Book Cooperation and Integration in 6G Heterogeneous Networks

Download or read book Cooperation and Integration in 6G Heterogeneous Networks written by Jun Du and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2022-12-08 with total page 461 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: To provide ubiquitous and various services, 6G networks tend to be more comprehensive and multidimensional by integrating current terrestrial networks with space-/air-based information networks and marine information networks; then, heterogeneous network resources, as well as different types of users and data, will be also integrated. Driven by the exponentially growing demands of multimedia data traffic and computation-heavy applications, 6G heterogenous networks are expected to achieve a high QoS with ultra-reliability and low latency. In response, resource allocation has been considered an important factor that can improve 6G performance directly by configuring heterogeneous communication, computing and caching resources effectively and efficiently. The book addresses a range of technical issues in cooperative resource allocation and information sharing for the future 6G heterogenous networks, from the terrestrial ultra-dense networks and space-based networks to the integrated satellite-terrestrial networks, as well as introducing the effects of cooperative behavior among mobile users on increasing capacity, trustworthiness and privacy. For the cooperative transmission in heterogeneous networks, the authors commence with the traffic offloading problems in terrestrial ultra-dense networks, and the cognitive and cooperative mechanisms in heterogeneous space-based networks, the stability analysis of which is also provided. Moreover, for the cooperative transmission in integrated satellite-terrestrial networks, the authors present a pair of dynamic and adaptive resource allocation strategies for traffic offloading, cooperative beamforming and traffic prediction based cooperative transmission. Later, the authors discuss the cooperative computation and caching resource allocation in heterogeneous networks, with the highlight of providing our current studies on the game theory, auction theory and deep reinforcement learning based approaches. Meanwhile, the authors introduce the cooperative resource and information sharing among users, in which capacity oriented-, trustworthiness oriented-, and privacy oriented cooperative mechanisms are investigated. Finally, the conclusion is drawn.

Book Real Time Sensor Networks and Systems for the Industrial IoT

Download or read book Real Time Sensor Networks and Systems for the Industrial IoT written by Christos Koulamas and published by MDPI. This book was released on 2020-11-18 with total page 242 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Industrial Internet of Things (Industrial IoT—IIoT) has emerged as the core construct behind the various cyber-physical systems constituting a principal dimension of the fourth Industrial Revolution. While initially born as the concept behind specific industrial applications of generic IoT technologies, for the optimization of operational efficiency in automation and control, it quickly enabled the achievement of the total convergence of Operational (OT) and Information Technologies (IT). The IIoT has now surpassed the traditional borders of automation and control functions in the process and manufacturing industry, shifting towards a wider domain of functions and industries, embraced under the dominant global initiatives and architectural frameworks of Industry 4.0 (or Industrie 4.0) in Germany, Industrial Internet in the US, Society 5.0 in Japan, and Made-in-China 2025 in China. As real-time embedded systems are quickly achieving ubiquity in everyday life and in industrial environments, and many processes already depend on real-time cyber-physical systems and embedded sensors, the integration of IoT with cognitive computing and real-time data exchange is essential for real-time analytics and realization of digital twins in smart environments and services under the various frameworks’ provisions. In this context, real-time sensor networks and systems for the Industrial IoT encompass multiple technologies and raise significant design, optimization, integration and exploitation challenges. The ten articles in this Special Issue describe advances in real-time sensor networks and systems that are significant enablers of the Industrial IoT paradigm. In the relevant landscape, the domain of wireless networking technologies is centrally positioned, as expected.

Book Stability Analysis of Interconnected Random Access Networks

Download or read book Stability Analysis of Interconnected Random Access Networks written by L. Merakos and published by . This book was released on 1986 with total page 46 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This document considers the interconnection of two multiple-access/broadcast networks, each of which connects a large population of bursty users via packaet-switched, random-access channel. In each network a station, called bridge node, receivers internetwork packets from the local users and forwards them to the bridge node of the destination network via a point-to-point link; the bridge node of the destination network places these internetwork packets in its queue for subsequent broadcasting to the local users. Considered are two ways of multiplexing the local traffic and the internetwork traffic: contention multiplexing and channel division multiplexing. Under contention multiplexing, the bridge node uses the same random-access channel that the local users use, and therefore it participates in the contention. Under channel division multiplexing, the channel in each of the two networks is subdivided into a node subchannel, used exclusively by the bridge node, and a random-access channel, used by the local users.

Book An Introduction to Cellular Network Analysis Using Stochastic Geometry

Download or read book An Introduction to Cellular Network Analysis Using Stochastic Geometry written by Jeffrey G. Andrews and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2023-06-30 with total page 99 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book provides an accessible yet rigorous first reference for readers interested in learning how to model and analyze cellular network performance using stochastic geometry. In addition to the canonical downlink and uplink settings, analyses of heterogeneous cellular networks and dense cellular networks are also included. For each of these settings, the focus is on the calculation of coverage probability, which gives the complementary cumulative distribution function (ccdf) of signal-to-interference-and-noise ratio (SINR) and is the complement of the outage probability. Using this, other key performance metrics, such as the area spectral efficiency, are also derived. These metrics are especially useful in understanding the effect of densification on network performance. In order to make this a truly self-contained reference, all the required background material from stochastic geometry is introduced in a coherent and digestible manner. This Book: Provides an approachable introduction to the analysis of cellular networks and illuminates key system dependencies Features an approach based on stochastic geometry as applied to cellular networks including both downlink and uplink Focuses on the statistical distribution of signal-to-interference-and-noise ratio (SINR) and related metrics

Book Performance Analysis of Multiple Access Protocols

Download or read book Performance Analysis of Multiple Access Protocols written by Shūji Tasaka and published by MIT Press. This book was released on 1986 with total page 292 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Broadcast media, such as satellite, ground radio, and multipoint cable channels, can easily provide full connectivity for communication among geographically distributed users. One of the most important problems in the design of networks (referred to as packet broadcast networks) that can take practical advantage of broadcast channels is how to achieve efficient sharing of a single common channel. Many multiple access protocols, or algorithms, for packet broadcast networks have been proposed, and much work has been done on the performance evaluation of the protocols. A variety of techniques have been used to analyze the performance; however, this is the first book to provide a unified approach to the performance evaluation problem by means of an approximate analytical technique called equilibrium point analysis. Two types of packet broadcast networks - satellite networks and local area networks are considered, and eight multiple access protocols are studied and their performance analyzed in terms of throughput and average message delay. Contents Part I: Fundamentals - Multiple Access Protocols and Performance - Equilibrium Point Analysis - Part II: Satellite Networks - S-ALOHA - R-ALOHA - ALOHA-Reservation - TDMAReservation - SRUC - TDMA - Performance Comparisons of the Protocols for Satellite Networks - Part III: Local Area Networks - Buffered CSMACD - BRAM Performance Analysis of Multiple Access Protocols is included in the Computer Systems Series, Research Reports and Notes, edited by Herb Schwetman.
