This book was released on 2018 with total page 129 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Teacher turn over has been a concern over the last 30 years in the United States. The implementation of No Child Left Behind Act in 2002 impacted the accountability of teachers. This quantitative, correlation study endeavors to determine the relationship between teacher self-efficacy and job satisfaction. Within this study, teachers of a Title I school in the largest school district in a southern state were surveyed via hard copy. The Tschannen-Moran instrument, Teachers’ Sense of Efficacy Scale (2001), was used to identify three subscales: student engagement, instructional strategies, and classroom management. The Job Satisfaction Survey collected participants’ general satisfaction by analyzing nine subscales resulting in one unique satisfaction score. Finding a positive correlation between self-efficacy and job satisfaction will be beneficial to resource managers and principals as they attempt to lessen teacher turnover and increase resiliency in the field.

Book Teacher Professional Development in Changing Conditions

Download or read book Teacher Professional Development in Changing Conditions written by Douwe Beijaard and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2005-12-12 with total page 353 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book presents some highlights from the deliberations of the 2003 conference of the International Study Association on Teachers and Teaching (ISATT). Part 1 presents the five keynote addresses of the conference, while Parts 2 through 4 present selected papers related to each of three sub-themes: knowledge construction and learning to teach, perspectives on teachers’ personal and professional lives, and teachers’ workplace as context for learning. The chapters in this book provide an array of approaches to understanding the process of teacher learning within the current context of the changing workplace environment. They also provide an important international perspective on the complex issues revolving around the international educational reform movement. Basically, they show how teachers’ workplace (inside and outside schools) are more than ever subject to continuous change and that, subsequently, standards for teaching must be flexible to these changing conditions. This asks for a redefinition of teacher professionalism in which the role of context in teacher learning is emphasized as well as the improvement of the quality of teacher thinking and learning. Related to the ever-changing context of teaching, a dynamic approach to teaching and teacher learning is required, in which identity development is crucial. Researchers have an important role to play in revealing and explaining how teachers can build their professional identity, through self-awareness and reflection, in the ever-changing educational contexts throughout the world.

Book Successful Teacher Personality and Other Correlates

Download or read book Successful Teacher Personality and Other Correlates written by Elena Mirela Samfira and published by Frontiers Media SA. This book was released on 2023-11-08 with total page 191 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The question of what makes a good teacher has been asked by practitioners, policymakers, and researchers. Teachers are important drivers of student success in the immediate term, such as academic success. Nowadays, the education process is influenced by various factors which can all have a strong effect on the quality of teaching and learning. Having the intention to create high-quality teaching and learning, it is very important to clearly determine what those factors are, and what kind of effect they have on the education process. Different teacher characteristics and competencies have been distinguished in the literature as being relevant predictors of their instructional quality. Even though educational psychology has emphasized the significance of the personality role in the education process, the empirical evidence on the relationship between teacher characteristics and instructional quality is not yet conclusive. Certainly, there is much more to find out.

Book Teacher Self efficacy Job Satisfaction and Burnout Amid the COVID 19 Pandemic

Download or read book Teacher Self efficacy Job Satisfaction and Burnout Amid the COVID 19 Pandemic written by Jaimee A. Hager and published by . This book was released on 2022 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Teachers are consistently faced with adversity, which can affect their ability to feel efficacious in their position, causing them to experience a decrease in their job satisfaction and putting them at risk for burnout. Recently, teachers have experienced significant changes in education, as the COVID-19 pandemic has increased illnesses and forced necessary safety adaptions in the educational setting. This study is a quantitative research design. Participants included 40 elementary teachers from Isle of Wight County Schools in Virginia. Participants were provided a link or QR code to access the survey. This study used a Pearson Correlation to measure relationships between teacher self-efficacy, job satisfaction, burnout, and stress from the COVID-19 pandemic. Results from these statistical analyses indicated no significant relationships between teacher self-efficacy, job satisfaction, burnout, and stress from the pandemic, as measured by Likert-scaled surveys. The lack of significant correlations for teacher self-efficacy, burnout, and stress related to the pandemic were likely due to statistical power. Similar results for a larger sample size would have yielded results of stronger statistical significance. While results were not statistically significant, previous research indicates the need to provide teachers positive support, learning opportunities, and an encouraging atmosphere to promote a positive sense of self-efficacy and happiness in the workplace, despite unique adversities, such as the COVID-19 pandemic.
