Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Bringing Christ Back is a priceless and practical theology desperately needed by the modern church to drag it out of its doldrums—far too many of its “average” believers are finding no release from agonizing chains of sin. Its knife-edged message is that the powerful presence of Christ seems to be withdrawn from the church as crucial truths about our Lord are reduced to common platitudes. When Christ is brought back as the center of faith in fact, not just in theory, believers will experience his deliverance from sin through the power of the Holy Spirit.

Book Bright Light A Lifetime of Seeing God at Work

Download or read book Bright Light A Lifetime of Seeing God at Work written by Harold E. Burchett and published by Bringing Christ Back Ministries. This book was released on with total page 107 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Bright Light tells the story of God visibly at work in and through the life of pastor and revivalist Harold Burchett, now (March 2016) ninety-one years old. What Harold has seen and reports here are not flashy “signs and wonders” in the traditional sense but other ways that God has unmistakably shown up in Harold’s experience and ministry. He tells his story in three parts. 1. “God’s work in me—first”: from a loving, God-centered childhood into the rough-and-tumble world of a reporter for his local newspaper—and then, while still a teenager, to war in the South Pacific on a U.S. Navy destroyer. Prayers answered in the war zone, along with practices learned for reaching the hearts of his faith-mocking fellow sailors, set a fire in Harold’s heart that shapes his entire career. 2. “God’s work in my public ministry”: scenes from Harold’s life as an itinerant evangelist and settled pastor. Through prayer and with total confidence in God’s power to change lives on the basis of Jesus’ sacrificial death on the cross, Harold ministers in public settings from New Brunswick to Virginia. He details some of the notable results. 3. “God’s work in my personal encounters”: stories of individuals who experience the Lord’s personal rescue from a wide variety of crippling issues through Harold’s prayers and words. Those early shipboard lessons on how to be a “fisher of men” (Mark 1:17) clearly have paid off! The book concludes with pointed summaries of lessons learned and of life-advice, especially for readers hungry to experience the same Bright Light that Harold has seen.

Book The Book of Proverbs and Wisdom

Download or read book The Book of Proverbs and Wisdom written by Curt Tomlin and published by Elm Hill. This book was released on 2020-01-07 with total page 850 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The author of The Book of Proverbs and Wisdom, A Reference Manual, Curt “CT” Tomlin, was inspired by the Holy Spirit to write “The Book” to enhance and illuminate Christian understanding of the Old Testament’s Book of Proverbs. The author received instructions from the Holy Spirit to write an 'illuminated', The Book of Proverbs and Wisdom, A Reference Manual, whereby every Proverbs verse, would be positioned and contained, in one or more Chapter Theme(s); Accordingly, each Chapter Theme(s), characterizes and reflects, the various Proverbs verses listed and/or contained in the Biblical 'Book of Proverbs'; Thus, every Proverbs verse(s), phrase and/or series of Proverbs verses, has been positioned into one or more of the 70 Chapters contained in “The Book”. Additionally, as it is more often the case, that a specific Proverbs verse, might be listed within multiple Chapter Themes! For example, one of my all-time favorite Proverbs verses is Proverbs 1:7, which states--"The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge, But fools despise wisdom and instruction". Accordingly, you will find this Proverbs verse listed in six different Chapter Themes, namely: (a) 'Fear of the LORD'; (b) 'Knowledge'; (c) 'Fools/Foolishness'; (d) 'Hate/Despise'; (e) 'Wisdom'; and (f) 'Instruction', based on the 'key word(s)' listed above. Additionally, I have used, the NKJV version of the Bible, including this version’s citations; Punctuations; Fonts and Appropriateness for Inclusion, for said Chapter Theme. Within “The Book”, each Proverbs verse is included or assigned to a specific Chapter Theme, based on such key word(s), phrase(s) or overall Chapter Theme associated with such Proverbs verse. For example: Where there is a direct, one-on-one tie in to a Chapter Theme from a Proverbs verse, then such key word has been, bolded, underscored, and italicized. Additionally, The Book of Proverbs and Wisdom, A Reference Manual, contains the author's notations to most of the Biblical Proverbs verses, such that the following author's notations are specified: For many Biblical Proverbs verses, the author assigned a: One (*); Two (**); or Three (***) notation for that Proverbs verse, and such a rating, from his perspective, represents how that Proverbs verse, spoke to his heart, i.e. "Good*", "Better**", or "Best***". Uniquely, ALL category Three (***) Proverbs verse notations, have been "Bolded", where such Proverbs verse appears within The Book of Proverbs and Wisdom, A Reference Manual. For example, Proverbs 1:7--"The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge, But fools despise wisdom and instruction", appears in the already mentioned Chapter Themes in a 'bold' fashion. Another unique characteristic of The Book of Proverbs and Wisdom, A Reference Manual, is that, on numerous occasions within a particular Chapter Theme, the author includes surrounding Proverbs verse(s) within such specific Chapter Theme verse notation, such that in his opinion, including such ancillary Proverbs verses, helps to "illuminate" such Proverbs verse(s) for that particular Proverbs Theme. Thus, 'one size' or one Proverb verse, may not fully provide, the spiritual wisdom, knowledge, discernment and/or instructional message that such Proverbs verse might say, on a standalone basis. Finally, one truly unique characteristic, that has been incorporated into the body of The Book of Proverbs and Wisdom, A Reference Manual, is the inclusion of what is being characterized as a "Chapter Narrative", which precedes each Chapter Theme, and represents either, the author's personalized reflection of how the upcoming Chapter Theme(s) impacted the author's Life, or it reflects the author's interpretation of how that Chapter Theme(s), has spoken to the author, for inclusion into The Book of Proverbs and Wisdom, A Reference Manual. Enjoy and may God's Blessings enrich your study, journey and illumination contained within The Book of Proverbs and Wisdom, A Reference Manual!!!!! To God Be The GLORY!!!!

Book That All May Be Edified

Download or read book That All May Be Edified written by Boyd K. Packer and published by . This book was released on 2006-10-01 with total page 368 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Each person has the capacity for growth and the potential to reach perfection," writes Elder Boyd K. Packer of the Quorum of the Twelve. As if written personally for and to each member of the Church, the book reflects the author's awareness of individual concerns, the struggle to progress, to accept change, to become perfect. That All May Be Edified concentrates on building the building of souls. Exquisitely detailed illustrations of basic structural forms introduce the seven sections into which the book is divided: The foundation of the edifice is instruction. Walls of encouragement are lifted up. Comfort spreads a shelter against despair. Windows of enlightment let in the light of faith. A closed door symbolizes a warning, for there are places that we must not enter if we are to be protected against danger. An exhortation is a buttress to correct error and strengthen the structure. Pure witness becomes the steeple, the capstone, the pinnacle. Each section begins with a specially written commentary and includes some of Elder Packer's most memorable addresses and writings on such timely tops as the plan of salvation, thought control, prayer, miracles, nonmember spouses, family life, marriage, morality, obedience, the arts, the Atonement, and many more. The author's clear expression, creative presentation, and powerful testimony ensure that every reader will indeed be edified.

Book Christian Spirituality

Download or read book Christian Spirituality written by Arthur Holder and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2009-09-10 with total page 393 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Christian Spirituality: The Classics is a unique and comprehensive guide to thirty key Christian spirituality texts. Ranging from Origen and Augustine to Jonathan Edwards, Thérèse of Lisieux and Thomas Merton, it offers a view of the texts which is founded in scholarship, but which also presents them as living documents that invite- even compel -contemplative reflection and existential response. Each chapter briefly describes the classic text’s author and audience, gives a synopsis of its contents, suggests some of its influence in history, and then explores aspects of the text’s meaning for readers today. Key themes include: What is the meaning of life? How can human beings find truth? How can they discover who they really are? How can they live together in peace? How can they live more fully in God’s presence in this world and be united with God in the world to come? The scholars who have written these chapters are all experts on their respective topics, but they wear their learning lightly. Anyone wishing to discover the riches of Christian spirituality will find this the ideal introduction and should be able to progress to a deeper understanding of the texts themselves.

Charismata is a Greek word meaning "gifts of grace." It refers to the gifts or special abilities given to Christians by the Holy Spirit--all the gifts, not just speaking in tongues or miracles or healing. • What are the 19 gifts? • Are they all for today? • What is their purpose? • How can we discover and put to use our own gifts? All of these questions, plus a careful examination of gifts revealed in the Bible, are included in this in-depth study, first published in 1974. If you want to know what the Bible says about spiritual gifts, this book is for you. Dr. Leslie Flynn is the former pastor of Grace Conservative Baptist Church in Nanuet, New York, where he served for 40 years.
