Book excerpt: I shall tell you a story—it is the tale of a journey. Gather round, young and old, for the moving and amusing tale of Adam, a most curious and unique little whistle-pig. Adam is different from the rest of his group from birth. Those in the Whistle-pig Clan do not think deep thoughts. They do not laugh. They cannot even smile! But Adam does these things. Adam plays when the others do not. He explores where the others do not. He protects when others will not. And for all his differences, he is shunned from the group and finds a home, alone, a short distance away from where he grew up. Adam is mostly pleased with his solitary life, but he can't help longing for someone to share his thoughts with. A prisoner in his own mind, he sometimes finds it easy to make a bad choice. But, as he is different than any other whistle-pig, he begins to feel emotions that whistle-pigs and others in the animal kingdom do not feel. These emotions leave him conflicted, until the arrival of Agnus, a strangely kind two leg. A story of redemption and hope, The Awakening of Adam is an allegorical treasure that will inspire your heart and touch your spirit.

Book excerpt: A gripping and original account of how the Civil War began and a second American revolution unfolded, setting Abraham Lincoln on the path to greatness and millions of slaves on the road to freedom. An epic of courage and heroism beyond the battlefields, 1861 introduces us to a heretofore little-known cast of Civil War heroes—among them an acrobatic militia colonel, an explorer’s wife, an idealistic band of German immigrants, a regiment of New York City firemen, a community of Virginia slaves, and a young college professor who would one day become president. Their stories take us from the corridors of the White House to the slums of Manhattan, from the waters of the Chesapeake to the deserts of Nevada, from Boston Common to Alcatraz Island, vividly evoking the Union at its moment of ultimate crisis and decision. Hailed as “exhilarating….Inspiring…Irresistible…” by The New York Times Book Review, Adam Goodheart’s bestseller 1861 is an important addition to the Civil War canon. Includes black-and-white photos and illustrations.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this book, "The Awakening of Adam" there are 29 articles that reveal the ´Spiritual Adultery´ that is committed by the churches of America and all organized religion. You don´t believe it? Read the book and see. Why do you believe what you believe? That is an all important question. Are you sure what you believe is the truth, or are you just following a family tradition? Just because mommy and daddy believes it does not make it the Truth. This book exposes the self-righteous doctrines and the Phariseeism of churches and pastors that tend to judge you by what their eyes see. The problem is: They can´t see your heart. Social religion is the backbone of the modern day church. We´ve been duped by false doctrines and vain traditions. Why are churches so divided against each other? They have a great knowledge of the bible, but where is their love for the low, the fallen and the broken hearted who live on the streets of America? Where is their love for you when you hurt inside; and when you need someone to love you and to care for your needs? Knowledge of the bible is good. It can help you find your way home, but get this one thing and never forget it, friend. Love, I say Love is the key to the door. Only Love will open the door to the heart of God. Religion and manmade rules that has hurt and turned away many of God´s young children will perish and burn with its evils, but Love will never pass away. Love will stand forever and ever. "God is Love." "The Awakening of Adam" was written to help those true Christians who love God and who seek after Truth, but who have been rejected or put down by friends, family and church, simply for what they believe.) How can this book help you? First, it is a guide to help you find Truth, who lives in you. Second, It can comfort those who have been deeply hurt by churches that are long on religion and a little short on love. Third, It can help to set you free of all guilt and condemnation that may have been haunting you over something in your past. Even things that may have been done to you when you were a child. This book is designed to help tear down those old walls of vain religion and inveterate traditions that have kept us blinded to the Truth. This book seeks to reveal the hiding place of God. Isa. 45:15 says "Verily thou art a God that hidest thyself..." Why would God hide himself? He did it, so that carnal minded man cannot access his awesome power until man´s heart is made pure again as it was before he fell into sin. In man´s present state, he would subvert the power of God and use it for selfish purposes. Only those whose hearts are converted, and who have returned to true Love are allowed access to the fullness of the power of God. "The Awakening of Adam" is about man´s perpetual quest for Truth, and for eternal life. It reveals some of the hindrances that have kept the children of God in darkness, thereby hiding the truth of their true identity. The children of God will eventually become as their Father, when their hearts are made pure. That is what children do, isn´t it? Do they not become equal to their parents? When a boy grows to adulthood and unto perfection, he is just as much a man as his father, or if it is a daughter, she is just as much a woman as her mother. Both of them (the boy and the girl) become able to creat life, i.e., they can produce children of their own, just as their father and mother once did. 1st John 4:17 says: "Herein is our love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment: because as he is, so are we in this world." Philippians 2:5 and 6 says: "Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God." 1st. Cor. 2:15 and 16 says: "But he that is spiritual judgeth all things, yet he himself is judged of no man. For who hath known the mind of the Lord, that he may instruct him? But we have the mind of Christ." Do you realize the power that you

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Most Americans have little understanding of the relationship between religion and nationalism in the Middle East. They assume that the two are rooted fundamentally in regional history, not in the history of contact with the broader world. However, as Adam H. Becker shows in this book, Americans—through their missionaries—had a strong hand in the development of a national and modern religious identity among one of the Middle East's most intriguing (and little-known) groups: the modern Assyrians. Detailing the history of the Assyrian Christian minority and the powerful influence American missionaries had on them, he unveils the underlying connection between modern global contact and the retrieval of an ancient identity. American evangelicals arrived in Iran in the 1830s. Becker examines how these missionaries, working with the “Nestorian” Church of the East—an Aramaic-speaking Christian community in the borderlands between Qajar Iran and the Ottoman Empire—catalyzed, over the span of sixty years, a new national identity. Instructed at missionary schools in both Protestant piety and Western science, this indigenous group eventually used its newfound scriptural and archaeological knowledge to link itself to the history of the ancient Assyrians, which in time led to demands for national autonomy. Exploring the unintended results of this American attempt to reform the Orient, Becker paints a larger picture of religion, nationalism, and ethnic identity in the modern era.

Book excerpt: They say it's a bad idea to fall for your best friend. But since when do I say no to bad ideas? Adam: It's not like I wanted to fall in love with Ben. When we first met in college, I thought he'd be like every other hot jock who'd made my life hell in high school. It's not my fault he turned out to be sweet, funny, and insanely talented. We moved to New York after college to break into the music business and of course Ben got signed by a major label--they'd be stupid not to want him. But even though he's a famous popstar now, he still wants to be friends with a nobody like me. Honestly, if he didn't want me falling for him, he should have been less goddamn perfect. Well, except for the part where he's straight. Did I forget to mention that? In my defense, responsible decision-making has never been my strong suit. Case in point--collapsing on stage, guitar in hand, after discovering my then-boyfriend, now-ex was cheating on me, and downing a bottle of bourbon in response. But I'm cleaning up my act--no more hiding in the closet and no more bad life choices. But that also means no more waiting around for the day Ben magically decides he likes di...sgustingly sappy guys with secret crushes on him (aka me). So why did Ben have to pick now to make me question everything I thought I knew about us? "I've never wanted anything as much as I want you right now. When I see you, something inside me lights up." Ben: It's not like I planned this. I was on tour when Adam collapsed back in New York and he wouldn't even let me come home early to visit him. But that's Adam for you--brilliant, breathtaking, and pathologically afraid of vulnerability. All I wanted was to be there for him--and him coming out didn't change that in the slightest. Yeah, I couldn't help seeing him a little differently. And no, I couldn't quite explain why I was suddenly noticing the curve of his back, the freckles on his cheeks, or wondering what his lips tasted like. But whatever weird awakening I was having, Adam needed support, not more confusion. And then I kissed him. Whoops. And I know it's fast. I know it's unexpected. I know my label would be livid if they found out I was dating a guy. But I also know--deeply and inexplicably--that this could be something real. I just have to convince Adam of the same thing. Beautiful, broken Adam who looks at the world through 14 layers of irony. Adam, who'd rather get an appendectomy than admit that he needs someone. Adam, who still doesn't know all of my secrets. So do I convince him to risk everything--on me? Adam's Song is Book 1 in the 8 Million Hearts series. While each book can be read on its own, they've even more fun to read together. Adam's Song is a 120,000 word m/m romance full of snark, sweetness, and a healthy serving of steam. Friends-to-lovers and hurt/comfort themes. No cheating, no cliffhangers, and a guaranteed HEA.
