Book Removing the Mysteries of Christianity

Download or read book Removing the Mysteries of Christianity written by Tony Murray and published by Dog Ear Publishing. This book was released on 2007-09 with total page 105 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: God has always been the same. Though people change, human nature remains the same from the time of Adam and Eve. Forces, that include angels and evil spirits, have been in existence for ages and have built barriers between God and His creation. Scripture explains much of the associated mysterious evidence that has been uncovered by science. God's plan is to reconcile to Himself as many as would be willing. He revealed and confirmed this plan (and continues to do so), by the work of His Spirit, through the lives of many. This plan is framed and executed by love. In order to participate in God's plan, exposure to this largely misunderstood love is required. Since the plan is communicated through imperfect people, it is often misunderstood and rejected. This book is for assisting God's people to obtain an improved understanding of both His love and His plan. TONY MURRAY Raised in denominational churches, the author helped start and served for years as assistant pastor in non-denominational churches in Ohio. He then served as pastor for a period of time. For over twenty years he worked in the training profession while observing the reactions and tendencies of people as they dealt with various circumstances. He recognized, first in himself but in others also, that these reactions and tendencies varied very little regardless of someone's abandonment to a church, person or cause. He sees that, while it is a decent gesture to commit to one's concept of Christianity, Christ often is not served. Misconceptions about God abound. He resolved to stress that the responsibility of the Christian is to abandon themselves completely to the person and teaching of Christ Jesus. Anything less will result in falling short of impacting the world the way that God desires.

Book The Mysteries of Christianity

Download or read book The Mysteries of Christianity written by Matthias Joseph Scheeben and published by Emmaus Academic. This book was released on 2023-03-17 with total page 926 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Mysteries of Christianity is Matthias Joseph Scheeben’s youthful magnum opus, a logically rigorous and spiritually profound dogmatic theology. In its pages, he explores the intelligibility of Christianity’s supernatural mysteries and their deep connectedness, ultimately demonstrating that Christian theology constitutes a science before the court of human reason, even as its object transcends human comprehension. Scheeben’s task is to present a unified view of the whole panorama of revealed truth, and he pursues this by considering nine key Christian mysteries: the Trinity, creation, sin, the Incarnation, the Eucharist, the Church and its sacraments, justification, eschatological glory, and predestination. Since the mystery of the Trinity is the root of the supernatural order, Scheeben begins here, showing that the foundation of the salvific economy lies in the eternal processions of persons in God—the begetting of the Son and the spiration of the Spirit being in different ways the cause of the life of grace in the human soul. When the Son and the Spirit are sent into the world in the Incarnation and through the bestowal of grace, they provide the way for human beings to see God face-to-face in the beatific vision, the end for which God created humans. Among the means of return to God, Scheeben particularly emphasizes the Eucharist, on account of its close connection with the mystery of the Incarnation. By placing his treatment of the Eucharist before that of the Church, he signals that his is a genuinely Eucharistic ecclesiology, centered on the abiding presence of the incarnate divine Son.

Book excerpt: Mystery of the Church presents a global picture of the main themes of current ecclesiology. First, it deals with the institution of the Church and her essential nature. Subsequently the four hallmarks of the Church are described. Her unity and holiness are guaranteed by the sanctity of Christ her Head despite the sinfulness of her members. The catholicity of the Church is also examined from the perspective of Eastern Christendom. The apostolicity of the Church leads to a description of the Petrine Office. The Church is seen as the instrument of salvation, and her relationship with the State and with science is investigated. Finally the Church is pictured as leading to the Kingdom of God. This is the fifth volume of Fr Paul Haffner's systematic exposition of theology - previously published volumes in this series: Mystery of Creation, The Mystery of Mary, The Mystery of Reason, The Sacramental Mystery. Paul Haffner is a priest and professor of theology at Regina Apostolorum University in Rome, visiting professor at the Pontifical Gregorian University, and adjunct lecturer at Duquesne University Roman Campus.

Download or read book Signs and Mysteries written by Mike Aquilina and published by Our Sunday Visitor. This book was released on 2008-08-04 with total page 266 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Imagine the dangerous life of an early Christian. You've embraced your newfound faith in Christ but fear the risk of persecution or death at the hands of the pagans living around you. Then a trusted friend tells you about some of Jesus' followers who secretly meet. He whispers into your ear, "Look for a fish carved in a paving stone" by a certain home on the Via Tiburtina. You smile in gratitude. Still today, modern society recognizes those Christian symbols that kept the early Christians safely connected: they appear on churches, bumper stickers, mugs -- even mints and stuffed animals. Yet we are often ignorant of the rich meaning of these symbols: their origins in Scripture, in ancient culture, and in the preaching of the Church Fathers. In this book, noted author Mike Aquilina conducts an intriguing and insightful tour of the symbols that expressed the life and devotion of the Church through the first four centuries of its existence. He explains how Christians freely borrowed pagan and Jewish symbols, giving them new, distinctly Christian meanings. Recover the zeal of our spiritual ancestors as you learn to read their symbolic language -- and discover the impact the symbols still have on your life today. More than a hundred illustrations, reproduced by artist Lea Marie Ravotti from the ancient originals, beautifully complement the text. Book From the Mysteries

    Book Details:
  • Author : Hermann Beckh
  • Publisher : Temple Lodge Publishing
  • Release : 2020-06-03
  • ISBN : 1912230445

Download or read book From the Mysteries written by Hermann Beckh and published by Temple Lodge Publishing. This book was released on 2020-06-03 with total page 321 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In the early part of the last century, Professor Hermann Beckh began a search to discover the truth about the Mystery wisdom of antiquity. As a recognized authority on Buddhist texts, he knew that complete knowledge of such Mysteries was not to be found within the limitations of waking consciousness, sense perception and logic. Beckh was already aware that Gautama Buddha had indicated the stages of higher knowledge. Furthermore, his studies of Rudolf Steiner’s anthroposophical teachings revealed that such knowledge could be experienced directly, given disciplined meditation. Clairvoyant cognition included the conscious penetration of sleep consciousness, the dream state and an experience of pre-natal consciousness. Both the Mysteries and Rudolf Steiner’s major books, he concluded, were founded on the same perceptions. Beckh – a worldwide expert on Tibetan, Sanskrit, Pali and Avestan texts – quickly became disenchanted with Madame Blavatsky’s Theosophy, as it displayed little precise academic knowledge of primary records. At the same time, university departments showed scant trace of understanding the texts they analysed through philology and sociology. Thus, based on comprehensive studies and personal experience, he resolved to present his own perceptions and vision to the public. The results are to be found in this invaluable book, bringing together for the first time in English three groundbreaking publications: Our Origin in the Light (Genesis 1-9) (1924); Zarathustra (1927) and From the World of the Mysteries (1927), as well as five of Beckh’s articles from contemporary periodicals.
