Author Troy Horne is a dad who knew nothing about the sport of basketball except that his son wanted to grow up to play the sport professionally. As a former professional musician, Broadway star and television actor he had an hypothesis. That hypothesis was that there were certain truths that held fast in all professional industries. He believed that the staples of work hard, master your skills, meet the right people, and put yourself in the right places were not only essential for the music business, but essential for all professions. So he went in search of the information that he thought that he would need to help his son Moses reach his basketball goals and dreams. The AAU Basketball Bible is a collection of that research. His hope is that this book can be a resource for parents and coaches like him who want to help their children or young athletes reach their goals. Troy loves educating and inspiring others to succeed and live the life of their dreams. This is a part of that work.

Book Why I Stand

Download or read book Why I Stand written by Jonathan Isaac and published by DW Books. This book was released on 2022-05-17 with total page 144 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Facing public criticism, peer hostility, and widespread disapproval, would you compromise your principles to blend in with the crowd, or would you stand for what you believe? On July 31, 2020, the Orlando Magic starting forward Jonathan Isaac was the lone NBA player not to kneel for the national anthem amid a league-wide demonstration in support of Black Lives Matter. Standing alone, knowing the scrutiny to come, Jonathan had a peace he at one time never could have imagined possible. In Why I Stand, Jonathan shares the journey of how—through a series of divine connections and a willingness to follow Christ—his fear and insecurity-driven life was transformed into one of confidence and purpose. From his childhood in the Bronx to his high school years in Florida, from rail-skinny freshman at FSU to top draft pick in the NBA, Jonathan uses his life story to illuminate the freedom and peace found in the love of Jesus Christ. More than the story of an NBA player’s transformation from man on the court to man of God, Why I Stand is a testament to His love, power, and grace that extends to us all. This book is a discovery that no matter your level of confidence today, God’s strength will develop in your weakness. That courage is found in trusting that God is greater than your fears. As Jonathan takes you through the experiences that drove his decisions, he offers insight and inspiration to help you to grow to a point where standing alone is better than not standing at all.

Download or read book Basketball written by Dickie Hill, and published by Christian Faith Publishing, Inc.. This book was released on 2018-03-30 with total page 35 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The practice of competing in sports has been around a long time. Archaeology provides valuable information on games and athletics in the ancient world. In I Corinthians 9:24-27, there is information of running a race to win and a man fighting. It concludes that the goal is to win a prize that will last forever. Man seems to enjoy competing. Perhaps boredom has a way of creating something to do. Over time, new sports and games are developed. In this day and time, commercialization will become involved as individuals strive to make money. As sports grow in popularity, rules are written and guidelines set. These regulating documents tend to expand as the sport grows in popularity. Terminology for the sport will be refined and expanded to explain the game and its rules. Sports and Spirituality is a series of devotional books. Each book relates spiritual principles and scriptures to terminology for a particular sport. Terms related to the sport are defined and then used as the central focus to develop devotional thoughts. Each book presents specific devotional thoughts related to the term being discussed. Scriptures are suggested to supplement the devotional study. Studies can be in a group format or individual. The book is written to spark interest for the sports enthusiast who wishes to increase his or her spiritual commitment. Also, it can serve as a devotional guide for those interested in sports and physical activity. It can make an excellent gift book. Everything we do in life should center on serving God, even when playing a sport. We play a sport or game for fun, but we must play the game of life for God. If we ever stop serving God, all will be lost. To find out more about this amazing book and its mission, Click here.

Book King G O A T Lebron James Numbers Don t Lie King of Basketball

Download or read book King G O A T Lebron James Numbers Don t Lie King of Basketball written by Michael Ray Cox, Jr and published by . This book was released on 2020-09-20 with total page 150 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book about KING GOAT LeBron James is like no other book that has been written about him. This book is written from a Biblical perspective. A biblical perspective is a problem-solving method that comes from a seminary perspective. Some make the point that we serve a God of justice. From a personal point of view, I am 62 years old, and I admire KING GOAT LeBron James. I also believe that KING GOAT LeBron James was chosen for the time we are living in, especially in the NBA. Just look at his impact on the NBA and society. When you are the chosen one, many people will hate you, even those who played basketball with you in the NBA. Many will be jealous. The word jealous means feeling or showing envy of someone or their achievements and advantages. This book emphasizes his figures, records and achievement. Numbers tell the story, numbers don't lie. This book also, in a loving way, is to teach people to admire other people-not just basketball players, but people in general. My whole purpose is to get people to love and respect each other from a biblical point of view, no matter where you come from, no matter who you love, no matter the color of your skin, we should treat all people equal. That is LOVE. That's how I describe you King Goat Lebron James, you demonstrated love. 1 John 3:11 For this is message that ye heard from the beginning, that we should love one another.1 John 3: 15 Whosoever hateth his brother is a murderer: and ye know that no murderer hath eternal life abiding in him.

Book The Meaning and Interpretation of Desire in the Bible

Download or read book The Meaning and Interpretation of Desire in the Bible written by Samo Skralovnik and published by Rowman & Littlefield. This book was released on 2022-08-23 with total page 263 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The term desire in the Hebrew Bible covers a wide range of human longings, emotions, and cravings. The direct and explicit term of desire is nevertheless limited to only two roots found in the Decalogue—the verb forms of the lexical roots חמד and אוה, which reflect not only the dynamics of desire occurring in human beings, but also in God. With an comprehensive semantic analysis and an overview of the synonyms and antonyms, the author shows that the verb form of the lexical root אוה denotes a variety of needs related to human existence including aspiration for God while the verb form of the lexical root חמד denotes the desire to acquire material wealth and possessions beyond basic needs. All the findings are compared on two levels—in relation to human beings (objects and people) and in relation to God—and ultimately serve for the interpretation of the roots in both versions of the Decalogue (Exod 20:17 and Deut 5:21) to resolve questions concerning the meaning of the desire in Tenth Commandment and substantiate whether the answers to life’s questions provided by the Bible correspond to modern society.
