This book was released on 2005-12-09 with total page 194 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is a collection of selected reviewed papers that were presented at the International Union of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics Symposium "Mechanical waves for composite structures characterization". The Symposium took place June 14-17, 2000 in Chania, Crete, Greece. As is customary, IUTAM Symposia Proceedings are published in the series "Solid Mechanics and Its Applications" by Kluwer Academic Publishers. I am indebted to Professor G. M. L. Gladwell who is the series editor. I would also like to take this opportunity to express my sincere gratitude to Professor M. A. Hayes the Secretary General of the International Union of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics and a member ofthe Symposium's Scientific Committee. His constant encouragement and support made the Symposium not only possible but also successful. To the success also contributed all the members of the Symposium's Scientific Committee which I had the honor to chair. I express my appreciation to each one of them who are: Professor J. D. Achenbach (Northwestern University, Evanston, Illinois, USA), Professor M. A. Hayes (University College, Dublin, Ireland), Professor K. J. Langenberg (University of Kassel, Germany), Professor A. K. Mal (University of California, Los Angeles, USA), Professor X. Markenscoff (University of California, San Diego, USA), Professor S. Nair (Illinois Institute of Technology, Chicago, USA), Professor R. Book Electromagnetic Nondestructive Evaluation VII

Download or read book Electromagnetic Nondestructive Evaluation VII written by Gerd Dobmann and published by IOS Press. This book was released on 2006 with total page 348 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The aim of this selection of papers is to bring together researchers working very deep in the basics of electromagnetic NDT on one hand and industrialist discussing their practical problems on the other hand. The papers cover topics as; Microwave applications and Material Characterization; General Eddy Current Inspection Tasks; Novel Techniques and Sensors; Magnetic Flux leakage Inspection; Steam Generator Eddy Current Inspection Tasks; and Material Characterization. Especially Novel Techniques and Sensors and Material Characterization are discussed on multiple papers. This publication gives a good overview of the many scientific problems in this area, but also explains the actual challenges for the scientific-technical community, like problems with in-line inspection of pipelines or the enhancing of the inspection performance in steam generator tubes inspection in the nuclear field. The material is important for scientists and engineers working in the field of electromagnetic non-destructive testing, in defect detection and sizing, as well as in material characterization.

Book Magnetic Flux Leakage MFL Method for Damage Detection in Internal Post tensioning Tendons

Download or read book Magnetic Flux Leakage MFL Method for Damage Detection in Internal Post tensioning Tendons written by and published by . This book was released on 2021 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The magnetic flux leakage (MFL) method has been identified as a promising non-destructive testing technique for detecting metal loss in external post-tensioned tendons and stay-cables. However, for internal tendons, the interfering signals from secondary ferromagnetic materials, such as mild reinforcement, can generate complicated signals and may lead to inaccurate prediction of damage location and severity. The objective of the study was to identify the improvements to be made on existing MFL technology, both in terms of hardware and testing protocols, which can be implemented for internal tendons in field conditions. A systematic study was conducted to improve the existing MFL system, and a fully functional measurement and magnetizing unit was developed.
