Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The book describes analytical methods (based primarily on classical modal synthesis), the Finite Element Method (FEM), Boundary Element Method (BEM), Statistical Energy Analysis (SEA), Energy Finite Element Analysis (EFEA), Hybrid Methods (FEM-SEA and Transfer Path Analysis), and Wave-Based Methods. The book also includes procedures for designing noise and vibration control treatments, optimizing structures for reduced vibration and noise, and estimating the uncertainties in analysis results. Written by several well-known authors, each chapter includes theoretical formulations, along with practical applications to actual structural-acoustic systems. Readers will learn how to use vibroacoustic analysis methods in product design and development; how to perform transient, frequency (deterministic and random), and statistical vibroacoustic analyses; and how to choose appropriate structural and acoustic computational methods for their applications. The book can be used as a general reference for practicing engineers, or as a text for a technical short course or graduate course.

Book Advances in Acoustics Technology

Download or read book Advances in Acoustics Technology written by J. M. Martin Hernandez and published by . This book was released on 1995-11-09 with total page 288 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Over the last thirty years the European aeronautical industry has achieved a respected and internationally successful position. This EC-Aeronautics Research Series provides the opportunity to present the results of recent research projects in areas critical to the future competitiveness of the industry in world markets. It contains Technical Publications of the completed EC-Aeronautics pilot phase project work, which has been supported under Area 5 : "Specific Activities Relating to Aeronautics" of the Brite/Euram Programme within the Second Framework Programme of European Community Activities in the Field of Research and Technology Development (1989?1992). This volume presents the three projects which, under this pilot phase, carried out work in three areas of noise and acoustics technologies: exterior noise, cabin noise, and acoustics loads in relation to structural fatigue.

Book Engineering Noise Control

Download or read book Engineering Noise Control written by David A. Bies and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2003-07-31 with total page 745 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The third edition of Engineering Noise Control has been thoroughly revised, updated and extended. Each chapter contains new material, much of which is not available elsewhere. The result is a comprehensive discussion of the theoretical principles and concepts of acoustics and noise control, a detailed discussion of the hearing mechanism, noise measuring instrumentation and techniques, noise criteria, sound source characterization and emission, outdoor sound propagation, sound in rooms, sound transmission through partitions, enclosure design, dissipative and reactive mufflers, vibration isolation, equipment sound power emission calculations and active noise cancellation. The book is an excellent text for advanced undergraduate or graduate students of acoustic and noise control, and it also contains essential information and prediction techniques that make it an invaluable resource for the practitioner.

Book Acoustical Materials

Download or read book Acoustical Materials written by Pranab Saha and published by SAE International. This book was released on 2021-08-11 with total page 320 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: What is acoustics? What is noise? How is sound measured? How can the vehicle noise be reduced using sound package treatments? Pranab Saha answers these and more in Acoustical Materials. Acoustics is the science of sound, including its generation, propagation, and effect. Although the propulsion sources of internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles and electric motor-powered vehicles (EV) are different and therefore their propulsion noises are different, both types of vehicles have shared noise concerns: Tire and road noise Wind noise Vehicle noise and vibration issues have been there almost from the inception of vehicle manufacturing. The noise problem in a vehicle is very severe and is difficult to solve only by modifying the sources of noise and vibration. Sound package treatments address the noise and vibration issues along the path to reduce in-cabin noise. In Acoustical Materials, readers will grasp the science of reducing sound and vibration using sound absorbers, sound barriers, and vibration dampers. Sound provides information on the proper operation of the vehicle, but if unchecked, can detract from the consumer experience within the vehicle and create noise pollution outside the vehicle. Acoustical Materials provides essential information on the basics of sound, vehicle noise source, how these are measured, how vehicle owners perceive sound, and ultimately, how to solve noise problems in vehicles using sound package materials.

Book Engineering Acoustics

Download or read book Engineering Acoustics written by Michael Möser and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-04-17 with total page 295 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Suitable for both individual and group learning, Engineering Acoustics focuses on basic concepts and methods to make our environments quieter, both in buildings and in the open air. The author’s tutorial style derives from the conviction that understanding is enhanced when the necessity behind the particular teaching approach is made clear. He also combines mathematical derivations and formulas with extensive explanations and examples to deepen comprehension. Fundamental chapters on the physics and perception of sound precede those on noise reduction (elastic isolation) methods. The last chapter deals with microphones and loudspeakers. Moeser includes major discoveries by Lothar Cremer, including the optimum impedance for mufflers and the coincidence effect behind structural acoustic transmission. The appendix gives a short introduction on the use of complex amplitudes in acoustics.

Book Multidisciplinary Design Analysis and Optimization of Aerospace Composites

Download or read book Multidisciplinary Design Analysis and Optimization of Aerospace Composites written by Charles Lu and published by SAE International. This book was released on 2019-04-30 with total page 232 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Multidisciplinary Design and Optimization of Aerospace Composite Materials is a collection of ten SAE technical papers focusing on the design analysis of aerospace composite structures from the perspective of various disciplines. The book concentrates on the following aspects: • Analytical methods for weight design of aircraft structures, including a parametric geometry model capable of generating dedicated models for both aerodynamic and structural solvers. • Methodologies for evaluating the structural performance of carbon/epoxy composite panels. • An aerodynamic design of flexible wings made of composite structures. • Thermal design and analysis of composite enclosures. • Methodologies for analyzing the acoustic performance of composite structures, including the design optimization method to evaluate the acoustic performance in terms of transmission loss (TL) of various composite panels. • The lightening effect on composites, presenting a theoretical method to compute the electrical current propagating through composite structures due to lightning strikes. • The issue of fire resistance as most polymer resins are flammable once the respective ignition temperatures are reached. • A probabilistic-based reliability analysis of the composite structures. The method is demonstrated on a graphite/epoxy composite space habitat subjected to the debris attacks. • A sustainability analysis of aircraft composite materials, including improved durability, less maintenance, and lower energy consumption.
