Book Handbook of Industrial Polyethylene and Technology

Download or read book Handbook of Industrial Polyethylene and Technology written by Mark A. Spalding and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2017-10-26 with total page 1671 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This handbook provides an exhaustive description of polyethylene. The 50+ chapters are written by some of the most experienced and prominent authors in the field, providing a truly unique view of polyethylene. The book starts with a historical discussion on how low density polyethylene was discovered and how it provided unique opportunities in the early days. New catalysts are presented and show how they created an expansion in available products including linear low density polyethylene, high density polyethylene, copolymers, and polyethylene produced from metallocene catalysts. With these different catalysts systems a wide range of structures are possible with an equally wide range of physical properties. Numerous types of additives are presented that include additives for the protection of the resin from the environment and processing, fillers, processing aids, anti-fogging agents, pigments, and flame retardants. Common processing methods including extrusion, blown film, cast film, injection molding, and thermoforming are presented along with some of the more specialized processing techniques such as rotational molding, fiber processing, pipe extrusion, reactive extrusion, wire and cable, and foaming processes. The business of polyethylene including markets, world capacity, and future prospects are detailed. This handbook provides the most current and complete technology assessments and business practices for polyethylene resins.

Book Organic Inorganic Hybrid Materials

Download or read book Organic Inorganic Hybrid Materials written by Jesús-María García- Martínez and published by MDPI. This book was released on 2021-10-27 with total page 188 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book deals with one of the most attractive fields in material science and technology research. In fact, the concept of organic–inorganic hybrid materials is applied to a wide variety of approaches that include materials with inorganic and/or organic nature with respect to their matrices and/or dispersed phase. The present book compiles one editorial and eleven approaches to the topic, and intends to provide a transversal idea about what the field of the so-called organic–inorganic hybrid materials means in actual scientific scenarios. In any case, the role is pointed out of the interphase between the components as the critical aspect to consider, as a way to enhance and understand these components in order to design materials with "tailor-made" organized structures considering the increasing nano-, meso-, micro- and macro-scales.

Book Metallocene based Polyolefins 2 Volume Set

Download or read book Metallocene based Polyolefins 2 Volume Set written by John Scheirs and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2000-01-21 with total page 568 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In the last three years, research into the nature and strength of metallocene-based materials has exploded. This is the first and only book to provide comprehensive coverage of the developments and advances in the field by such major polyolefin companies as Dow, Exxon, and Montell. The authors begin with overviews of metallocene catalysis and metallocene-based polyolefins, then discuss all areas of the technology, from applications to end-products.

Book Integration of Fundamental Polymer Science and Technology 2

Download or read book Integration of Fundamental Polymer Science and Technology 2 written by P.J. Lemstra and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 612 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Polymer science has matured into a fully accepted branch of materials science. This means that it can be described as a 'chain of knowledge' (Manfred Gordon), the beads of the chain representing all the topics that have to be studied in depth if the relationship between the structure of the molecules synthesized and the end-use properties of the material they constitute is to be understood. The term chain indicates the connectivity of the beads, i.e. the multidisciplinary approach required to achieve the aim, knowledge, here defined as quantitative understanding of the relationship mentioned above in all its parts. Quite a few conferences are being held at which the disciplinar beads themselves are discussed in detail, and new results within their framework are presented. In this respect, the TUPAC Microsymposia in Prague have made themselves indispensable, to mention one successful example. The bi annual TUPAC Symposia on Macromolecules, on the other hand, supply interdisciplinary meeting places, which have the advantage and the disadvantage of a large attendance. Smaller-size conferences of a similar nature can often be found on a national level. The organizers of the young, but already well-appreciated, Rolduc Meetings on the interplay between fundamental science and technology in the polymer field struck an interesting chord' when they realized that focussing on the basic science behind technological problems would serve the purpose of concentration on insight along the chain of knowledge and avoid the surrender to too large a size for the meeting to really be a meeting.
