Book POETRY

  • Author : Ron Matsusaki

  • Pages : 369 pages

Download or read book POETRY written by Ron Matsusaki and published by Xlibris Corporation. This book was released on 2023-07-23 with total page 369 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book of poetry spans two decades of my life and my heart. This book is not just a book of poetry. Rather, it is a book of insights about life that gleaned personally over two decades. More than the entertainment value the poems may provide, I share with you something much deeper. To assist you, I have tried to categorize the themes in chapters and provide explanatory endnotes and cross-references. My first poem, “RUNNING,” was written in 2002 during a time of turmoil in my life. I was looking for an answer as to why my life seemed to be going downhill. “RUNNING,” therefore, was written with a negative bias toward myself. The poems that followed were largely based on experiences that, in one way or another, also touched my heart. I call poetry ‘The Music of My Heart” because, in them, my heart speaks, singing a fanciful or heavy song, or something in between. I write in a style I call “freelance.” They may rhyme or they may not rhyme, or they might be a mixture of both. Almost all poems are metaphors. Almost all bear a message that is usually expressed in the last verse. I often personify “inanimate” objects. When I begin a poem, I have no idea, whatever, of what a poem is about to express. I just let my heart speak. I never plan a poem: a word or phrase randomly pops into my mind, I sit down, and I let my heart say what it tells me it has to say. Only at the end do I know what I have just written and give it a title. The first half of the book contains the lighter poems, and the second half contains heavier moods and themes. The transition occurs in PRINCE EDWARD ISLAND. The poems are sectioned according to theme, but there is considerable overlap. I have provided explanatory endnotes, especially for the poems of PRINCE EDWARD ISLAND which may have esoteric references (e.g., “DEVIL’S TABLE,” “THE DEVIL’S PRICE”). If, however, you, the reader, derive a personal insight/benefit from any given poem, I suggest you refrain from reading the endnote. Doing so could change the benefit you derive. I emphasize that this is your book to derive whatever you might. I purposely left UNIVERSE, the most important chapter, to the end, as UNIVERSE expresses the denouement of my life.

Book Dancing the Tao

    Book Details:
  • Author : Sandra J. Lindow
  • Publisher : Cambridge Scholars Publishing
  • Release : 2012-11-15
  • ISBN : 1443843024
  • Pages : 285 pages

Download or read book Dancing the Tao written by Sandra J. Lindow and published by Cambridge Scholars Publishing. This book was released on 2012-11-15 with total page 285 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Dancing the Tao: Le Guin and Moral Development takes an original approach to Ursula K. Le Guin’s work – speculative fiction, poetry and children’s literature – by considering her Taoist upbringing and then looking through the lens of moral development theorists such as Carol Gilligan and Mary Field Belenky, and psychologists such as Lenore Terr and Jennifer J. Freyd. It is the most comprehensive approach to Le Guin’s moral thinking to date. A particular emphasis is put on Le Guin’s depiction of physical and sexual child abuse and its long term aftereffects such as post traumatic stress disorder. The focus throughout the book is on how morality develops through self-awareness and voice, how moral decisions are made and how Le Guin challenges readers to reconsider their own moral thinking. This book covers all of Le Guin’s major works such as The Left Hand of Darkness, The Dispossessed, the Earthsea Series, Always Coming Home, The Telling and Lavinia, and it also looks in depth at work that is rarely discussed such as Le Guin’s early work, her poetry, and her picture books.

Book Music of the Wild

  • Pages : 196 pages

Download or read book Music of the Wild written by Gene Stratton-Porter and published by Jazzybee Verlag. This book was released on 2017-02-06 with total page 196 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The same intense love of out-door beauty which makes us all remember Mrs. Gene Stratton-Porter's stories is shown in this book, a large volume with an ampler range of subject than the title would suggest. To the author's open mind the "music" of owl and hawk and bat belong to the " Chorus of the Forest" as well as that of chewink or grosbeak, and her delicate ear catches also the fairy sayings of moth and flower. Her judgment is not warped, because she knows which song is sweetest; but she insists that each angel have his due whether he be black or white. So crow and cricket, hop-toad and katy-did, have their meed of praise.
