Book excerpt: This book contains partly sections that have never previously been published, and partly earlier contributions that have been thoroughly revised. They are concerned with the use of texts from the Hebrew Bible for historical research. The first chapter offers a general introduction, in which a new method of establishing the historical value of biblical texts is described and elucidated. The second chapter concerns the Ark Narrative (I Sam. iv-vi; II Sam. vi) in its historical context. In the third chapter, the relationship between the literary structure and the historical value of the Moabite inscription of king Mesha is investigated. In the fourth chapter, problems relating to the Hezekiah narratives (Isa. xxxvi-xxxix; II Kings xviii-xx) are discussed, to wit, the primacy of the Isaiah version, the literary unity and historicity of the story; the theological purpose of the speeches and Sennacherib's letter. The last chapter focuses on the representation of king Manasseh in II Kings xxi and II Chronicles xxxiii.

Download or read book Understanding The Prophetic written by Tanya E. Munroe and published by Pro Type. This book was released on 2020-02-14 with total page 52 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: How would you know if you are prophetic? What about your dreams and the voices you have been hearing? There is so much to the prophetic than the declarations you've heard, witnessed or read. The contents of this book is an eye opener and will edify and empower you to see, hear, feel, write and speak prophetically. Understanding The Prophetic is a study guide and workbook combined. The author addresses prophetic writers (scribes), psalmists, dancers, hearers, seers (watchmen), those who feel and smell prophetically and also dreamers. If it is within you, after reading this book, the prophetic will be recognized, stirred up and activated. "How desperate are you to know what is to come next, happen next or the end of a matter? When we disconnect from fellowship with the saints of God, dishonor and disrespect our spiritual leaders, repeatedly walk in disobedience, we can no longer hear our Father's voice." - Tanya E. Munroe
