Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Then said they unto him, What shall we do, that we might work the works of God? Jesus answered and said unto them, This is the work of God, that ye believe on him whom he hath sent. John 6:28-29Sometimes, the most natural seeming things are the most Spiritual, for of a truth, there is nothing done in the natural that does not affect the spirit of a man and everything else all around. As a single decision in Paradise caused the fall, so every thought, every act, and every work, whether of the Spirit of God or of the flesh, touches Eternity, because man was Created by Spirit, and the flesh shall pass away. Whatsoever we do unto the least of these, we do unto Him.If we walk by His Spirit, we will not be gratifying the desires of the flesh. For, as we sow to the Spirit, we reap life, but if to the flesh, we will die. This is the Word we have heard from the beginning, that God is light, and in Him is no darkness at all. He is the light, and apart from Him, we can do nothing. As His Word is in our heart, and we choose His Spirit in preference to our own life, a new things comes forth. The true man, Jesus Christ, shines through, and His life is made manifest in our own. What we will become has not yet been made known, but when we see Him, we shall be like Him, for this is the promise of all that follow after Him. Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, but it has been revealed by His Spirit.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst. But I said unto you, That ye also have seen me, and believe not. All that the Father giveth me shall come to me; and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out. For I came down from heaven, not to do mine own will, but the will of him that sent me. And this is the Father's will which hath sent me, that of all which he hath given me I should lose nothing, but should raise it up again at the last day. And this is the will of him that sent me, that every one which seeth the Son, and believeth on him, may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day.John 6:35-40The Kingdom of the Saints in Light is comprised of those who know His Truth and Do it. Apart from Him, we can do nothing, and it is only by His Words that we see life. There is none good but the Father. Only that which is Spirit gives life. It is as we show love, through faith, that the will world change. And, it is only His definition of what love is, as demonstrated on the cross that is right.Jesus told a parable of two sons. Both were told to work, and one said yes, and the other said no. Both changed their minds, and did the opposite. Which one did the will of their father? The one that worked in Truth. Now is the day to be about the Father's business. When we believe, we will work, and those that do not are those who do not believe. The one leads to the other, and in this, we bring glory to the Father by bearing much fruit! Then said I, Lo, I come (in the volume of the book it is written of me,) to do thy will, O God. We long to see the days of the Son of Man, but it is only as we Do Truth that the Kingdom is manifest.
Download or read book The Church of the Beyond vol 6 Life written by Benjamin F Hoogterp and published by Benjamin Hoogterp. This book was released on 2012-12-24 with total page 335 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.John 17:3Ever wonder what makes the difference between having church and having church? I mean, those glory times, where everything seems fresh, clean, and like God's presence is there as something special, unique, and real? What is it about the special and unique touch of the Spirit that makes every time life-changing?This is life, to know Him and to make Him known. There is no other purpose, there is no other destiny, and there is no other calling. Giftings may come or go, but only through Jesus do we come to know the Father (John 14:6).A man asked Jesus what it took to be perfect. Jesus responded, do the commandments. The man replied that he had, and Jesus said he lacked one thing, that he was to sell all, give to the poor, and follow Him. You see, you can't get anywhere without His heart, you have no life in you if you do not have His, His name, His Character, His Will, His desire. It is in giving everything, absolutely everything, that we receive Him, for we must live as He lived, and walk as He walked. In doing this, we show that we are His disciples, and we will abide in His love.It wasn't for a show, and it wasn't for an institution that Jesus died, but He came and lived as a man for men, that we, men and women, might know His true love, be set free from the deceptions of this age, and come to know true life, Eternal life, Himself. For, there is life in no other, nor is there salvation in any other name than Jesus Christ. Whoever believes on Him shall be saved, and all others shall be damned, even as the scriptures say, in Mark 16:16.For to one, He says come, and he comes, and to another do this, and he does it. The greatest key to life could be summed up in one of Jesus' statements, saying that all of the Father's commands lead to life. Even the command to the cross, though it went through death, lead to life, and we live today because of it. Hallelujah! Praise the Lord!
Download or read book Beyond the Ordinary written by Ben Campbell Johnson and published by Wm. B. Eerdmans Publishing. This book was released on 2001 with total page 177 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Over the Past few decades mainline Protestant congregations have not easily embraced the notion of spirituality. As much as any aspect of church life, spirituality has been misunderstood, misused, and resisted by both clergy and laity. Yet times are changing. Today many people feel a deep spiritual hunger and are out looking for fulfillment in a wide variety of settings. In this new context, mainline congregations need to awaken to the presence of the Spirit in their midst and equip leaders to nurture both the personal and corporate spirituality of their congregations. Beyond the Ordinary is explicitly written to help church leaders who have had no formal training in spiritual formation. Drawing from years of experience teaching Christian spirituality, Ben Campbell Johnson and Andrew Dreitcer explore the spiritual dimensions of leadership, looking in depth at the meaning of spirituality as it relates to the tasks of ministry. This friendly, inspiring book will enable readers to erase the negative stereotypes of spirituality and develop vital models and practices for the church today. The book introduces a faithful understanding and practice of the spiritual life to those who have not yet dipped into the well that is Christian spirituality. For those who have already tasted this water and still thirst, it offers a way to dip even more deeply. Chapters discuss the issues surrounding a meaningful spirituality for our changing times, the importance of holding prayer and mission in tension, and the crucial role of Scripture in the formation of our lives. The authors also underscore the importance of vision, myth, and discernment in the spiritual life of the church. And they discuss the power of spiritual practices like discernment and visioning for enhancing the spirituality of congregations and helping them become agents of social transformation. Intended for personal and group use by pastors, elders, other church leaders, and those preparing for service in the church, the book includes questions for reflection and discussion as well as journaling exercises to encourage learning and growth.

Download or read book Beyond the Visible Church written by Florian Klug and published by Liturgical Press. This book was released on 2024-01-15 with total page 448 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In Beyond the Visible Church, theologian Florian Klug investigates the Abel motif hermeneutically throughout Christian church history. By showing how the biblical motif of Abel was read and used by representative theologians like Augustine, Bonaventure, Martin Luther, Yves Congar, and others of each epoch, Klug builds the story of the Church’s self-conception and shows how it has evolved over time. By tracing this theological and ecclesiological history and how the motif formed theologians and the Church over time, Klug shows readers a new way to conceive and understand God’s universal will for salvation. By deconstructing and reconstructing the historical occurrences of these ideas, Klug demonstrates that the Church’s self-conception is not yet complete. This unique and ground-breaking study opens new ways forward for Catholic ecclesiology—hope for today’s universal Church.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "As the psalms are a microcosm of the Old Testament, so the Expositions of the Psalms can be seen as a microcosm of Augustinian thought. In the Book of Psalms are to be found the history of the people of Israel, the theology and spirituality of the Old Covenant, and a treasury of human experience expressed in prayer and poetry. So too does the work of expounding the psalms recapitulate and focus the experiences of Augustine's personal life, his theological reflections and his pastoral concerns as Bishop of Hippo."--Publisher's website.
