Book Physics of Turbulent Jet Ignition

Download or read book Physics of Turbulent Jet Ignition written by Sayan Biswas and published by Springer. This book was released on 2018-05-03 with total page 230 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book focuses on developing strategies for ultra-lean combustion of natural gas and hydrogen, and contributes to the research on extending the lean flammability limit of hydrogen and air using a hot supersonic jet. The author addresses experimental methods, data analysis techniques, and results throughout each chapter and: Explains the fundamental mechanisms behind turbulent hot jet ignition using non-dimensional analysis Explores ignition characteristics by impinging hot jet and multiple jets in relation to better controllability and lean combustion Explores how different instability modes interact with the acoustic modes of the combustion chamber. This book provides a potential answer to some of the issues that arise from lean engine operation, such as poor ignition, engine misfire, cycle-to-cycle variability, combustion instability, reduction in efficiency, and an increase in unburned hydrocarbon emissions. This thesis was submitted to and approved by Purdue University.

Book Investigation at Supersonic and Subsonic Mach Numbers of Auxiliary Inlets Supplying Secondary Air Flow to Ejector Exhaust Nozzles

Download or read book Investigation at Supersonic and Subsonic Mach Numbers of Auxiliary Inlets Supplying Secondary Air Flow to Ejector Exhaust Nozzles written by Donald P. Hearth and published by . This book was released on 1956 with total page 52 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The results indicated increases in auxiliary-inlet pressure recovery with increases in scoop height relative to the boundary-layer thickness. The pressure recovery increased at about the same rate as theoretically predicted for an inlet in a boundary layer having a one-seventh power profile, but was only about 0.68 to 0.75 of the theoretically obtainable values. Under some operating conditions, flow from the primary jet was exhausted through the auxiliary inlet. This phenomenon could be predicted from the ejector pumping characteristics.

Book A Class of de Laval Nozzles

Download or read book A Class of de Laval Nozzles written by S. V. Falkovich and published by . This book was released on 1949 with total page 22 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A study is made herein of the irrotational adiabatic motion of a gas in the transition from subsonic to supersonic velocities. A shape of the de Laval nozzle is given, which transforms a homogeneous plane-parallel flow at large subsonic velocity into a supersonic flow without any shockwaves beyond the transition line from the subsonic to the supersonic regions of flow. The method of solution is based on integration near the transition line of the gas equations of motion in the form investigated by S. A. Christianovich.

Book Computational Methods to Optimize Supersonic Nozzles

Download or read book Computational Methods to Optimize Supersonic Nozzles written by Igor Gaissinski and published by LAP Lambert Academic Publishing. This book was released on 2013 with total page 400 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The book is devoted to calculation methods of a converging-diverging nozzle used in propulsion and the high velocity flow. The algorithms and programs given in the book are intended to help engineers and students to design and calculate the nozzle parameters to provide optimal parameters for compressible supersonic flows. The present monograph is a tutorial (handbook) to calculate and determine the optimal parameters for converging-diverging nozzles provided supersonic flow. The main program consists from three main parts: programs for calculation the profile of the Contraction zone, EOD code for the flow in the Contraction zone, the program Rott-Crabtree for calculation the pressure gradient Pohlhausen parameter, the program for the aerodynamic design of axisymmetric and two-dimensional nozzles for supersonic and hypersonic wind tunnels, programs for solving laminar, transitional, or turbulent compressible boundary layer equations for two-dimensional and axisymmetric flow, and the program to obtain hypersonic boundary layer stability. The book is designed to be an instrument for students and scientists interested in study supersonic flow and high-temperature gas dynamics.

Book High Performance Computing in Science and Engineering Garching Munich 2007

Download or read book High Performance Computing in Science and Engineering Garching Munich 2007 written by Siegfried Wagner and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2008-10-22 with total page 700 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: For the fourth time, the Leibniz Supercomputing Centre (LRZ) and the Com- tence Network for Technical, Scienti c High Performance Computing in Bavaria (KONWIHR) publishes the results from scienti c projects conducted on the c- puter systems HLRB I and II (High Performance Computer in Bavaria). This book reports the research carried out on the HLRB systems within the last three years and compiles the proceedings of the Third Joint HLRB and KONWIHR Result and Reviewing Workshop (3rd and 4th December 2007) in Garching. In 2000, HLRB I was the rst system in Europe that was capable of performing more than one Tera op/s or one billion oating point operations per second. In 2006 it was replaced by HLRB II. After a substantial upgrade it now achieves a peak performance of more than 62 Tera op/s. To install and operate this powerful system, LRZ had to move to its new facilities in Garching. However, the situation regarding the need for more computation cycles has not changed much since 2000. The demand for higher performance is still present, a trend that is likely to continue for the foreseeable future. Other resources like memory and disk space are currently in suf cient abundance on this new system.
