Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "When do the Lebesgue-Bochner function spaces contain a copy or a complemented copy of any of the classical sequence spaces?" This problem and the analogous one for vector- valued continuous function spaces have attracted quite a lot of research activity in the last twenty-five years. The aim of this monograph is to give a detailed exposition of the answers to these questions, providing a unified and self-contained treatment. It presents a great number of results, methods and techniques, which are useful for any researcher in Banach spaces and, in general, in Functional Analysis. This book is written at a graduate student level, assuming the basics in Banach space theory.

Book Banach Function Spaces of Vector Valued Functions

Download or read book Banach Function Spaces of Vector Valued Functions written by Robert Ryan and published by . This book was released on 1962 with total page 1 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The study of Banach spaces is considered, the elem nts of which are classes of measurable functions defined on a locally compact Hausdorff space with values in a fixed Banach space. Th norms of the spaces tudied are expressed in terms of length functions defined for positive measurable functions. Certain properties of the length function and the range space of the vector valued functions are reflected in the Banach function space. A representation is established of the dual spaces of these Banach function spaces in certain cases. (Author).

Book Three space Problems in Banach Space Theory

Download or read book Three space Problems in Banach Space Theory written by Jesus M.F. Castillo and published by Springer. This book was released on 2007-12-03 with total page 280 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book on Banach space theory focuses on what have been called three-space problems. It contains a fairly complete description of ideas, methods, results and counterexamples. It can be considered self-contained, beyond a course in functional analysis and some familiarity with modern Banach space methods. It will be of interest to researchers for its methods and open problems, and to students for the exposition of techniques and examples.

Book History of Banach Spaces and Linear Operators

Download or read book History of Banach Spaces and Linear Operators written by Albrecht Pietsch and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2007-12-31 with total page 877 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Written by a distinguished specialist in functional analysis, this book presents a comprehensive treatment of the history of Banach spaces and (abstract bounded) linear operators. Banach space theory is presented as a part of a broad mathematics context, using tools from such areas as set theory, topology, algebra, combinatorics, probability theory, logic, etc. Equal emphasis is given to both spaces and operators. The book may serve as a reference for researchers and as an introduction for graduate students who want to learn Banach space theory with some historical flavor.

Book Saks Spaces and Applications to Functional Analysis

Download or read book Saks Spaces and Applications to Functional Analysis written by J.B. Cooper and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2011-08-18 with total page 383 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The first edition of this monograph appeared in 1978. In view of the progress made in the intervening years, the original text has been revised, several new sections have been added and the list of references has been updated. The book presents a systematic treatment of the theory of Saks Spaces, i.e. vector space with a norm and related, subsidiary locally convex topology. Applications are given to space of bounded, continuous functions, to measure theory, vector measures, spaces of bounded measurable functions, spaces of bounded analytic functions, and to W*-algebras.

Book Introduction to Tensor Products of Banach Spaces

Download or read book Vector Measures written by Joseph Diestel and published by American Mathematical Soc.. This book was released on 1977-06-01 with total page 338 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this survey the authors endeavor to give a comprehensive examination of the theory of measures having values in Banach spaces. The interplay between topological and geometric properties of Banach spaces and the properties of measures having values in Banach spaces is the unifying theme. The first chapter deals with countably additive vector measures finitely additive vector measures, the Orlicz-Pettis theorem and its relatives. Chapter II concentrates on measurable vector valued functions and the Bochner integral. Chapter III begins the study of the interplay among the Radon-Nikodym theorem for vector measures, operators on $L_1$ and topological properties of Banach spaces. A variety of applications is given in the next chapter. Chapter V deals with martingales of Bochner integrable functions and their relation to dentable subsets of Banach spaces. Chapter VI is devoted to a measure-theoretic study of weakly compact absolutely summing and nuclear operators on spaces of continuous functions. In Chapter VII a detailed study of the geometry of Banach spaces with the Radon-Nikodym property is given. The next chapter deals with the use of Radon-Nikodym theorems in the study of tensor products of Banach spaces. The last chapter concludes the survey with a discussion of the Liapounoff convexity theorem and other geometric properties of the range of a vector measure. Accompanying each chapter is an extensive survey of the literature and open problems.

Book Pettis Integral and Measure Theory

Download or read book Pettis Integral and Measure Theory written by Michel Talagrand and published by American Mathematical Soc.. This book was released on 1984 with total page 238 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: We present a self-contained account of measure theory and integration in a Banach space. We give a detailed analysis of the weak Baire probabilities on a Banach space E, and on its second dual. Scalarly (= weak) measurable functions valued in E are studied via their image measure and it is shown how to regularize them using lifting. General criteria are given to ensure that they are Pettis integrable. This study relies on tools from topological and abstract measure theory.

Book Descriptive Topology in Selected Topics of Functional Analysis

Download or read book Descriptive Topology in Selected Topics of Functional Analysis written by Jerzy Kąkol and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2011-08-30 with total page 494 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "Descriptive Topology in Selected Topics of Functional Analysis" is a collection of recent developments in the field of descriptive topology, specifically focused on the classes of infinite-dimensional topological vector spaces that appear in functional analysis. Such spaces include Fréchet spaces, (LF)-spaces and their duals, and the space of continuous real-valued functions C(X) on a completely regular Hausdorff space X, to name a few. These vector spaces appear in functional analysis in distribution theory, differential equations, complex analysis, and various other analytical settings. This monograph provides new insights into the connections between the topological properties of linear function spaces and their applications in functional analysis.
