Download or read book Life in Christ written by William Robert West and published by AuthorHouse. This book was released on 2015-09-29 with total page 705 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: What do you believe about souls? There are many very different doctrines taught in the world today concerning souls that are believed to be in all humans. By most a soul is believed to be something that is wholly apart from the person a soul is in; that a soul is something that is that is believed to be complete in its self without the person; it will live after the person it is in is dead; it is believed that a soul will exist forever without the person; it will never be dead; therefore, a soul cannot be resurrected from the dead. It is believed that a soul must live someplace forever, and it will live either in Heaven or Hell even if there is no resurrection. The doctrine of unconditional immortality of a deathless soul being in a person, and that soul leaving that person at the death of the person makes it impossible for Christ to have give His life to save that soul from death; if a soul had immortality it would already have life and could never not have life; all Christ could do is give it a reward or punish it.

Download or read book Scoffers written by Simon Turpin and published by New Leaf Publishing Group. This book was released on 2021-08-25 with total page 257 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The pervasive influence of unbelievers is a force that demands an answer from the body of Christ. Scoffers: Responding to Those Who Deliberately Overlook Creation and the Flood offers a strong defense for biblical authority equipping believers to stand firm, preach the truth, and make disciples. “The reality of the biblical account of the Flood is that it is a horrifying account of judgment but also one of glorifying redemption.” The scoffers of Peter’s day were very much like modern-day skeptics in that they deliberately overlook the facts of biblical history. The cost of their unbelief is catastrophic even within the Christian church. Author Simon Turpin, the executive director of Answers in Genesis in the U.K., prepares us to confidently counter the philosophical bias of scoffers by: Revealing how the Gospel of salvation can only be understood in light of the Genesis account of a six-day creation and the global Flood. Providing an in-depth analysis of 2 Peter 3 to defend the biblical account of Creation against the false notions propagated by scoffers. Presenting a strong defense for the coming of Christ and Christianity for those who have rejected the truths found in Genesis 1 – 11. Scoffers gives today’s Christian families and leaders a strong defense for the authority of God’s Word helping the Church to “withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand” Ephesians 6:13.
Download or read book Universalism and Particularism at Sodom and Gomorrah written by Diana Lipton and published by Society of Biblical Lit. This book was released on 2012-03-01 with total page 253 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book reexamines the Sodom and Gomorrah narrative in Genesis 18–19, an ethically charged text that has significantly influenced views about homosexuality, stereotyping the other, the rewards and risks of hospitality, and the justice owed to outsiders. Its twelve essays, reflecting their authors’ considerable geographical, religious, methodological, and academic diversity, explore this troubling text through the lens of universalism and particularism. Biblical Sodom is read as the site of multiple borders—fluid, porous, and bi-directional—between similar and different, men and angels, men and women, fathers and daughters, insiders and outsiders, hosts and guests, residents and aliens, chosen and nonchosen, and people and God. Readers of these exegetically and theologically attentive essays published in memory of Ron Pirson will experience a rare sense of an ancient text being read in and for the modern world. The contributors are Calum Carmichael, Diana Lipton, William John Lyons, Nathan MacDonald, Amira Meir, Yitzhak (Itzik) Peleg, T. A. Perry, Ron Pirson, Jonathan D. Safren, Megan Warner, Harlan J. Wechsler, and Ellen J. van Wolde.
Download or read book The Destruction of Sodom Gomorrah and Jericho written by David Neev and published by Oxford University Press, USA. This book was released on 1995 with total page 188 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The story of the destruction of Sodom, Gomorrah, and Jericho--three cities situated along a major fault line extending 1,100 kilometers from the Red Sea to Turkey--is the oldest such description in human history. In this book, noted geologists K.O. Emery and David Neev have revisited that story to shed light on what happened there some 4,350 years ago. With all the benefits of modern geological and forensic science techniques at their disposal, the authors explore an area where earthquakes, volcanic activity, variations in the Dead Sea's level, and oscillations between arid and wet climates have affected life there for over 10,000 years. In reviewing the geology, biblical paleogeography, and limnology of the region, the authors have produced fascinating insights into the tectonic and climatic changes that have occurred in the region over the last 6,000 years and how those changes have affected cultural life in the Middle East. The Destruction of Sodom, Gomorrah, and Jericho is the first book to combine modern science and biblical archaeology to produce an authoritative account of the of these three great cities. It will fascinate students and researchers in geology, geophysics, and archaeology alike.
