Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Dockside is burning, and it’s up to everybody’s least favorite Army-surplus cyborg to fix it. It starts when somebody takes a hit out on The Chairman, and quickly spirals into a mystery that takes Roland and his hyper-kinetic partner Lucia far from New Boston and into the depths of unregulated star systems. To save his home, Roland will need to figure out who would risk upsetting the delicate truce in Dockside before the peace crumbles and the streets run red with blood. Unfortunately for the pair of them, it could be anyone! Everybody wants to control the docks and everybody hates the Chairman. Is it the Pirate King of frontier space? Is it the gigantic mega-corporation who is tired of the docks being harassed? Is The Combine finally falling apart? Could it be… Rodney the Dwarf? It’s probably not Rodney, but Roland will need to ask hard questions of some hard people. It’s a good thing Roland is the kind of guy who knows how to get answers. The guns will blaze and the fists will fly as the galaxy’s least likely duo of problem-solvers hop the next ship to deep space and teach a whole new crop of mad science gone awry that wherever The Fixer goes: HELL FOLLOWS.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Roland Tankowicz wasn’t even legally a person anymore. The aging cyborg had never really recovered from being betrayed and enslaved by his superiors in the Army, and the final insult of being permanently classified as “defunct military ordnance” had been a bitter pill to swallow. For the last three decades, he's avoided dealing with this by drinking beer and working as a fixer for the crime families in 25th-century Boston. It's easy money when you're the kind of guy who is bullet-proof and can pick up a house. But then Lucia Ribiero stumbles into his favorite watering hole dragging a squad of bounty hunters behind her. Shadows from his own dark past, and old debts still unpaid conspire to drive the old war-horse out for one more mission. Like any good soldier, the mission is all that matters for Roland. What follows is action and adventure on a scale the galaxy may never recover from. In this volume be prepared to see Roland fight cyborgs, gangsters, mercenaries, crime lords, mutants and at least one angry corporate executive as he starts down the ugly path to redemption. The guns will blaze and fists will fly, but before the dust settles a whole galaxy's worth of mad science gone awry will learn a painful lesson about letting sleeping dogs lie. Collected here are the first three full-length novels in the critically-acclaimed tech-noir phenomenon known as: THE FIXER

Book excerpt: Due to a personnel error, a young Army Staff Sergeant is assigned to Vietnam as an Intelligence Annalist and immediately assigned to a combat unit where he led a POW Contact Team responsible for evaluating enemy prisoners. Knowing that if he determined the POWs were of no intelligence value, they would be turned over to the local South Vietnamese Commander, and would probably be executed. During this assignment he was involved in an ambush which left two of his team wounded. Then went on a covert assignment into Cambodia to find a downed pilot. When the MACV(Military Assistance Command Vietnam) Unit he was assigned to was reorganized the was mistakenly assigned to the 1st Air Cavalry Division just a day prior to the largest combat air lift in the Vietnam war. Within a six hour period an entire combat brigade including artillery was airlifted to within 4 miles of the besieged Marines at Khe Sanh. When MACV Headquarters located their missing Sergeant, he received orders reassigning from the 1st Air Cavalry back to MACV where he was assigned to a Phoenix Program assassination team made up of former Foreign Legionnaires that stayed in Vietnam after the French left. Recommended for this assignment by his old nemesis Jack Roark. Roark is allegedly a Cultural Attaché with the Embassy, but is in fact a C.I.A. case officer, and it is not the first time he has involved himself with the young Sergeant's career.

Book Exploring Interconnectedness

Download or read book Exploring Interconnectedness written by Katja Gorbahn and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2023-06-22 with total page 375 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume explores the socio-cultural and media background of a critical and ongoing political challenge: the complex entanglement between European integration and strong national agendas in the context of globalisation. It does so using educational media - both textbooks and digital media - as sites of cultural contestation to enquire into the intricate relationships around national and European identities and aspects of students’ knowledge and reception. Using a variety of methods and technologies, the chapters analyse identity constructions present in educational media discourses, embedded as they are in their national and European contexts and as both the catalysts and products of their time. The book is a study of the post-digital condition in an educational context, exploring the potential of digital humanities and linguistic approaches for educational media research and employing methods such as eye-tracking or concept maps.

Book Building Bridges Curricula Notes

Download or read book Building Bridges Curricula Notes written by Dr. Debra E.S. Bogle and published by Archway Publishing. This book was released on 2019-07-18 with total page 611 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Children develop on an exponential basis, and teachers must guide them in a conscientious manner. This community-based curriculum promotes supporting teachers, parents, and especially children. The conceptual framework places the child at the center and seeks to bring together multiple perspectives to allow for inquiry in every contextual experience. The contributors argue that we must: • endeavor to continuously create a child-centered, research-based curriculum that is inclusive, innovative, sensitive, holistic, progressive, global, and democratic; • support the importance of multiple perspectives shaping our dialogue and our community; • envision learning as a series of joyful discoveries that prepare children to reach into their creative capacities and develop a lifelong love of learning. We must embrace philosophical discourse in order to grow as people and as active members of our communities – and we must see children as people with rights, inherent value, knowledge, competencies, and understanding. Examine the ways we educate children with a holistic, caring, and dynamic perspective and start helping students succeed with the findings and insights in Building Bridges.
