crew taken hostage, and 7 crew members murdered. The four Americans on board the sailing vessel Quest were shot at point-blank range. The economic costs are also staggering, reaching $7 to $12 billion per year, as insurance costs skyrocket, ransoms double and then quadruple, and ships are forced to hire armed security for protection. Pirates operating off the Horn of Africa disrupt shipping traffic through the strategic Suez Canal, siphoning transit fees from an unstable Egypt, while the seizure of supertankers in the Indian Ocean underscores the vulnerability of the world's oil supply. Governments, private industry, and international organizations have mobilized to address the threat. This is the first volume to examine their work in developing naval strategy, international law and diplomacy, and industry guidelines to suppress contemporary maritime piracy. Contemporary Maritime Piracy: International Law, Strategy, and Diplomacy at Sea comprises three sections, the first of which contains chapters on historical and contemporary piracy, international law and diplomacy, and coalition strategies for combating future piracy. The second and third parts provide collections of historic profiles and relevant documents.
