Book Subsea Rigid Pipelines Methods of Installation

Download or read book Subsea Rigid Pipelines Methods of Installation written by Eng-Bin Ng and published by Partridge Publishing Singapore. This book was released on 2019-07-16 with total page 602 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is about the various methods of installing rigid subsea/submarine pipelines, such as the common methods using S-lay, J-lay, and reel-lay vessels. Other methods like the surface tow, bottom pull, and various other pipeline tow methods are also utilized. It also addresses supplementary activities required as part of a pipeline installation program, such as pipe manufacture and coating, seabed intervention, riser installation, pipeline precommissioning, and pipeline repairs. This book was written for students and newcomers to the oil and gas industry who have little or no knowledge of pipeline construction. Unlike other technical books on pipelines, this one does not address the detailed design of pipelines. Instead, it provides an overview of construction methodologies for subsea pipelines. As such, this book will provide the readers with a different perspective by providing a practical and illustrative approach to explain and illustrate how subsea pipelines can be installed through various methods. The author has used examples from some of his past projects. Where available, he also highlighted the various aspects of the work, and in some cases, he has provided the lessons that he learned from his past experiences so that readers may learn from the author’s experiences too.

Book excerpt: The 7th International Conference on Scour and Erosion (ICSE 2014) was organised by the School of Civil, Environmental and Mining Engineering and the Centre for Offshore Foundation Systems at the University of Western Australia under the guidance of the Technical Committee 213 for Scour and Erosion of the International Society of Soil Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering (ISSMGE). This biennial conference draws together leading academics, scientists and engineers engaged in scour and erosion research to present and exchange their latest scientific findings. These proceedings, together with the six previous proceedings dating from 2002, present a rare collection of technical and scientific developments in scour and erosion research which have been established over the last 12 years. This book includes state-of-the-art papers in scour and erosion from ICSE 2014, covering the 6 themes of: internal erosion, sediment transport, advanced numerical modelling of scour and erosion, terrestrial scour and erosion, river/bridge scour and erosion, and marine scour and erosion. The proceedings include 5 keynote lectures from world leading researches cutting across the themes of scour and erosion, together with 87 peer-reviewed papers from 19 countries. This book is ideal for researchers and industry working at the forefront of scour and erosion, both with application to rivers and marine operations.

Book Subsea Pipelines and Risers

Download or read book Subsea Pipelines and Risers written by Yong Bai and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2005-12-05 with total page 850 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Marine pipelines for the transportation of oil and gas have become a safe and reliable part of the expanding infrastructure put in place for the development of the valuable resources below the worlds seas and oceans. The design of these pipelines is a relatively new technology and continues to evolve as the design of more cost effective pipelines becomes a priority and applications move into deeper waters and more hostile environments. This updated edition of a best selling title provides the reader with a scope and depth of detail related to the design of offshore pipelines and risers not seen before in a textbook format. With over 25years experience, Professor Yong Bai has been able to assimilate the essence of the applied mechanics aspects of offshore pipeline system design in a form of value to students and designers alike. It represents an excellent source of up to date practices and knowledge to help equip those who wish to be part of the exciting future of this industry.

Book Key Technologies for Safety Construction of Mined Subsea Tunnels

Download or read book Key Technologies for Safety Construction of Mined Subsea Tunnels written by Dingli Zhang and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2023-03-16 with total page 418 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book puts forward a technological system for the construction of subsea tunnel using drilling and blasting method. Taking the water-induced disaster as the core risk, the safety guarantee system for large cross-sectional subsea tunnels is established. The composite grouting technology referred to ground reinforcement and water plugging is established, which breaks through the technical bottleneck of subsea tunnel construction in highly permeable strata. The process control theory based on water inrush mechanism is created, which gets rid of the over-dependence on engineering experience for disaster control of submarine tunnel. An active control waterproof drainage system based on the synergy of reinforcement ring and support system is invented to solve the contradiction between the control of water displacement and water pressure. The above-mentioned achievements have been successfully applied in the first three large cross-sectional subsea tunnels in China, and have played a key role in the construction safety. The proposed technological system can improve the overall construction level of subsea tunnel, which can provide reference for the design and construction of subsea tunnels, especially for those crossing through weakness zones.
