Book The Controversy of Zion and the Time of Jacob s Trouble

Download or read book The Controversy of Zion and the Time of Jacob s Trouble written by Dalton Lifsey and published by . This book was released on 2011 with total page 314 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is centered around the relationship between ethnic Israel and biblical eschatology. For at the heart of biblical eschatology is what Isaiah referred to as "the controversy of Zion" (Isaiah 34:8) and what Jeremiah termed "the time of Jacob's trouble" (Jeremiah 30:7).The "controversy of Zion" refers to the historical continuum of spiritual and natural conflict over the city of Jerusalem; the past, present and future Land of Israel; and the Jewish people whose ancient history and prophetic destiny are inextricably connected. The "time of Jacob's trouble" refers to the Age-ending suffering of the Jewish people and the glorious restoration that follows. It is this time of "trouble" that lays the ancient contention and controversy to rest through the "restoration of the Kingdom to Israel" and the decisive once-and-for-all "judgment of the nations" who take part in the "final" assault on the people and the Land of Israel.

Book excerpt: This book is about the amazing revelation of God’s plan for the whole world. He knows the end from the beginning. The first part of the book encompasses all the aspects of salvation; and the consequences of not accepting his plan of salvation and obeying his word. This is a wonderful eye-opening book that enables us to walk through the corridors of time until we see the New Heaven and earth. It reveals the contrast between the Old and New Testament. This book answers the question of predestination. It also shows that the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit are one.... unequivocally. It tells us what the definition of belief is. Scripture interprets scripture. With any doctrinal truth scattered throughout the Bible, when brought together according to topic, there can be no doubts of the truth of each doctrine. Part two of the book is all about interpreting the book of Revelation. Some of the scriptures have many topics. There are seven topics in Revelation 1:4: These are.... the seven churches; grace; peace; from him which is, and which was, and which is to come, and from the seven spirits: I have capitalized REVELATION and each subsequent TOPIC. The first time I write the scripture I do not put an asterisk in front of REVELATION. After the initial scripture I put an * in the front of every scripture .... *REVELATION until all the topics have been exhausted. EACH NEW SCRIPTURE IN REVELATION IS CAPITALIZED.

Book The Controversy of Zion

Download or read book The Controversy of Zion written by Douglas Reed and published by . This book was released on 2014-04-26 with total page 630 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: It is one of the commonplaces of history that adverse circumstances offer no obstacle to men of outstanding energy and ability. Douglas Reed, who described himself as "relatively unschooled," started out in life as an office boy at the age of thirteen and he was a bank clerk at nineteen before enlisting at the outbreak of World War I. A less promising preparation for a man destined to be one of the most brilliant political analysts and descriptive writers of the century could hardly be imagined. He was already 26 years old when he reached the London Times in 1921 as a telephonist and clerk; and he was 30 when he finally reached journalism as sub-editor. Three years later he became assistant Times corespondent in Berlin before moving on to Vienna as Chief Central European corespondent. Reed broke with the Times in October 1943, near the time of the appearance of a book which was to win him instant world fame: INSANITY FAIR, a charming combination of autobiography and contemporary history. This was followed by more best sellers in quick succession. Commencing in 1951, Douglas Reed spent more than three years writing THE CONTROVERSY OF ZION - all 300,000 words of it. He completed the epilogue in 1956. Although there is correspondence to show that the book was once discussed with his publisher, the manuscript was never submitted, but remained for 22 years stowed away in Reed's home in Durban, South Africa. The question remains. Why?

White and published by Yesterday's World Publishing. This book was released on 2020-02-20 with total page 100 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "The Lord has shown me that Satan was once an honored angel in heaven, next to Jesus Christ. His countenance was mild, expressive of happiness like the other angels. His forehead was high and broad, and showed great intelligence. His form was perfect. He had noble, majestic bearing. And I saw that when God said to his Son, Let us make man in our image, Satan was jealous of Jesus. He wished to be consulted concerning the formation of man. He was filled with envy, jealousy and hatred. He wished to be the highest in heaven, next to God, and receive the highest honors. Until this time all heaven was in order, harmony and perfect subjection to the government of God."-Ellen G White

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Jacob and Esau is a profound new account of two millennia of Jewish European history that, for the first time, integrates the cosmopolitan narrative of the Jewish diaspora with that of traditional Jews and Jewish culture. Malachi Haim Hacohen uses the biblical story of the rival twins, Jacob and Esau, and its subsequent retelling by Christians and Jews throughout the ages as a lens through which to illuminate changing Jewish-Christian relations and the opening and closing of opportunities for Jewish life in Europe. Jacob and Esau tells a new history of a people accustomed for over two-and-a-half millennia to forming relationships, real and imagined, with successive empires but eagerly adapting, in modernity, to the nation-state, and experimenting with both assimilation and Jewish nationalism. In rewriting this history via Jacob and Esau, the book charts two divergent but intersecting Jewish histories that together represent the plurality of Jewish European cultures.

Book The Pearl of Greatest Price

Download or read book The Pearl of Greatest Price written by Terryl Givens and published by Oxford University Press. This book was released on 2019-09-04 with total page 400 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Pearl of Greatest Price narrates the history of Mormonism's fourth volume of scripture, canonized in 1880. The authors track its predecessors, describe its several components, and assess their theological significance within the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Four principal sections are discussed, along with attendant controversies associated with each. The Book of Moses purports to be a Mosaic narrative missing from the biblical version of Genesis. Too little treated in the scholarship on Mormonism, these chapters, produced only months after the Book of Mormon was published, actually contain the theological nucleus of Latter-day Saint doctrines as well as a virtual template for the Restoration Joseph Smith was to effect. In The Pearl of Greatest Price, the author covers three principal parts that are the focus of many of the controversies engulfing Mormonism today. These parts are The Book of Abraham, The Book of Moses, and The Joseph Smith History. Most controversial of all is the Book of Abraham, a production that arose out of a group of papyri Smith acquired, along with four mummies, in 1835. Most of the papyri disappeared in the great Chicago Fire, but surviving fragments have been identified as Egyptian funerary documents. This has created one of the most serious challenges to Smith's prophetic claims the LDS church has faced. LDS scholars, however, have developed several frameworks for vindicating the inspiration of the resulting narrative and Smith's calling as a prophet. The author attempts to make sense of Smith's several, at times divergent, accounts of his First Vision, one of which is canonized as scripture. He also assesses the creedal nature of Smith's "Articles of Faith," in the context of his professed anti-creedalism. In sum, this study chronicles the volume's historical legacy and theological indispensability to the Latter-day Saint tradition, as well as the reasons for its resilience and future prospects in the face of daunting challenges.

Book excerpt: The Biblical Sabbath and its true Calendar... Jews, Seventh-day Adventists and many other Sabbatarians observe the Sabbath on Saturday, basing this practice on the fact that Saturday is the 7th-day of the Gregorian calendar week. But is this truly the Sabbath of the Creator mentioned in the Scriptures? Can a divine institution sanctioned by the Creator of the Heavens and Earth be observed on a calendar that has its roots in paganism, or is there more to the Sabbath question than many honest truth-seeking Christians have dared to ask? This book will reveal why neither Saturday nor Sunday are NOT the 7th-day Sabbath of the Lord. This is the message of the hour!
