There is a concern on how employees are rewarded by the way of promotion in the MOESVTEE in Kabwe District. Some teachers complain that, underserving teachers are those that get promoted at the expense of other hardworking teachers. The research used teacher’s effort, ability, role perception and performance as independent variables with promotion as the dependent variable. A cross sectional survey, structured questionnaire, simple random sampling was used to collect the data and multiple regression was used to analyze the data using mega start. Data was collected from 123 head-teachers, deputy-teachers and teachers using a questionnaire survey. Data was analyzed into two stages firstly it was checked for validity, reliability, identification outliners and normality of the data. Secondly multiple regression was conducted to test the hypotheses. Results from the survey indicate that, the Performance Appraisal system for teachers in Kabwe District is not effective. However, promotion practices were found to influence performance of teachers in the District. Teachers in the District have a negative perception on how promotions are carried out.

Enrollment in primary education has grown rapidly in Sub-Saharan Africa. Yet teacher policy in the region has oft en evolved without clear planning; in the absence of an overall strategy, countries have experienced serious problems with teacher supply and deployment, as well as with the quality of teaching. Based on case studies of education systems and practices in eight English-speaking African countries, 'Teachers in Anglophone Africa: Issues in Teacher Supply, Training, and Management' closely examines issues of teacher supply, deployment, management and finance. The book suggests that these issues are closely interrelated. Low numbers of qualified teaching graduates may result in teacher shortages; these shortages may make it difficult to deploy teachers effectively. Problems with teacher deployment may result in inefficient utilization of the teachers available, and those teachers' effectiveness may be further reduced by weak teacher management and support systems. The book identifies policies and practices that are working on the ground, noting their potential pitfalls and pointing out that policies designed to address one problem may make another problem worse. Research conducted by Zambia Consolidated Copper Mine Investment Holding show that 35 per cent of Kabwe's population in Chowa, Kasanda and Katondo is exposed to high levels of lead. This prompted ZCCM-IH to conduct sensitizations and encourage formation of lead treatment support groups. However, data has continued to show a high number of children being diagnosed with lead poisoning. Therefore, the research attempted to assess the levels of knowledge on lead poisoning among the residents of kabwe District. The general objective of the research was to assess knowledge on lead poisoning among the Adult population of Chowa, Kasanda and Katondo in Kabwe District in order to identify areas where knowledge is lacking and help effectively direct public health and environmental related programs in Kabwe District Data was collected using Questionnaires that were given to each of the participants who were recruited in the research. The questionnaires were a Likert-type scale in section A and open ended in section B. Eighty six (86) participants that included adult male and female participants were recruited. Quantitative data was analyzed using Excel and Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS).
