Book MOLECULAR STRUCTURE AND SPECTROSCOPY

Download or read book MOLECULAR STRUCTURE AND SPECTROSCOPY written by G. ARULDHAS and published by PHI Learning Pvt. Ltd.. This book was released on 2007-06-09 with total page 448 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Designed to serve as a textbook for postgraduate students of physics and chemistry, this second edition improves the clarity of treatment, extends the range of topics, and includes more worked examples with a view to providing all the material needed for a course in molecular spectroscopy—from first principles to the very useful spectral data that comprise figures, charts and tables. To improve the conceptual appreciation and to help students develop more positive and realistic impressions of spectroscopy, there are two new chapters—one on the spectra of atoms and the other on laser spectroscopy. The chapter on the spectra of atoms is a detailed account of the basic principles involved in molecular spectroscopy. The chapter on laser spectroscopy covers some new experimental techniques for the investigation of the structure of atoms and molecules. Additional sections on interstellar molecules, inversion vibration of ammonia molecule, fibre-coupled Raman spectrometer, Raman microscope, supersonic beams and jet-cooling have also been included. Besides worked-out examples, an abundance of review questions, and end-of-chapter problems with answers are included to aid students in testing their knowledge of the material contained in each chapter. Solutions manual containing the complete worked-out solutions to chapter-end problems is available for instructors.

Book Tables of Spectral Data for Structure Determination of Organic Compounds

Download or read book Tables of Spectral Data for Structure Determination of Organic Compounds written by Ernö Pretsch and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-06-29 with total page 325 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Although numerical data are, in principle, universal, the compilations presented in this book are extensively annotated and interleaved with text. This translation of the second German edition has been prepared to facilitate the use of this work, with all its valuable detail, by the large community of English-speaking scientists. Translation has also provided an opportunity to correct and revise the text, and to update the nomenclature. Fortunately, spectroscopic data and their relationship with structure do not change much with time so one can predict that this book will, for a long period of time, continue to be very useful to organic chemists involved in the identification of organic compounds or the elucidation of their structure. Klaus Biemann Cambridge, MA, April 1983 Preface to the First German Edition Making use of the information provided by various spectroscopic tech niques has become a matter of routine for the analytically oriented organic chemist. Those who have graduated recently received extensive training in these techniques as part of the curriculum while their older colleagues learned to use these methods by necessity. One can, therefore, assume that chemists are well versed in the proper choice of the methods suitable for the solution of a particular problem and to translate the experimental data into structural information.

Book Organic Structure Determination Using 2 D NMR Spectroscopy

Download or read book Organic Structure Determination Using 2 D NMR Spectroscopy written by Jeffrey H. Simpson and published by Academic Press. This book was released on 2011-12-30 with total page 591 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "The second edition of this book comes with a number of new figures, passages, and problems. Increasing the number of figures from 290 to 448 has necessarily added considerable length, weight, and, expense. It is my hope that the book has not lost any of its readability and accessibility. I firmly believe that most of the concepts needed to learn organic structure determination using nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy do not require an extensive mathematical background. It is my hope that the manner in which the material contained in this book is presented both reflects and validates this belief"--

Book Fundamentals of Protein NMR Spectroscopy

Download or read book Fundamentals of Protein NMR Spectroscopy written by Gordon S. Rule and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2006-02-16 with total page 543 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: NMR spectroscopy has proven to be a powerful technique to study the structure and dynamics of biological macromolecules. Fundamentals of Protein NMR Spectroscopy is a comprehensive textbook that guides the reader from a basic understanding of the phenomenological properties of magnetic resonance to the application and interpretation of modern multi-dimensional NMR experiments on 15N/13C-labeled proteins. Beginning with elementary quantum mechanics, a set of practical rules is presented and used to describe many commonly employed multi-dimensional, multi-nuclear NMR pulse sequences. A modular analysis of NMR pulse sequence building blocks also provides a basis for understanding and developing novel pulse programs. This text not only covers topics from chemical shift assignment to protein structure refinement, as well as the analysis of protein dynamics and chemical kinetics, but also provides a practical guide to many aspects of modern spectrometer hardware, sample preparation, experimental set-up, and data processing. End of chapter exercises are included to emphasize important concepts. Fundamentals of Protein NMR Spectroscopy not only offer students a systematic, in-depth, understanding of modern NMR spectroscopy and its application to biomolecular systems, but will also be a useful reference for the experienced investigator.

Book Equilibrium Molecular Structures

Download or read book The Theory of Atomic Structure and Spectra written by Robert D. Cowan and published by Univ of California Press. This book was released on 2023-11-15 with total page 752 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Both the interpretation of atomic spectra and the application of atomic spectroscopy to current problems in astrophysics, laser physics, and thermonuclear plasmas require a thorough knowledge of the Slater-Condon theory of atomic structure and spectra. This book gathers together aspects of the theory that are widely scattered in the literature and augments them to produce a coherent set of closed-form equations suitable both for computer calculations on cases of arbitrary complexity and for hand calculations for very simple cases.
