Book Synthesis and Characterization of 4 aryl Substituted Silicon nitrogen boron and Silicon nitrogen Systems

Download or read book Synthesis and Characterization of 4 aryl Substituted Silicon nitrogen boron and Silicon nitrogen Systems written by Kyralyssa Elayne Hauger and published by . This book was released on 2016 with total page 177 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Neilson group has developed a broad spectrum of derivative chemistry originating from the study of boron compounds containing silicon-nitrogen functional groups. Some of our current research interests have focused on investigating compounds containing Si-N moieties attached to a 4-substituted aryl (Ar) functionality to afford silylanilino derivatives. Due to the variety of reactions that can occur at the boron center, combined with the reactivity of the Si-N bond, some of these compounds have the potential to be precursors to new cyclic and/or polymeric systems, for example poly(phenylene-borazenes), i.e. new inorganic-organic hybrid polymers in which the borazene ( -BR-NR'- ) and arylene ( -C6H4- ) units alternate along the backbone. The work to be presented focuses on the synthesis, characterization and reactivity of some representative examples of 4-aryl substituted (silylanilino)boranes. To be discussed are two classes of title compounds of type I, (silylanilino)boranes with the Ar-N-B backbone, and type II, (silylanilino)boranes with the B-Ar-N backbone. With.

Book excerpt: The preparative and derivative chemistry of organoborane compounds that contain silicon-nitrogen functional groups is both diverse and synthetically useful. The wide variety of reactions that can occur at boron, in combination with facile cleavage of the Si-N bond, makes them potential precursors to polymeric B-N systems. We report here on the synthesis, characterization, and reactivity of three representative examples of the title systems of general types 1 and 2. Some of these systems are being studied as the precursors to new types of inorganic-organic hybrid polymers and/or novel ring systems.

Book Reactions and bonding of silicon with halogen and nitrogen

This book was released on 2024-07-13 with total page 67 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: During the last few decades silicon - nitrogen compounds have gained a lot of importance. These compounds have emerged as a precursor for many Si containing compounds. There are only a few synthetical methods to prepare these compounds. The Si-X bond is of particularly great importance in the chemistry of organosilicon compounds as almost all organosilicon compounds are ultimately obtained from elementary silicon through SiCl4, and alkyl(aryl)halosilanes. The Si-X bond is much more reactive than the C-X bond toward polar reagents. The ease of hydrolysis of halosilanes decreases with the successive replacement of halogens by alkyls or aryls. The Si-H bond is much more reactive than the C-H bond. Silicon nitrogen has very high potential application in semiconductor industries. Triamino silanes are a class of compounds having silicon -nitrogen compounds characterized by the presence of three amino (NH2) groups attached to a silicon atom. Hence these compounds play a major role in the applications in material science, catalysis etc. Exploring their potential and different methods of preparation, stability and reactivity open a promising avenues for fundamental research and practical applications.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: (Cont.) Our studies indicate that unfavorable peri-interactions between the imine substrate and the Lewis acid may be the conformation-controlling element for nucleophilic additions to imines. On the other hand, detailed mechanistic studies of the Mukaiyama aldol reaction suggest a reaction pathway involving an intermediate with a coplanar aldehyde-Lewis acid conformation. These studies demonstrate the broad scope and the high efficiency with which the chiral information is transferred from the planar-chiral Lewis acid to its substrates. Consequently, the turnover step (regeneration of the active Lewis acid) represents the last hurdle to be addressed for achieving asymmetric Lewis acid catalysis. Part III of this thesis describes miscellaneous applications that have been discovered during the course of the development of 1,2-azaborolyl-based planar-chiral Lewis acids. In Chapter 7, we present a surprisingly mild and versatile method for palladium-catalyzed Suzuki cross-couplings of aryl chlorides in the presence of a triarylphosphine. With this catalytic system, both sterically demanding and electronically deactivated aryl chlorides can be efficiently coupled with a range of boronic acids in good yields, and coupling of activated aryl chlorides can be accomplished at room temperature. In Chapter 8, we report the synthesis and characterization of novel 1,2-azaborines and their potential as benzene surrogates.

Book Cross Coupling Reactions

Download or read book Cross Coupling Reactions written by Norio Miyaura and published by Springer. This book was released on 2003-07-01 with total page 253 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In 1972, a very powerful catalytic cycle for carbon-carbon bond formation was 2 first discovered by the coupling reaction of Grignard reagents at the sp -carbon. Over the past 30 years, the protocol has been substantially improved and expanded to other coupling reactions of Li,B,N,O,Al,Si,P,S,Cu,Mn,Zn,In,Sn, and Hg compounds. These reactions provided an indispensable and simple methodology for preparative organic chemists. Due to the simplicity and rel- bility in the carbon-carbon, carbon-heteroatom, and carbon-metalloid bo- formations,as well as high efficiency of the catalytic process, the reactions have been widely employed by organic chemists in various fields. Application of the protocol ranges from various syntheses of complex natural products to the preparation of biologically relevant molecules including drugs, and of sup- molecules, and to functional materials. The reactions on solid surfaces allow robot synthesis and combinatorial synthesis. Now, many organic chemists do not hesitate to use transition metal complexes for the transformation of org- ic molecules. Indeed, innumerable organic syntheses have been realized by the catalyzed reactions of transition metal complexes that are not achievable by t- ditional synthetic methods. Among these, the metal-catalyzed cross-coupling reactions have undoubtedly contributed greatly to the development of such a new area of “metal-catalyzed organic syntheses”. An excellent monograph for the cross-coupling reactions and other met- catalyzed C-C bond-forming reactions recently appeared in Metal-catalyzed Cross-coupling Reactions (Wiley-VCH,1998).
