Book excerpt: Excerpt from The Fats and Oils Situation, Vol. 81: November 1943 It is estimated that total milk output in 19nh will be slightly less than in 19h3 if feed supplies are distributed among the several classes of live stock in 19mh as in l9h3. Also fluid milk and cream consumption probably will continue higher than a year earlier even though the upward trend is checked under recent Government orders restricting monthly sales of fluid milk and cream in important fluid milk markets to 100 percent and 75 percent, respectively, of June 19h3 sales. Butter production (including farm butter) in the 12 months beginning October i9h3 is now expected to total about million pounds, 7 percent less than a year earlier. This book was released on 2018-03-19 with total page 42 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Fats and Oils Outlook and Situation, Vol. 304: July 1981 Preliminary projections of world oilseed pro duction indicate a record million metric tons, up 7 percent from this year's harvest. Most of the increase is due to larger soybean crops forecast for the United States and Mexico. Increases are also expected for Brazil and Argentina, even though crops in those countries have not yet been planted. Larger sunflower seed produc tion in the United States, ussr, and Eastern and Western Europe and rising peanut output in this country and Senegal account for much of the remaining projected increase. The favorable production Outlook should mean greater use of oilseed products, even though a sluggish world economy may limit demand growth for oil meals and vegetable oils. Consequently, little change in global stocks in expected. This year's u.s. Soybean planted acreage is estimated at million acres million hectares), down 2 per cent from 1980. Lower soybean prices relative to feed grains encouraged producers to trim 1981 plantings. This year, about 15 percent of the soybean acreage will be planted following the harvest of another crop, primarily winter wheat. In comparison, 9 percent of last year's acreage was double cropped. Total us. Soybean production is projected at 2 billion bushels million metric tons). This represents a 9 percent increase over last season's output, when drought cut harvested acreage and yields. This book was released on 2018-01-09 with total page 36 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Fats and Oils Outlook and Situation, Vol. 303: May, 1981 Soybean yields in the South Central region tend to deviate from trend less than any other region, with a standard error of bushels per year. If 1981 is 8 nor mal year, then yields will be in the to range. An unusual year could see yields in the South Central region deviating from trend by as much as bushels. If 1981 turns out to be another extreme year, yields in the area will deviate from trend by more than bushels, and production could fluctuate by over 50 million bushels. Based on the definitions presented above for normal, unusual, and extreme years, 1978 was a normal year. Both 1979 and 1980 were extreme years. Yields were extremely high in 1979 and extremely low in 1980. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books. Download or read book The Fats and Oils Situation Vol 174 written by United States Department Of Agriculture and published by Forgotten Books. This book was released on 2018-03-18 with total page 38 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from The Fats and Oils Situation, Vol. 174: Sept. 26, 1955 Supplies of food fats in the marketing year beginning October 1, 1955 will be about as large as the year before with increased output offsetting a sharp reduction in beginning stocks. Pore soybean oil and lard will be produced since the 1955 soybean crop is the largest of record and slaughter of hogs is increasing. However, cottonseed oil production will be down because of the 7 percent reduction in the 1955 cotton crop. Prices received by farmers for 1955 crop cottonseed probably will average above the CCC purchase price of $112 per ton, basis grade but less than the 660 received for the 1951; crop. Prices of cottonseed oil and meal are down from a year ago and are expected to continue lower than a year ago at least through the winter. Production of peanuts is up 65 percent from the small cr0p in 19511 and supplies in 1955-56 again will be plentiful in contrast with the year before. CCC will acquire a substantial quantity and prices are likely to average near the support program loan value. This book was released on 2018-03-22 with total page 44 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from The Fats and Oils Situation, Vol. 202: May 1960 Output of food fats during april-september, the second half of the 1959-60 season, will decline seasonally but is expected to be about the same as last year. An increase over last year for cottonseed Oil and a slight increase for butter will make up for the decline in lard. Little change is expected in soybean oil production. During the first half of the current marketing year, production of food fats was 9 percent greater than a year earlier. The gain mainly reflected sharp increases in cottonseed Oil and lard. Domestic disappearance of food fats during the first 6 months of the present marketing year was at a record level, and about 1 percent above a year ago. Increases for margarine and shortening slightly more than Offset de clines in butter, direct use of lard and salad and cooking Oils. As usual, domestic use of food fats will decline seasonally during april-september, but probably will not differ much from last year's level. Book excerpt: Excerpt from The Fats and Oils Situation, Vol. 158: Nov.-Dec. 1952-Jan. 1953 Supplies of food fats in the current crop year are at a record level. Production is down compared with last year but stocks on October 1, the beginning of the crop year, were larger. Total disappearance, domestic plus exports, may be somewhat less than the year before and some increase in ending stocks probably will take place. The price depressing effect on vegetable oils of these large supplies, however, are being counter-balanced by the large quantities of cottonseed oil acquired by CCC under the support program for cottonseed. The R values indicate that the equations explained between 90 and 99 percent of the regional variation in soybean acreage over the his toric period, Table 1. Since the equations were estimated using data only through the crop year, one test of the validity of the model would be to compare the model's forecast of acreage planted in 1980 to the actual acreage planted. Summing the regional forecasts for 1980 resulted in a national forecast of million acres. Actual plantings were million acres. The model overestimated plantings by million acres or slightly less than two percent. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books.
