Download or read book Key to Parasitic Nematodes Volume 1 Spirurata and Filariata written by Skryabin and published by BRILL. This book was released on 1991-11 with total page 509 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is the first in a series which forms a part of the rich Soviet helminthological literature published in recent years. It deals with 197 species of nematodes belonging to suborders Spirurata and Filariata, re-examining and revising earlier descriptions and concepts related to them. A historical survey of the taxonomy of worms is given first, with keys to the various major groups and diagnoses of the nematode subclasses and orders. Even at this stage, certain new and interesting ideas are put forward. After a general account of the morphology and anatomy of each suborder, a diagnosis of each genius is given, together with an outline and drawing of its type species.

Download or read book Key to Parasitic Nematodes Volume 2 Oxyurata and Ascaridata written by K I Skryabin and published by BRILL. This book was released on 2023-08-14 with total page 715 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Volume 2 offers a unique classification of two large suborders of nematodes: Oxyurata and Ascaridata. A total of 748 species, constituting 146 genera and 21 families, distributed among 4 superfamilies - Oxyuroidea, Subuleroidea, Cosmocercoidea, and Atractoidea - are included in the suborder Oxyurata. Another 424 species, included in 44 genera and 5 families, distributed in 2 superfamilies - Ascaridoidea and Anisakoidea - comprise the suborder Ascaridata. The present work is unique not only because it represents the first classification of all the known memgers of the suborder Oxyurata, and a radical revision of the taxonomy of the suborder Ascaridata, but also for defining taxonomic features for every taxon based on both the literature published in the last 100 years and extensive personal research. Helminthologists will welcome this book for two reasons: its obvious value in systematizing the oxyurids identified up to 1950 into a cohesive, scientifically well founded taxonomic subdivision of Nematoda, and as a collation of all the material published worldwide on members of the suborder Oxyurata available to the authors at that time.

Download or read book Parasite Adaptation to Environmental Constraints written by R. C. Tinsley and published by Cambridge University Press. This book was released on 1999 with total page 156 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Parasites experience two environments; one reflecting external conditions, the other created by the living host. The subjects of this volume are relevant to evolution, ecology, physiology, biochemistry, immunology, molecular biology and phylogenetic analysis. Papers review familiar and unfamiliar extreme physical conditions from low temperatures and desiccation to the powerful water currents faced by some fish parasites. The environment created by the host and parasite adaptation to host immunity is covered in several papers, including immune evasion, host-switching and the effect of parasites on the evolution of immunity.
