The meeting also provided the opportunity to discuss the functioning of the Consortium and to agree on the terms of collaboration. The Consortium is now in a strong position to raise additional resources to substantially increase investment in research on this important crop. This document provides further background information about the establishment of the Consortium and its aims and objectives. It also provides a review of the current status of Musa genomics research and provides details of the nature and scale of the work to be carried out by the Consortium members.
