Book Elasticity and Plasticity of Large Deformations

Download or read book Elasticity and Plasticity of Large Deformations written by Albrecht Bertram and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2021-04-07 with total page 410 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book presents an introduction to material theory and, in particular, to elasticity, plasticity and viscoelasticity, to bring the reader close to the frontiers of today’s knowledge in these particular fields. It starts right from the beginning without assuming much knowledge of the subject. Hence, the book is generally comprehensible to all engineers, physicists, mathematicians, and others. At the beginning of each new section, a brief Comment on the Literature contains recommendations for further reading. This book includes an updated reference list and over 100 changes throughout the book. It contains the latest knowledge on the subject. Two new chapters have been added in this new edition. Now finite viscoelasticity is included, and an Essay on gradient materials, which have recently drawn much attention.

Book A Review of the Theory of Large Elastic Deformations

Download or read book A Review of the Theory of Large Elastic Deformations written by Edward W Ross (Jr) and published by . This book was released on 1962 with total page 30 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The report provides an introduction to the theory of Large Elastic Deformations. Little in the way of detailed derivations is given. Rather, the ideas and results are given, referring the reader to the literature for details, in the hope that those who are unfamiliar with the subject may obtain (without excessive effort) a rough picture of the available information.

Book Elasticity and Plasticity of Large Deformations

Download or read book Elasticity and Plasticity of Large Deformations written by Albrecht Bertram and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2007-02-03 with total page 341 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This careful and detailed introduction to non-linear continuum mechanics and to elasticity and platicity, with a unique mathematical foundation, starts right from the basics. The general theory of mechanical behaviour is particularized for the broad and important classes of elasticity and plasticity. Brings the reader to the forefront of today's knowledge. A list of notations and an index help the reader finding specific topics.

Book Collected Papers of R S Rivlin

Download or read book Collected Papers of R S Rivlin written by Grigory I. Barenblatt and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-12-14 with total page 2868 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: R.S. Rivlin is one of the principal architects of nonlinear continuum mechanics: His work on the mechanics of rubber (in the 1940s and 50s) established the basis of finite elasticity theory. These volumes make most of his scientific papers available again and show the full scope and significance of his contributions.

Book Nonlinear Theory Of Elasticity Applications In Biomechanics

Download or read book Nonlinear Theory Of Elasticity Applications In Biomechanics written by Larry A Taber and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 2004-02-19 with total page 417 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Soft biological tissues often undergo large (nearly) elastic deformations that can be analyzed using the nonlinear theory of elasticity. Because of the varied approaches to nonlinear elasticity in the literature, some aspects of the subject may be difficult to appreciate. This book attempts to clarify and unify those treatments, illustrating the advantages and disadvantages of each through various examples in the mechanics of soft tissues. Applications include muscle, arteries, the heart, and embryonic tissues.

Book excerpt: Reissue of Encyclopedia of Physics / Handbuch der Physik, Volume VIa The mechanical response of solids was first reduced to an organized science of fairly general scope in the nineteenth century. The theory of small elastic deformations is in the main the creation of CAUCHY, who, correcting and simplifying the work of NAVIER and POISSON, through an astounding application of conjoined scholarship, originality, and labor greatly extended in breadth the shallowest aspects of the treatments of par ticular kinds of bodies by GALILEO, LEIBNIZ, JAMES BERNOULLI, PARENT, DANIEL BER NOULLI, EULER, and COULOMB. Linear elasticity became a branch of mathematics, culti vated wherever there were mathematicians. The magisterial treatise of LOVE in its second edition, 1906 - clear, compact, exhaustive, and learned - stands as the summary l of the classical theory. It is one of the great "gaslight works" that in BOCHNER'S words "either do not have any adequate successor[ s] . . . or, at least, refuse to be super seded . . . ; and so they have to be reprinted, in ever increasing numbers, for active research and reference", as long as State and Society shall permit men to learn mathe matics by, for, and of men's minds. Abundant experimentation on solids was done during the same century. Usually the materials arising in nature, with which experiment most justly concerns itself, do not stoop easily to the limitations classical elasticity posits.
