The East Pacific Ocean is home to some of the most dynamic marine ecosystems, and the most unique sea turtles. Marine biodiversity within this massive ocean region abounds in mangrove estuaries, seagrass pastures, coral reefs, the open ocean, and many other habitats, with sea turtles often the most conspicuous species present. The distinctive traits of the Eastern Pacific have resulted in the smallest leatherbacks, a singular morph of the green turtle, dark and steeply domed olive ridleys, and the most cryptic hawksbills on the planet. Book excerpt: The Book of the Six Fields of the Senses receives its name from the homonymous saṃyutta with which it begins and is the dominant one in terms of its length and doctrinal weight. This saṃyutta makes a functional analysis of all the processes involved with the relationship with the exterior, where it is shown that none of them is controlled. For example, with respect to sight, for example, the objective, that which is seen is not controlled. The subjective, which is the eye, is not controlled, you cannot make the eye see as you wish. Neither the eye contact nor the qualia as a result are controlled. Where the eye, the visual figures, the eye contact and the visual qualia are, there is the world or what is known as the world. Therefore, the relationship with the world is uncontrollable or, which is the same thing, it is not me. What is not controlled is unpleasant and causes suffering. We are before the description of the slavery that Samsara means. Following the functional analysis we have the following booklet dedicated to emotional reactions which contains 31 discourses on the three types of emotional reactions: pleasant, unpleasant and indifferent. In the process of experience, emotional reactions arise from qualia and stimulate craving. The result of the analysis is that, although emotional reactions are still experienced, they do not induce craving. The next saṃyutta is dedicated to women with their virtues and defects. The next four, relate to persons and a fifth to chiefs. The two closing saṃyuttas relate to Nibbāna and everything unstated.

Each entry refers to the other dictionaries that catalog that same metaphor, and the dates of first appearance in writing are supplied, where possible, for both the metaphor and the name of the source. The main text is organized alphabetically by metaphor rather than by animal or animal behavior; all the metaphors are classified according to their animal source in a list at the end of the book. An animal metaphor is a word, phrase, or sentence that expresses a resemblance or similarity between someone or something and a particular animal or animal class. True metaphors are single words, such as the noun tiger, the verb hog, and the adjective chicken. Phrasal metaphors combine true metaphors with other words, such as blind tiger, hog the road, and chicken colonel. Other animal metaphors take the form of similes, such as like rats leaving a sinking ship and prickly as a hedgehog. Still others take the form of proverbs, such as Don't count your chickens before they hatch and Let sleeping dogs lie. The horse is the animal most frequently referred to in metaphors, followed closely by the dog. The Bible is the most prolific literary source of animal metaphors, followed closely by Shakespeare.
