Download or read book Stabilizers for Photographic Silver Halide Emulsions Progress in Chemistry and Application written by Gunther Fischer and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 388 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Stability is one of the most important performances required for silver halide photographic materials. In 1935, Dr. E. 1. Birr introduced the concept of the stabilization ofphotographic emulsions for the first time by inventing a most effective stabilizer, 4-oxo-6-methyl-l,3,3a,7-tetraazaindene (TAl). Dr. Birr's monograph Stabilization ofPhotographic Silver Halide Emulsions was published in 1974,and accepted as a reliable reference book by many photographic scientists and engineers. Since then, silver halide photographic materials have been greatly improved and expanded through active and continual development of various kinds of technologies. Especially, extensive efforts have been made to develop photographic materials with high sensitivity and rapid processing, which rely upon the stability ofphotographic emulsions under various conditions. Thus, the concept and technologies of stabilization ofphotographic silver halide materials have been expanded so extensively that many photographic scientists and engineers eagerly want a reliable, new reference book on the stabilization of photographic emulsions. Dr. Gunther Fischer is one of the most experienced and eminent scientists and engineers in the field of the stabilization of photographic materials with expanded concept. He has been involved in research on the stabilization of pho tographic emulsions since 1964 when he joined the Technical Scientific Laboratory in the Research and Development Department of the Photo Film Company Agfa Wolfen formerly headed by Dr. Birr, whom he succeeded in that position. I was deeply impressed by his fruitful and elaborate achievements in these fields.
Download or read book Advances in Heterocyclic Chemistry written by Alan R. Katritzky and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2011-08-09 with total page 279 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Written by established authorities in the field, the comprehensive reviews combine descriptive chemistry and mechanistic insight and yield an understanding of how the chemistry drives the properties. Volume 94 of Advances in Heterocyclic Chemistry commences with a review of cascade reactions on heterocyclic synthesis. The chapter presents a fascinating array of complex sequences which provide efficient routes to a wide variety of heterocyclic systems. The second chapter is the twelfth in the series on the organic chemistry of heterocyclic ligands in metallic complexes. The present contribution deals with the chemistry of polypyridine ligands in organomanganese and organorhenium complexes. Its current importance can be measured by the fact that, of the nearly 700 references, approximately half date from the last 10 years. Preparation of aminoisoxazoles and their utility in the synthesis of condensed systems are also covered. In the final chapter, isothiazolium salts and their use in synthesis are reviewed. Many condensed S,N-heterocyclic systems are described in this, the first review dedicated to this topic. Provides up-to-date material on a fast growing and highly topical subject area Contains the latest research covering a wide variety of heterocyclic topics Written by leading authorities and designed as a handbook for students and industry and academic researchers

Download or read book Lo Fi Photography written by John Beaver and published by Royal Society of Chemistry. This book was released on 2024-07-15 with total page 266 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Of all the arts, photography has perhaps the closest association with science and technology: the physics of light and colour combined with chemistry to capture images. Lo-Fi Photography is an ideal introduction to the science that lies behind photography and the array of simple methods that can be used to capture light and create images. From making homemade cameras to accessible techniques, the goal of this book is to provide all readers with access to this interesting form of creative photography via how-to guides, plans and some tips and tricks. In addition to the theory and hands-on guidance, this book also explores Lo-Fi photography as a distinct art form and provides further reading and excellent sources for diving even deeper into the world of experimental photography. Lo-Fi Photography is both a superb introduction to anyone curious about the science of photography and a first-rate guide to the world of experiemental photography for inquisitive photographers.
