The identity apparent between many of the local names sifted and interpreted by that learned writer and those of Galloway, seemed to point to the possibility of some advance being achieved by the classification and comparison of all the names in that province. To any student who may in future approach the task more fully equipped with that knowledge of Celtic literature in which the present writer confesses himself - in limine - sadly imperfect, it may at least be serviceable to find nearly four thousand names of places alphabetically arranged.
