Book The Christian s Walk Student s Edition

Download or read book The Christian s Walk Student s Edition written by Jeremy J Markle and published by Walking in the Word Ministries. This book was released on 2023-10-24 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: At the end of His earthly ministry, Jesus called his disciples together and gave them His final command for their lives and ministries. Matthew 28:18-20 records Jesus saying, "All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen." Jesus had a specific purpose and plan for His disciples in His absence. They were to represent Him to the world around them by teaching the nations of His Gospel of salvation, baptizing those who believed as a public testimony of their faith and then teaching the believers to observe, or put into practice, His teachings (Mark 16:15-16). In Bible times, the title disciple was given to students of a religious teacher. It was expected that such students would not simply learn the information that their teacher provided but also that they would "observe" or diligently apply that teaching to their daily lives so that they would begin to live like him (Matthew 28:20). That is why the apostle John recorded Jesus as saying "to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed" (John 8:31). He later added, "By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another" (John 13:35). Finally, He stated, "Herein is my Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit; so shall ye be my disciples" (John 15:8). Jesus expects all those who believe on Him to become His disciples by learning and living according to His Word, displaying His love, and glorifying God the Father by allowing Him to produce spiritual fruit in their lives (Luke 14:21-33). One of the primary words used in the New Testament and within Christianity today to describe how a disciple of Jesus Christ is to "observe" His commandments is the word walk. In this context the word walk takes on its figurative meaning of making consistent choices, based on one's beliefs, that form a direction of life for either good or evil, resulting in a habitual lifestyle. It is the purpose of this Bible study to address the forty-seven uses of the word walk in their thirty-two passages, to highlight ten specific biblical truths that should be applied to each believer's daily activities so that the believer can truly be one of Christ's disciples and represent Him to the world.

Book The Reason You Walk

Download or read book The Reason You Walk written by Wab Kinew and published by Penguin. This book was released on 2015-09-29 with total page 274 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A moving story of father-son reconciliation told by a charismatic aboriginal star When his father was given a diagnosis of terminal cancer, Winnipeg broadcaster and musician Wab Kinew decided to spend a year reconnecting with the accomplished but distant aboriginal man who’d raised him. The Reason You Walk spans that 2012 year, chronicling painful moments in the past and celebrating renewed hopes and dreams for the future. As Kinew revisits his own childhood in Winnipeg and on a reserve in Northern Ontario, he learns more about his father's traumatic childhood at residential school. An intriguing doubleness marks The Reason You Walk, itself a reference to an Anishinaabe ceremonial song. Born to an Anishinaabe father and a non-native mother, he has a foot in both cultures. He is a Sundancer, an academic, a former rapper, a hereditary chief and an urban activist. His father, Tobasonakwut, was both a beloved traditional chief and a respected elected leader who engaged directly with Ottawa. Internally divided, his father embraced both traditional native religion and Catholicism, the religion that was inculcated into him at the residential school where he was physically and sexually abused. In a grand gesture of reconciliation, Kinew's father invited the Roman Catholic bishop of Winnipeg to a Sundance ceremony in which he adopted him as his brother. Kinew writes affectingly of his own struggles in his twenties to find the right path, eventually giving up a self-destructive lifestyle to passionately pursue music and martial arts. From his unique vantage point, he offers an inside view of what it means to be an educated aboriginal living in a country that is just beginning to wake up to its aboriginal history and living presence. Invoking hope, healing and forgiveness, The Reason You Walk is a poignant story of a towering but damaged father and his son as they embark on a journey to repair their family bond. By turns lighthearted and solemn, Kinew gives us an inspiring vision for family and cross-cultural reconciliation, and for a wider conversation about the future of aboriginal peoples.

Book Case for Christ Student Ed Padded

Download or read book Case for Christ Student Ed Padded written by Lee Strobel and published by Harper Collins. This book was released on 2002-02-05 with total page 136 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Who Was Jesus? A good man? A lunatic? God? There's little question that he actually lived. But miracles? Rising from the dead? Some of the stories you hear about him sound like just that--stories. A reasonable person would never believe them, let alone the claim that he's the only way to God! But a reasonable person would also make sure that he or she understood the facts before jumping to conclusions. That's why Lee Strobel--an award-winning legal journalist with a knack for asking tough questions--decided to investigate Jesus for himself. An atheist, Strobel felt certain his findings would bring Christianity's claims about Jesus tumbling down like a house of cards. He was in for the surprise of his life. Join him as he retraces his journey from skepticism to faith. You'll consult expert testimony as you sift through the truths that history, science, psychiatry, literature, and religion reveal. Like Strobel, you'll be amazed at the evidence--how much there is, how strong it is, and what it says. The facts are in. What will your verdict be in The Case for Christ?

I may not have been their school principal, but they were my students. I had a duty to care, not only for the students in my school, but for students who attended schools everywhere. Though I am retired now, I still feel that sense of duty to care for all students, wherever they attend school, and that is why I wrote A Daily Walk with God. It is my hope that you will walk with God daily as you go to school. It is my hope that you will be mindful of his presence in your life every day. It is my hope that you will be mindful of his encouragement every day. It is my hope that you will be mindful of his love every day. Every day of the week, every hour of the day, every moment of every hour. You are that important to him. It is my hope that A Daily Walk with God reminds you of that!

Book excerpt: How do we walk with Christ—daily follow him, grow in him, and faithfully serve him? In the Gospels, Jesus modeled for us the Christian spiritual life. The apostles taught it in their writings. And the Church has, through the last 2,000 years, sought to pursue this Christian spiritual life. In The Walk, Adam Hamilton focuses on five essential spiritual practices that are rooted in Jesus’ own walk with God and taught throughout the New Testament. Each of these practices is intended as part of our daily walk with Christ while also being an essential part of growing together in the church. In each chapter, Hamilton explores one of these practices, its New Testament foundation, and what it looks like to pursue this practice daily in our personal life and together in the life of the church. Deepen your walk with Christ as we explore the five essential practices of worship, study, serving, giving, and bearing witness to our faith. Additional components for a six-week adult study include a comprehensive Leader Guide and a DVD featuring the engaging teachings of author and pastor Adam Hamilton. Also available are resources for children and youth.

Download or read book The Case for Christ written by Lee Strobel and published by ReadHowYouWant.com. This book was released on 2010-11 with total page 510 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The book consists primarily of interviews between Strobel (a former legal editor at the Chicago Tribune) and biblical scholars such as Bruce Metzger. Each interview is based on a simple question, concerning historical evidence (for example, "Can the Biographies of Jesus Be Trusted?"), scientific evidence, ("Does Archaeology Confirm or Contradict Jesus' Biographies?"), and "psychiatric evidence" ("Was Jesus Crazy When He Claimed to Be the Son of God?"). Together, these interviews compose a case brief defending Jesus' divinity, and urging readers to reach a verdict of their own.
