Book The Effect of Long term Aging on the Impact Properties of Modified 9Cr 1Mo Steel

Download or read book The Effect of Long term Aging on the Impact Properties of Modified 9Cr 1Mo Steel written by and published by . This book was released on 1992 with total page 7 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Charpy impact and room-temperature tensile properties of two heats of modified 9Cr-1Mo steel have been examined after aging at temperatures from 482 to 704C for times up to 75,000 h. In general, aging at lower temperatures (482, 538, or 593C) resulted in little change in the room-temperature tensile properties, but rapid increases in the transition temperature, with the greatest increase for an aging time of 25,000 h. The upper-shelf energy level decreased, reaching a minimum at 25,000 h, followed by recovery at 50,000-h aging. At higher aging temperatures (649 and 704C) there was little change in the transition temperatures, but significant softening at room temperature, and large increases in the upper-shelf energy.

Book The Influence of Thermal Aging on the Microstructure and Fatigue Properties of Modified 9Cr 1Mo Steel

Download or read book The Influence of Thermal Aging on the Microstructure and Fatigue Properties of Modified 9Cr 1Mo Steel written by and published by . This book was released on 1992 with total page 10 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Results of elevated-temperature low cycle fatigue and creep-fatigue tests are for one heat of modified 9Cr-1Mo steel in the normalized and tempered condition, after pre-aging 50,000 h at 538 and 593C, and after pre-aging for 75,000 h at 538C. These data show that pre-aging reduces the low cycle fatigue and creepfatigue lives in comparison to unaged material. The magnitude of these reductions are discussed along with the impact of pre-aging on the creep-fatigue damage diagrams. The effect of environment on creep-fatigue life of unaged modified 9Cr-1Mo steels is also addressed. Transmission electron microscopy explains changes in mechanical properties due to thermal aging. In the unaged alloy, TEM shows that dynamic recovery/recrystallization is occurring after significant strain-induced dislocation hardening around a stationary and stable array of as-tempered carbides during creep-fatigue. In contrast creep-fatigue testing of the pre-aged alloy produced a much coarser cellular subgrain structure and dislocation recovery without recrystallization. Aging causes as-tempered carbide dissolution and/or reprecipitation together with additional precipitation of Laves (Fe2Mo) phase, which removes some of the precipitate-strengthening effects, and depletes solid-solution hardening effects on the dislocation networks and subgrain boundary structures.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This proceedings volume gathers selected papers presented at the Chinese Materials Conference 2017 (CMC2017), held in Yinchuan City, Ningxia, China, on July 06-12, 2017. This book covers a wide range of energy conversion and storage materials, thermoelectric materials and devices, nuclear materials, solar energy materials and solar cells, minerals and oil and gas materials, photocatalytic materials for energy production, eco-materials, and environmental engineering materials. The Chinese Materials Conference (CMC) is the most important serial conference of the Chinese Materials Research Society (C-MRS) and has been held each year since the early 1990s. The 2017 installment included 37 Symposia covering four fields: Advances in energy and environmental materials; High performance structural materials; Fundamental research on materials; and Advanced functional materials. More than 5500 participants attended the congress, and the organizers received more than 700 technical papers. Based on the recommendations of symposium organizers and after peer reviewing, 490 papers have been included in the present proceedings, which showcase the latest original research results in the field of materials, achieved by more than 300 research groups at various universities and research institutes.

Book 9 12Cr Heat Resistant Steels

Download or read book 9 12Cr Heat Resistant Steels written by Wei Yan and published by Springer. This book was released on 2015-05-27 with total page 223 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: With China becoming a major force in steel research and development, this book highlights the work of a group from the Chinese Academy of Sciences, led by the first four authors. This group has the ideal knowledge base for writing this updated book on heat-resistant steels. The fifth author, Sha, based in the UK, has been collaborating with the Chinese group since 2009 and is the lead or sole author of four research books, all published in English. The last book, “Steels: from materials science to structural engineering,” was published by Springer in 2013. Within two months of its publication, researchers at the University of Science and Technology Liaoning had requested translation of the book into Chinese. Springer obliged, and the Chinese version was published by the Metallurgical Industry Press, Beijing, in August 2014. Sha has organized and completed the writing of the proposed book, though the main research was done in China.

Book excerpt: Steels and computer-based modelling are fast growing fields in materials science as well as structural engineering, demonstrated by the large amount of recent literature. Steels: From Materials Science to Structural Engineering combines steels research and model development, including the application of modelling techniques in steels. The latest research includes structural engineering modelling, and novel, prototype alloy steels such as heat-resistant steel, nitride-strengthened ferritic/martensitic steel and low nickel maraging steel. Researchers studying steels will find the topics vital to their work. Materials experts will be able to learn about steels used in structural engineering as well as modelling and apply this increasingly important technique in their steel materials research and development.

Book Microstructure and Mechanical Properties of Structural Metals and Alloys

Download or read book Microstructure and Mechanical Properties of Structural Metals and Alloys written by Andrey Belyakov and published by MDPI. This book was released on 2019-06-24 with total page 272 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The papers collected in this special issue clearly reflect the modern research trends in materials science. These fields of specific attention are high-Mn TWIP steels, high-Cr heat resistant steels, aluminum alloys, ultrafine grained materials including those developed by severe plastic deformation, and high-entropy alloys. The major portion of the collected papers is focused on the mechanisms of microstructure evolution and the mechanical properties of metallic materials subjected to various thermo-mechanical, deformation or heat treatments. Another large portion of the studies is aimed on the elaboration of alloying design of advanced steels and alloys. The changes in phase content, transformation and particle precipitation and their effect on the properties are also broadly presented in this collection, including the microstructure/property changes caused by irradiation.
