Book Dynamic Behavior of Anchors in Cracked and Uncracked Concrete

Download or read book Dynamic Behavior of Anchors in Cracked and Uncracked Concrete written by and published by . This book was released on 1995 with total page 20 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In early 1993, the US Nuclear Regulatory Commission began a research program at The University of Texas at Austin, dealing with the dynamic behavior of anchors in cracked and uncracked concrete. In this paper, the progress of that research program is reviewed. The test program is summarized, the work performed to date is reviewed, with emphasis on the dynamic and static behavior of single tensile anchors in uncracked concrete. General conclusions from that work are discussed, and future plans are presented.

Book Anchorage in Concrete Construction

Download or read book Anchorage in Concrete Construction written by Rolf Eligehausen and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2013-10-30 with total page 410 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Book Connections between Steel and Concrete

Download or read book Connections between Steel and Concrete written by Rolf Eligehausen and published by ibidem-Verlag / ibidem Press. This book was released on 2012-02-27 with total page 1430 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Anchorage by fasteners and composite structures of steel and concrete have seen dramatic progress in research, technology and application over the past decades. The understanding of the fundamental principles underlying both disciplines has significantly improved. Concurrently, there has been rapid growth in the development of sophisticated new products and the establishment of international directives and codes to ensure their safe and economical use in a wide range of engineered structures. Although they deal with very similar problems, the two disciplines have developed independently from each other. To optimize the use of composite structures and fastenings to concrete, however, it is necessary to have knowledge of both: the local behavior of the fastening system and the global behavior of the structure. It became apparent that a forum offering the opportunity to expand and to exchange experience in the field of connecting steel and concrete would benefit all involved. Furthermore this forum would aid in the rapid dissemination of new ideas, technologies and solutions as well as explore new areas of research. This book forms the Proceedings of the 2 Symposium on “Connections between Steel and Concrete”. As the 1 Symposium in 2001 it brought together leading experts from all facets of the research, design, construction and anchor manufacturing community from around the world. Their lectures covered the topics:- test methods- behavior and design- dynamic loading: shock, earthquake, fatigue- durability- exceptional applications, strenghtening and structures- related topicsIn total 129 papers are gathered in these 2 volumes.

Book Design of anchorages in concrete

Download or read book Design of anchorages in concrete written by fib Fédération internationale du béton and published by fib Fédération internationale du béton. This book was released on 2011-01-01 with total page 277 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Despite the widespread use of cast-in-place and post-installed anchors in construction, the overall level of understanding in the engineering community regarding their behaviour remains quite limited. Furthermore, since the publication of the original CEB design guide, “Design of Fastenings in Concrete”, ongoing research and additional application experience has led to an improved understanding and deepened knowledge in various areas of fastening technology. fib Bulletin 58 therefore represents a substantial revision of the original 1997 guide. It addresses a variety of loading types and failure modes and takes into account the current state of the art for anchorages in new construction as well as for their use in the repair and strengthening of existing concrete structures. fib Bulletin 58 provides a method for the design of the anchorage and additional rules for the design of the concrete member to which the load is transferred. The specified provisions are based on the currently available research.

Book Behavior and Design of Cast in place Anchors Under Simulated Seismic Loading

Download or read book Behavior and Design of Cast in place Anchors Under Simulated Seismic Loading written by Luke C. Butler and published by . This book was released on 2013 with total page 76 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Outrigger beam-wall connections are a common method used to transfer lateral load from an earthquake or wind event into the main lateral force resistance system for buildings up to 25 to 30 stories. A typical outrigger beam-wall connection consists of a shear tab welded to an embedded plate which is fastened to the wall by multiple cast-in-place anchors. ACI 318 Appendix D has codified guidelines of how to design cast-in-place anchors for combined tensile and shear loading in cracked and uncracked concrete. However, the code specifically states that Appendix D does not apply to the design of anchors in plastic hinge zones. This limitation is because the code is largely based on "methods developed from tests that are only accurate for crack widths up to 0.04 inches" (Eligenhausen et al. 2006). Due to paucity of past research on the behavior of anchors tested under cyclic loading with heavily damaged concrete, an experimental approach was used to investigate the behavior of a typical outrigger beam-wall connection under simulated seismic loading located in the plastic hinge zone of the structural wall. The test results are presented and compared against those from ACI 318 Appendix D.
