For the first three months of the year, Brother Lee remained in Los Angeles, except for a brief visit to San Francisco in late February. From the end of March through the middle of April, he visited Mineral Wells, Waco, Tyler, and Plainview, Texas. From Texas he proceeded to Albuquerque, New Mexico, and then he returned to San Francisco at the end of April. He spent the month of May in Los Angeles. From mid-June to mid-July he visited a number of cities in the Midwest, including Indianapolis, Indiana; Mansfield and Warren, Ohio; East Peoria, Illinois; and Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The only record of his visit to these cities consists of four messages given in Warren, Ohio. The contents of this volume are divided into eleven sections, as follows: 1. Twelve messages given during a training for young people in Taipei, Taiwan, on August 6 through 10. These messages were published previously in Chinese under the title The Lord's Recovery and the Fulfillment of God's Desire. The last two spoken messages were combined. 2. Nine messages given in co-workers' and elders' meetings in Taipei, Taiwan, on August 13 through 17, and in a farewell meeting on August 22. They are included in this volume under the title Turning to the Age of the Spirit. 3. Three messages given to the co-workers and elders in Taiwan in August and September. These messages are included in this volume under the title Fighting for the Truth. 4. Ten messages given in Taipei, Taiwan. The first seven messages were given in island-wide elders' meetings in late September, and the subsequent two messages were given in a church meeting on November 3 and a service meeting on November 4, respectively. Starting with his seminal 1964 study on creativity up to his 2010 publication in Newsweek, the volume spans over four decades of research and writing and clearly shows Csikszentmihalyi’s own development as an academic, psychologist, researcher and person. Unconventional and unorthodox in his approach, Csikszentmihalyi chose the topic of creativity as a field of study believing it would help him be a better psychologist and advance his understanding of how to live a better life. The chapters in this volume trace the history of the study of creativity back to the days of Guilford and research on IQ and Jacob Getzels’ work on creativity and intelligence. Firmly grounded in that history, yet extending it in new directions, Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi started his life-long study on artistic creativity.
