Book excerpt: David Lipton, and Sandra Green, suddenly find themselves caught in a vicious struggle between Colonel Adam Jacoby, Director of DARPA, the United States Defense Advanced Research Projects Administration, and Carl Melanson, Director of The Guardians, dedicated rivals of weapon construction. They believe David’s father Maxime Lipton, a renowned Physicist, left him with the plans for a weapon capable of immense power, and they want the weapon. . David was horrified at seeing his Father and entire family suddenly incinerated in an unexplained car explosion on the Long Island Expressway, and a posthumous package from his Father, containing part of the details of the weapon not only confirms that murder had occurred, but that now the shadow of the weapon has changed his life. He, and Sandra race to Shoreham, Long Island, where an eccentric scientist, the inventor of Alternating Current, Nicola Tesla, was reported to have hidden plans for a ‘Death Beam.’ Fear of being kidnapped by Jacoby, wondering whether to destroy the plans for the weapon if they find it, or to preserve it as a gift of free energy to civilization, strains their commitment to the search. The uncertainty of who is a friend, and who is to be mistrusted among the strangers offering help strengthens their need for each other, soon tested in the development of events they could never have anticipated.

From the Book Life is a word can't none of us explain, for we all have a different one, different experiences we may see or face where trials and tribulations come our way. there's no place to run, no place to hide. I found that out at such a young age after my journey began for it is not over despite what I see, despite what I feel. For when a person asks me how I am, I tell them that I am blessed! A lot of times a person may ask another how they are, knowing they really don't care, and if they do there's not much that will be done, which can leave a person feeling even worse, wishing they had never revealed the truth. god, my god has given me something that I can say that no matter who you are, what position or status you claim or may have at this present moment that can be taken from you. to say I'm blessed is indeed an honor, but the Journey has not been easy. After those words are said, I explain to a person why I feel those words I better say every time. If I can sleep two-and-a-half to three months, wake up when doctors say I'm not, walk and talk when they say I never will, telling my family that because of this they might as well put me in a nursing home. then ten and a half years later get hit by an suV, flip over the hood, landing in the other lane and not lose consciousness. I better say I'm blessed every time for the simple fact I am able to talk about it.

Book Taser Electronic Control Devices and Sudden In custody Death

Download or read book Taser Electronic Control Devices and Sudden In custody Death written by Howard E. Williams and published by Charles C Thomas Publisher. This book was released on 2008 with total page 220 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Negative sentiment regarding conducted energy weapons is due largely to a lack of understanding about the technology behind such weapons and a misunderstanding of those weaponsOCO physiological effects. Media accounts that speculatively associate sudden in-custody deaths with the use of conducted energy weapons only add to the confusion. TASER ELECTRONIC CONTROL DEVICES AND SUDDEN IN-CUSTODY DEATH documents 310 deaths in the United States proximate to the application of TASER electronic control devices from 1983 through 2006. The study examines the phenomenon of sudden death as it relates to electromuscular disruption technology and TASER electronic control devices by constructing 213 cases studies, dating from 1983 through 2005, and analyzing information available from news accounts, police reports, and autopsies. After reviewing the available evidence from this extensive case study, the author concludes that these conducted energy weapons are excluded as the cause of death in 182 of the 212 cases. In only two cases did the evidence tend to confirm the weapon was either a cause of death or a significant contributing factor. While arguing that the TASER electronic control devices are safe less-lethal weapons, the author also cautions that they are not completely effective. He notes that the weapons were not effective in subduing more than 60 percent of violent or aggressive subjects in the 213 case studies, and he documents 131 cases of fatal police shootings and one police fatality following the failure of the weapons. The only way to determine whether the TASER electronic control devices is responsible for deaths is to separate evidence from conjecture and analyze the facts of each case. This book will be an excellent resource for law enforcement professionals, attorneys, investigators, and criminal justice personnel."

Book excerpt: In the Buddhist terminology 'Buddha' is equivalent to 'truth'. They don't talk much about truth; they talk much more about Buddha. That too is significant, because when you become a Buddha -- 'Buddha' means when you become Awakened -- truth is, so why talk about truth? Just ask what awakening is. Just ask what awareness is -- because when you are aware, truth is there; when you are not aware, truth is not there.

Book From Sudden Death to Paradise

Download or read book From Sudden Death to Paradise written by T.S. Dismas and published by WestBow Press. This book was released on 2019-09-20 with total page 161 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: It’s easy to take it all for granted and go through life feeling invincible—especially if you’ve spent your life successfully facing challenges, overcoming obstacles in the way, and working hard to improve yourself both mentally and physically. Yet for all of us, this feeling of invincibility is an illusion. From Sudden Death to Paradise shares one man’s story of suddenly facing his mortality and coming to terms with what he experienced. After being exposed to toxic chemicals while in the military, and unknown to him, author T. S. Dismas developed an autoimmune disease that would kill him—one night, Dismas suffered sudden heart failure and died for ten minutes. Yet in that moment, he had a near-death experience and visited heaven, where he would learn a valuable lesson about himself, his life, his faith, and God. No amount of suffering could take away his joy and peace, and after his experience, life was now sweet and truly a gift. With a new heart—both literally and spiritually—he was able to realize his previous life was not part of God’s plan, and that embracing God’s love is the only way to sustain happiness and find meaning in this life.
