Download or read book Structural Factors of Jointed Plain Concrete Pavements written by Y. Jane Jiang and published by . This book was released on 2005 with total page 193 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The SPS-2 experiment, "Strategic Study of Structural Factors for Jointed Plain Concrete Pavements (JPCP)," is one of the key components of the Long Term Pavement Performance (LTPP) program. The main objective of this experiment is to determine the relative influence and long-term effectiveness of JPCP design features (including slab thickness, portland cement concrete flexural strength, base type and drainage, and slab width) and site conditions (traffic, subgrade type, climate) on performance. This report documents the first comprehensive review and evaluation of the SPS-2 experiment

This book was released on 1994 with total page 184 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Specific Pavement Studies (SPS) portion examines specially constructed pavements, which will help develop better understanding of the effects on performance of a few targeted factors not widely covered in General Pavement Studies (GPS). SPS also explores options for construction of new pavements, the application of maintenance treatments to existing pavements, and the rehabilitation of distressed pavements. This report summarizes the status of SPS as of June 30, 1992.

Book Computer based Guidelines for Concrete Pavements

Download or read book Computer based Guidelines for Concrete Pavements written by and published by . This book was released on 2005 with total page 112 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This report documents enhancements incorporated in the (HIgh PERformance PAVing) HIPERPAV II software. Enhancements made within this project include the addition of two major modules: a module to predict the performance of jointed plain concrete pavement (JPCP) as affected by earlyage factors, and a module to predict the early-age behavior (first 72 hours) and early life (up to 1 year) of continuously reinforced concrete pavement (CRCP). Two additional Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) studies were also incorporated: one that predicts dowel bearing stresses as a function of environmental loading during the early age, and a module for optimization of concrete paving mixes as a function of 3-day strength, 28-day strength, and cost. Additional functionality to the software was also incorporated by reviewing and prioritizing the feedback provided by users of the first generation of the software, HIPERPAV I.

Book Incorporating Slab Underlying Layer Interaction Into the Concrete Pavement Analysis Procedures

Download or read book Incorporating Slab Underlying Layer Interaction Into the Concrete Pavement Analysis Procedures written by and published by . This book was released on 2017 with total page 270 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The research project investigated the interaction between the concrete slab and base layer in jointed plain concrete pavements (JPCP) and continuously reinforced concrete pavements (CRCP). The research study performed the following: 1. Reviewed literature characterizing the interaction between the slab and base layer; 2. Identified factors that influence slab-base behavior and pavement performance using full-scale pavement data and analysis methods; 3. Evaluated the AASHTO mechanistic empirical (M-E) models for JPCP and CRCP performance and structural friction models for slab base interaction; and 4. Investigated alternative models and modifications for the AASHTO M through E procedure to better account for the effects of slab base interaction on pavement performance.

Book Highway Research

Download or read book Highway Research written by Institution of Civil Engineers (Great Britain) and published by Thomas Telford. This book was released on 1991 with total page 468 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The level of research activity in the highway sector as a whole has declined precipitously in recent decades, whilst the challenges facing US state highway agencies have escalated. As a result, a Strategic Highway Research Program - SHRP) was initiated to establish collaboration with research bodies tackling similar highway problems in countries worldwide. This collection of reports from around the world presents SHRP`s progress towards providing research-based new products from which the international highway engineering community may benefit. SHRP concentrates on six high-priority research areas: asphaltic materials; pavement performance; cement and concrete; maintenance cost effectiveness; concrete bridge component protection systems and the chemical control of snow and ice.
