Book Selected Systems from C Cr Fe to Co Fe S

Download or read book Selected Systems from C Cr Fe to Co Fe S written by Materials Science and International Team, MSIT® and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2008-02-14 with total page 721 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Volume 11 of group IV presents phase diagrams, crystallographic and thermodynamic data of ternary alloy systems. The subvolume D deals with iron systems, with part 2 considering selected systems from C-Cr-Fe to Co-Fe-S. At ambient pressure the equilibria of each individual ternary system are discussed as functions of temperature yielding spatial diagrams whose sections and projections are displayed. The phase equilibria are described in terms of liquidus, solidus and solvus projections, isothermal, vertical and quasibinary sections. Data on invariant equilibria are generally given in the form of tables and reaction schemes. The volume forms a comprehensive review and rigorous systematization of the presently available data. For each system the often conflicting literature and contradictory information has been thoroughly evaluated by a team of experts, MSIT, and can thus be presented in a standard format. Back to the year 1900 the literature has been reviewed, implying possible reinterpretations from today's state of knowledge, and incorporated in the volume. The tables and diagrams are preceded by descriptive commenting texts.

Book Binary Systems and Ternary Systems from C Cr Fe to Cr Fe W

Download or read book Binary Systems and Ternary Systems from C Cr Fe to Cr Fe W written by Peter Franke and published by Springer. This book was released on 2012-04-19 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Following the publication of a first set of four volumes of SGTE compiled thermodynamic properties of inorganic substances, which dealt with pure substances (Subvolume A) and a second set of five volumes with selected thermodynamic data for binary alloy systems (Subvolume B), this set of volumes focuses on data for ternary systems for one vitally important specific class of materials, steels. Various diagrams for each system are presented, calculated from a specially developed SGTE database for steels. Background information is also presented for each system. The fundamental equations used in evaluating the data are given in the introduction to the volumes and the models used in representing the data are also described. For this volume a steel database has been compiled, consisting of 11 elements: Fe, C, N, Cr, Mn, Mo, Ni, Si, Ti, V, and W. With this selection of elements a broad range of steels and cast irons is covered. The database allows not only calculations within the included assessed systems but it is also capable of interpolating into regions which are not well-known. Typical steel databases are confined to the Fe-rich corner. Contrary to that the present compilation covers the composition range of all evaluated systems as much as possible.

Book Practical Handbook of Material Flow Analysis

Download or read book Practical Handbook of Material Flow Analysis written by Paul H. Brunner and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2016-04-19 with total page 333 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The first-ever book on this subject establishes a rigid, transparent and useful methodology for investigating the material metabolism of anthropogenic systems. Using Material Flow Analysis (MFA), the main sources, flows, stocks, and emissions of man-made and natural materials can be determined. By demonstrating the application of MFA, this book reveals how resources can be conserved and the environment protected within complex systems. The fourteen case studies presented exemplify the potential for MFA to contribute to sustainable materials management. Exercises throughout the book deepen comprehension and expertise. The authors have had success in applying MFA to various fields, and now promote the use of MFA so that future engineers and planners have a common method for solving resource-oriented problems.

Book Properties and Applications of Nanocrystalline Alloys from Amorphous Precursors

Download or read book Properties and Applications of Nanocrystalline Alloys from Amorphous Precursors written by Bogdan Idzikowski and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2005-07-18 with total page 453 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Metallic (magnetic and non-magnetic) nanocrystalline materials have been known for over ten years but only recent developments in the research into those complex alloys and their metastable amorphous precursors have created a need to summarize the most important accomplishments in the field. This book is a collection of articles on various aspects of metallic nanocrystalline materials, and an attempt to address this above need. The main focus of the papers is put on the new issues that emerge in the studies of nanocrystalline materials, and, in particular, on (i) new compositions of the alloys, (ii) properties of conventional nanocrystalline materials, (iii) modeling and simulations, (iv) preparation methods, (v) experimental techniques of measurements, and (vi) different modern applications. Interesting phenomena of the physics of nanocrystalline materials are a consequence of the effects induced by the nanocrystalline structure. They include interface physics, the influence of the grain boundaries, the averaging of magnetic anisotropy by exchange interactions, the decrease in exchange length, and the existence of a minimum two-phase structure at the atomic scale. Attention is also paid to the special character of the local atomic ordering and to the corresponding interatomic bonding as well as to anomalies and particularities of electron density distributions, and to the formation of metastable, nanocrystalline (or quasi-crystalline) phases built from exceptionally small grains with special properties. Another important focus of attention are new classes of materials which are not based on new compositions, but rather on the original and special crystalline structure in the nanoscale.
