This book was released on 2019-03-29 with total page 114 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Dalmatian is a large breed of dog that originates from Croatia. The breed is most noted for its highly unique black, or liver, spotted coat which has earned the breed the nicknames of 'Plum Pudding Dog' and the 'Leopard Carriage Dog.' Despite the breed originating from Croatia, the Dalmatian was mainly developed and cultivated in the United Kingdom. In 1890 the United Kingdom was the first country to actually have an official Dalmatian club and breed standard. The Dalmatian were originally used for a plethora of different tasks: as dogs of war, as guard dogs and as companion dogs. The modern day Dalmatian still has a high instinct to guard its owners and will be friendly and loyal to people it knows but often aloof with strangers and unknown dogs. In the early 1900s, the Dalmatian started to be used in sporting hunts as was used as a bird dog, trail hound, a retriever and in packs to hunt wild boar or stags. It was discovered that Dalmatians and horses are very compatible, and the Dalmatian soon was used to run in front of horse drawn carriages to clear a path for the horses. As the breed's large amount of working roles suggests, the Dalmatian is a highly adaptable and intelligent breed that is capable of being trained to do nearly any job. The Dalmatian is born with a solid white coat and they slowly develop their characteristic spots at around 3 to 4 weeks old - after about a month or two they have developed most of their spots. Most Dalmatian are born with a smooth short coat that sheds continuously throughout the year. However it is not uncommon for a Dalmatian to be born with a long haired coat - interestingly the long haired Dalmatians shed considerably less than their short haired counterparts. As a whole the Dalmatian is a highly intelligent and affectionate breed that thrives both in working environments and household environments. It is important to well socialize your Dalmatian during its puppyhood to make it less suspicious and aloof with strangers and unknown dogs. Download or read book The Goldador A Complete and Comprehensive Owners Guide To Buying Owning Health Grooming Training Obedience Understanding and written by Michael Stonewood and published by Independently Published. This book was released on 2019-04-03 with total page 112 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Goldador is a relatively new breed of dog that has been developed within the last two decades. The Goldador is a mix of both the Labrador Retriever and the Golden Retriever. The aim of the breed's development was to create a sensitive, tolerant, intelligent and highly trainable working dog - the efforts proved to be highly successful! The Goldador is now considered one of the top choices for organizations that train guide and assistance dogs. Despite the Goldador's popularity as an assistance dog, the Goldador is not a popular household pet breed. As of January 2017, there are no breed clubs or breeding standards for the Goldador. The Goldador is a highly alert breed which also means that it makes an excellent watchdog, but the Goldador is also a highly inquisitive and friendly breed which means that it is not a very effective guard dog. The temperament of dogs is normally affected by the following factors: individual personality, heredity, training and socialization. It is therefore important to make sure that you meet the puppy's mother before purchasing a Goldador. It is also important to make sure to thoroughly socialize your Goldador with strangers, children and other animals during its puppyhood. Generally speaking, the Goldador has a desire to please its owner which makes it an incredibly easy breed to train. Despite its unpopularity as a household pet, the Goldador is known to get along well within a household enviroment due to the fact that it gets along well with strangers, children and other animals (providing that it has been socialized properly during its puppyhood). The Goldador has a double coat in a similar fashion to a Labrador Retriever. The breed's top coat is short, thick and straight while its undercoat is soft and dense. Generally the Goldador's coat will range from yellow to gold in coloration. However due to the lack of a breeding standard, the Goldador is also known to occasionally have a reddish brown coat. It is important to note that as a cross between two working breeds, the Goldador has a high amount of energy which needs to be expended. If the Goldador has a buildup of energy it is likely to develop destructive behaviors due to boredom or hyperactivity. The breed is also commonly known as the Russian Wolfhound and the Russian Hunting Sighthound. In Russian the breeds name, 'Borzoi, ' literally translates to 'fast.' As the name suggests the Borzoi is an especially fast moving and athletic breed which is built in a similar shape to the Greyhound. The Borzoi was originally developed to be a sighthound capable of chasing down foxes, hares and other small game and keeping up with horse-mounted hunters. However the breed was quickly used to hunt wolves. Hunters would release two or three Borzoi to pursue a wolf. The dogs would pursue the wolf and attack it from multiple angels. If the Borzoi were successful they would hold the wolf by the neck until the hunter arrived. However, in modern times the Borzoi is mainly found as a domestic household pet. The Borzoi makes a perfect household pet due to its intelligence, loyalty and lack of territorial instinct - which makes the breed very accepting of other animals and strangers. The breed is also known to be very quiet and hardly ever bark. The Borzoi has a long top coat and a shorter, thicker under coat. The breed's coat can come in virtually any coloration. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Icelandic Sheepdog is a breed of dog that is a member of the Spitz typing. The breed is also commonly known as the 'Icelandic Spitz' and the 'Friaar Dog.' The Icelandic Sheepdog very much resembles the bodies of dogs found in graves in Denmark and Sweden dating back to about 8000 B.C. It is therefore believed that the Icelandic Sheepdog is a descendant from Viking dog breeds. The Icelandic Sheepdog is commonly used to herd sheep and other cattle in the Icelandic countryside. When herding, the Icelandic Sheepdog was mainly used to prevent the cattle from straying away from the pack rather than driving the cattle. The Icelandic Sheepdog would tend to bark at animals that began to stray, this barking habit is still present within the Icelandic Sheepdog nature as they tend to bark when they want something. The Icelandic Sheepdog was also used to find and retrieve cattle that got lost in the countryside, which means that the breed is used to working alone and without the presence of humans. The breed was very popular up until the the 19th century where the plague and canine distemper destroyed over 75% of the breed! The breeds number continued to dwindle to the point where the Icelandic Dog Breeder Association (HRFI) was established to preserve the breed. The temperament of dogs is normally affected by the following factors: individual personality, heredity, training and socialization. It is therefore important to make sure that you meet the puppy's mother before purchasing a Icelandic Sheepdog. It is also important to make sure to thoroughly socialize your Icelandic Sheepdog with strangers, children and other animals during its puppyhood. Generally speaking, the Icelandic Sheepdog is an incredibly loyal, friendly and enthusiastic breed. They are also known to be incredibly inquisitive, trainable and intelligent due to their working history. It is important to note that as a working breed, the Icelandic Sheepdog has a high amount of energy which needs to be expended. If the Icelandic Sheepdog has a buildup of energy it is likely to develop destructive behaviors due to boredom or hyperactivity.
