Book excerpt: “DESTINY” is a book recording the continual soul expansion of the seeker, Peter James Ford. Peter’s journey began after a powerful spiritual experience in the little historic seaport in Newburyport, Massachusetts. In Peter’s late night meditations which were along the Merrimac River, the boardwalk, the Salisbury Reservation on the Atlantic Ocean, Plum Island, Maudsley Estate State Park, Pow Wow Hill (Native American Burial Grounds) and Old Hill Burial Grounds he was having vivid visions in his mind of ‘seeming’ past life experiences and powerful insights. Peter began seeing the hidden secrets of this quaint little seaport that people never take the time to see. Peter’s intuition and senses increased in an almost scary powerful way giving Peter wisdom from unseen sources. One source may be the Akashic Records/Library that is not a physical library but a place in the ethers that contains all the wisdom and knowledge ever known to anyone over the eons. We can access this power through ancient spiritual practices and apparently Peter has done just that. Stories and Tales began flowing from Peter and he wrote his first book. In the last three years Peter has written ten more books and shares everything he has found from his journeys to the inner worlds. Peter wrote a seven-book series under the title “MYSTICISM IN NEWBURYPORT” then the eighth and ninth bonus/companion books called “MYSTIC” & “VISION QUEST.” Then “SHAMBHALA’S GHOSTS” was to join the collection of mystical tales. Now you are holding his new writings in your hands. Peter laughingly calls himself “An Unlikely Messenger” as his younger years were nothing resembling anything spiritual. So, here is the story of just another seeker realizing his divinity and returning to his own heart...

Comprehensive and readable, well organized and up to date, 'Worlds Apart' stands alone. After introducing the meaning and function of a world view, the authors explore the seven major world views of our day -- theism, atheism, pantheism, pantheism, deism, finite godism, and polytheism. They delineate the varieties within each view, analyze the beliefs of its major representatives, and outline and evaluate its basic tenets. The authors present the seven world views in such a way that one can compare and contrast these views. ÒIt is our hope,Ó they write, Òthat [readers] will carefully consider all the options and then decide, even if it means discarding the world view [they] now have.Ó In this revised edition the authors have updated the text and bibliography, rewritten several sections, and included suggested readings for each world view. Like the original edition, published in 1984, this volume contains a glossary of terms and an index of subjects and names.

Book Forgotten Satoris Don t Count

Download or read book Forgotten Satoris Don t Count written by Vincent Lynch and published by One Hand Books. This book was released on 2019-09-15 with total page 179 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book, a forty-two-year-long life journey, delivered in thirty-two chapters takes you across the country and around the world with a man seeking answers to the age old questions about the meaning of existence. The author’s life is presented chronologically in concise views that are not just personal but tied to the context of the changing times. As it demonstrates a life evolving it also illustrates the environment that informs that evolution. The book takes you from an idyllic childhood on the Jersey Shore in the late 40’s and early 50’s; through the protest days of the 60’s in Berkeley and the S.F. Bay Area counterculture revolution of the 70’s-80’s; to the day after the San Francisco Loma Prieta earthquake of 1989. Vincent Lynch has led his life always as an artist, albeit often in different media with different results. His life as a journey is representative of the times in which he lived, fragmented and in constant change but always from a singular point of view. Whichever role he is playing, it is always executed with the same focused dedication and with the layman’s open acceptance of the unexpected.

Along her journey she meets friends who promise to help her, barely escaping monsters like Suffocation and Reality who almost steal her imagination along with all the color in her life. As she comes to the end of her path, she begins to understand what wholeness truly means and how it is the quest itself that has shown her the meaning. It all begins...with a quest.

Book Ideogram

  • Author : Laszlo K. Géfin
  • Publisher : University of Texas Press
  • Release : 2014-07-03
  • ISBN : 0292772904
  • Pages : 182 pages

Download or read book Ideogram written by Laszlo K. Géfin and published by University of Texas Press. This book was released on 2014-07-03 with total page 182 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The ideogram changed the course of modern American poetry, and Ideogram is the first history of this important poetic tradition. In modern poetry the ideogram is an idea presented to the reader by means of the juxtaposition of concrete particulars, usually without connective words or phrases. The poem is therefore presented in precise images, usually very tersely, and free from conventional form and meter. The idea of presenting a concept in this manner derives in part from Ernest Fenollosa's essay "The Chinese Character as a Medium for Poetry," the Chinese written character itself being a juxtaposition of pictographs to form a new meaning. Ezra Pound's search for an alternative to traditional forms of verse composition resulted in his use of the ideogrammic method which, Laszlo K. Géfin asserts, became the major mode of presentation in twentieth-century American poetry. Two generations of avant-garde, experimental poets since Pound have turned to it for inspiration, evolving their own methods from its principles. Géfin begins by tracing the development of Pound's poetics from the pre-Imagist stage through Imagism and Vorticism to the formulation of the ideogrammic method. He then examines the Objectivist poetics of Louis Zukofsky, Charles Reznikoff, and George Oppen; the contributions to the ideogrammic tradition of William Carlos Williams; and the Projectivist theories of Charles Olson, Robert Duncan, and Robert Creeley. He concludes with an exploration of Allen Ginsberg's theory of the ellipse and Gary Snyder's "riprap" method. Throughout, Géfin maintains that the ideogrammic mode is the literary representation of the twentieth-century post-logical—even post-humanist—world view.

Book excerpt: Recent thinking in the interfaith dialogue and in the theology-science dialogue have taken a “pneumatological turn.” The Cosmic Breath explores this pneumatological theology as unfolded in the Christian-Buddhist dialogue alongside critical interaction with the theology-and-science conversation. As an attempt in comparative and constructive Christian philosophical theology, its central thesis is that a pneumatological approach to Buddhist traditions in further dialogue with modern science generates new philosophical resources that invigorate Christian thinking about the natural world and humanity’s place in it. The result is a transformation of the Buddhist-Christian dialogue from insights generated in the theology-and-science interface and a contribution to the religion-and-science dialogue from a comparative theological and philosophical perspective.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book contains a number of essays which D.T. Suzuki wrote from time to time concerning the specificity and uniqueness of Zen Buddhism, or the school of Buddhism that values meditative practice more than philosophical thinking. This book may be considered as an introduction to Zen on account of the concern shown for such themes which a beginner needs to know.In the very first essay is explained as to what Zen way of life denotes. Many find it difficult to comprehend the language of Zen. That is the author has made an attempt at clarifying the Zen idea of a koan, which is a paradoxical question verging almost on absurdity. It is believed that enlightenment or satori comes to be once a koan is understood. The book offers a rich banquet to those who want to taste the flavour of the feast of Zen.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this essential companion to the classic The Inward Morning, sixteen distinguished contemporary philosophers celebrate Henry Bugbee’s remarkable philosophy. The essays trace his explorations of thought, emotion, and the need for a sense of place attuned to wilderness. Representing a range of traditions, the thinkers included here touch on an equally broad spectrum of inquiry, including existential philosophy, religion, and environmental studies. The essays progress from general introductions to considerations of more specific themes in Bugbee’s philosophy to reflections on the man as teacher, mentor, and friend. Provocative in their own right, these contributions provide a commentary on The Inward Morning. This volume thus becomes a valuable tool for the careful reader seeking to fully appreciate the vivid text that has inspired it while at the same time offering insight into contemporary issues in the philosophy of nature.

Discovering for ourselves the meaning of the master's response is the urgent work of each of us who yearns to be free and at peace. "Practicing Mu" is synonymous with practicing Zen, "sitting with Mu" is an apt description for all Zen meditation, and it is said that all the thousands and thousands of koans in the Zen tradition are just further elaborations of Mu. This watershed volume brings together over forty teachers, ancient and modern masters from across centuries and schools, to illuminate and clarify the essential matter: the question of how to be most truly ourselves. Includes writings from: Dogen, Hakuin, Dahui, Thich Thien-An Zenkei Shibayama, Seung Sahn, Taizan Maezumi, Sheng Yen Philip Kapleau, Robert Aitken, Jan Chozen Bays, Shodo Harada Grace Schireson, John Daido Loori, John Tarrant Barry Magid, Joan Sutherland, and many more!
