Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Two pugs have built a robot labrador to steal the world's tastiest bone. The story is set in the United Kakedom, an island bigger than Iceland and smaller than Greenland. It is a circular island containing four countries of exactly the same size – like four quarters of a cake. These countries are Eggland, Sconeland, Pieland and Waffles. The people who live there are called crumbs. The crumbs are ruled by a Queen and she is helped by her Prime Minister. At the time of this story the Queen's name is Cranberry and the Prime Minister's name is Mrs Cheese Sandwich. Cheese Sandwich is married to Ham, a writer. They have two pugs called Louie and Zucchie, adopted from a rescue home. Unknown to the Sandwiches, prior to meeting the pugs Louie made a promise to a lady pug; that he and Zucchie would give her the world's tastiest bone. The world's tastiest bone belonged to the Ancient Egyptian King, Pug Tootandfarten. It has been lent by the Egyptian Queen, Juniper, to the Museum of Bones in Eggdon, the capital city of Eggland. No pugs are allowed inside the museum, only labradors. Louie decides to build a robot labrador to steal the bone. The robbery is successful, but Queen Cranberry has ordered two hounds from the Dog Police to catch the thieves. If the bone is not returned to the Cairo Museum, Queen Juniper has threatened that Egypt will not sell the United Kakedom any Bogtrax toilet paper. The United Kakedom will be in the poop, as Egypt is the only manufacturer of toilet paper in the world. If the pugs are caught they face a trial, watched by the crumbs of the United Kakedom, and a prison sentence. If the pugs are found guilty Cheese Sandwich will lose her job, and the pugs will lose their home.

Book The Adventures of Violet the Naughty Pug

Download or read book The Adventures of Violet the Naughty Pug written by Allan Napier and published by AuthorHouse. This book was released on 2021-05-28 with total page 129 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book of short children’s stories is about the adventures of our family pet Pug ‘Violet.’ The idea was originally conceived in 2014 when the antics of Violet, who had just turned three years old inspired the first story of ‘Violet, The Fox and Alfie.’ and from then on, subsequent stories evolved. Many of Violet’s adventures include our four children’s family pets (all dogs) and with whom Violet has had strong connections. Violet came into our family as a twelve week old puppy and was officially named and registered as Miss ‘Violet Havoc’. At that time no one could have perceived that some of her antics would one day find themselves as the basis of children’s stories. Violet was born with a mischievous and active mind and her second name ‘Havoc’, seemed somehow to personify the character she became and still remains to this day. Extremely inquisitive, of great intelligence and, single-mindedness. Whatever goes on, Violet always appears in the thick of it!

Book Let s Pretend This Never Happened

Download or read book Let s Pretend This Never Happened written by Jenny Lawson and published by Penguin. This book was released on 2013-03-05 with total page 385 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The #1 New York Times bestselling (mostly true) memoir from the hilarious author of Furiously Happy. “Gaspingly funny and wonderfully inappropriate.”—O, The Oprah Magazine When Jenny Lawson was little, all she ever wanted was to fit in. That dream was cut short by her fantastically unbalanced father and a morbidly eccentric childhood. It did, however, open up an opportunity for Lawson to find the humor in the strange shame-spiral that is her life, and we are all the better for it. In the irreverent Let’s Pretend This Never Happened, Lawson’s long-suffering husband and sweet daughter help her uncover the surprising discovery that the most terribly human moments—the ones we want to pretend never happened—are the very same moments that make us the people we are today. For every intellectual misfit who thought they were the only ones to think the things that Lawson dares to say out loud, this is a poignant and hysterical look at the dark, disturbing, yet wonderful moments of our lives. • Publisher : Grub Street Publishers

  • Pages : 231 pages

Download or read book The Pug Who Bit Napoleon written by Mimi Matthews and published by Grub Street Publishers. This book was released on 2017-11-30 with total page 231 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: From Victorian cat funerals to a Regency-era pony who took a ride in a hot air balloon, a collection of history’s quirkiest—and most poignant—animal tales. Meet Fortune, the Pug who bit Napoleon on his wedding night, and Looty, the Pekingese sleeve dog who was presented to Queen Victoria after the 1860 sacking of the Summer Palace in Peking. The four-legged friends of Lord Byron, Emily Brontë, and Prince Albert also make an appearance, as do the treasured pets of Alexander Pope, Samuel Johnson, and Charles Dickens. Less famous, but no less fascinating, are the animals that were the subject of historical lawsuits, scandals, and public curiosity. There’s Tuppy, the purloined pet donkey; Biddy, the regimental chicken; and Barnaby and Burgho, the bloodhounds hired to hunt Jack the Ripper. Wild animals also get a mention in tales that encompass everything from field mice and foxes to alligators and sharks lurking in the Thames. Using research from eighteenth- and nineteenth-century books, letters, and newspapers, Mimi Matthews brings each animal’s unique history to vivid life. The details are sometimes humorous, sometimes heartbreaking, but the stories are never anything less than fascinating reading for animal lovers of all ages.

In ""An Unsavoury Interlude,"" Mr. King makes fun of Beetle for once being frightened to take a bath in the ocean, which causes the boys from Mr. King's house to call the boys from Mr. Prout's house ""stinkers.""Many lads take part eagerly in order to train for their future professions as military officers. But when a member of parliament is asked to speak at the school on ""patriotism,"" he angers the lads by raising the Union Jack. The cadet corps left the next morning under Stalky's leadership.
