Book Reflections on the World of Human Inspirations

Download or read book Reflections on the World of Human Inspirations written by Gabriel Bekö and published by Cambridge Scholars Publishing. This book was released on 2024-01-11 with total page 332 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Inspiration is the initial spark that puts us on track towards our beliefs, attitudes, and actions. It partly defines who we are and whom we will become. But what are the sources of our inspirations, what governs them, how do they take shape in our lives and how are our lives shaped by them? Can they be right and wrong, and do we have the power to control them? This book provides an analysis of the historical, geographical, and cultural aspects of those countless moments that ignite our passions, guide our efforts, or cause the lack of both. Through the study of human inspirations, the author elaborates a variety of issues, including current societal, political, and global challenges, spirituality, human character, individualism, education, as well as the contrast between what used to be the political East and West, communism and capitalism. The book offers an intriguing look at the inflation of inspirations in our rapidly changing societies and its global implications. It fuses numerous fields to offer a refined view of the world and ourselves in it. Do advanced societies consist of advanced individuals, or is it time to reassess our values, redefine our principles, and seek inspirations that dare to question the status quo and introduce us to a category of dignity that moves us closer to a truly advanced world?

Download or read book Be Special Be Yourself for Teenagers written by Ronit Baras and published by Be Happy in LIFE. This book was released on 2005 with total page 169 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A collection of 8 inspirational stories for teens, about teens, their families, their relationships, their challenges and their triumphs. Most of the characters in this book are real, except for their names and a few other details. Some live in the future, some have problems reading, some just moved to a new school and some struggle with domestic violence. They are normal kids with real challenges and inspiring solutions. Whether they are different, from the future, from a different country or have special circumstances, the characters of Be Special, Be Yourself for Teenagers, teenagers and adults, deal with the dilemma of giving up their significance to gain love. They struggle with body image, social acceptance, family relationships, school, diversity and inclusion. Invariably, it's their attitude that determines their fate. "Bojé's Magic Powder" is the story of Sam, who feels different and isolated because of her eating habits, while her classmates think she has an advantage. "Beauty Queen" is the story of Michelle, a beautiful girl with a secret, who must work out the priorities in her life and find her inner beauty. "Be Special, Be Yourself" is the story of Adam, who migrates to another country and tries to fit in, without giving up his values. "Curly Line with Flowers" is the story of Jessie, a dyslexic girl, who writes a diary of her brave struggle for acceptance. "The Building of Life" describes one class' attempt to create a perfect setup for a group of people living in a building, while coming to grips with some of the realities of their own life. "The Guidance Counselor" is the story of Tommie, who is physically abused and builds his inner strength to set himself free. "Love Me, Love Me Not" is a "chain story" about the desire that teenagers and adults have to be loved and things they will do to fulfill that desire. "Biography" is the story of Daniel, who finds out, with the help of a classmate, just how much he is loved by the people around him. The author says, "This book is a tribute to my heroes, teens and parents, teachers and friends, people I had met throughout my life, had been great inspiration to me and needed to be known. It is about teens who are juggling the need to be unique with the need to be loved and accepted by others and their wonderful ways to be true to themselves."

Book Art History as a Reflection of Inner Spiritual Impulses

Download or read book Art History as a Reflection of Inner Spiritual Impulses written by Rudolf Steiner and published by SteinerBooks. This book was released on 2016-06-01 with total page 778 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: 13 slide presentations, Dornach, Oct. 8, 1916 - Oct. 29, 1917 (CW 292) "I am going to show you a series of reproductions, of slides, from a period in art history to which the human mind will probably always return to contemplate and consider; for, if we consider history as a reflection of inner spiritual impulses, it is precisely in this evolutionary moment that we see certain human circumstances, ones that are among the deepest and most decisive for the outer course of human history, expressed through a relationship to art." --Rudolf Steiner Rudolf Steiner understood that the history of art is a field in which the evolution of consciousness is symptomatically and transparently revealed. This informal sequence of thirteen lectures was given during the darkest hours of World War I. It was a moment when the negative consequences of what he called the age of the consciousness soul, which began around 1417, were made most terribly apparent. In these lectures he sought to provide an antidote to pessimism. After describing the movement of consciousness from Greece into Rome, coupled with influences from the Orthodox East, he showed how these influences transformed as the Middle Ages became the Renaissance. The process that begins with Cimabue and Giotto develops, deepens, and becomes more conscious in the great Renaissance masters Leonardo, Michelangelo, and Raphael. Then this movement continues with the Northern masters, Dürer and Holbein, as well as the German tradition. One entire lecture is devoted to Rembrandt, followed by one on Dutch and Flemish paintings. Themes are woven together to show how past epochs of consciousness and art live again in our consciousness-soul period. Replete with interesting information and more than 600 color and black-and-white images, these lectures are rich and dense with ideas, enabling us to understand both the art of the Renaissance and the transformation of consciousness it announced. These lectures demonstrate (to paraphrase Shelley) that artists truly are the unacknowledged legislators of the age. Art History as a Reflection of Inner Spiritual Impulses is a translation from German of Kunstgeschichte als Abbild innerer geistiger Impulse (GA 292, Rudolf Steiner Verlag, 2000).

Book Reflections on Pope Francis s Encyclical Laudato si

Download or read book Reflections on Pope Francis s Encyclical Laudato si written by John Arthur Orr and published by Cambridge Scholars Publishing. This book was released on 2020-05-15 with total page 225 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume represents a collection of essays by emerging and well-established Catholic scholars on Laudato si’, Pope Francis’s encyclical on the environment. All contributors are connected with the Maryvale Institute in Birmingham, the only Vatican approved Higher Institute of Religious Sciences in the English-speaking world. When it appeared, Laudato si’ was widely welcomed by many, and strongly criticised by others. All agreed that the encyclical was an important voice in the environmental debate. As this book suggests, however, Laudato si’ is more than an encyclical on the environment: it is a thorough examination of the human condition in the early twenty-first century. Essays in this volume focus on the philosophical, textual, ecological, anthropological and theological aspects of Laudato si’, place it in a specific history of ideas, and contemplate its meaning for the modern world. Laudato si’ has been widely discussed in religious and secular circles alike, and this book will enhance the understanding of the text for both.

Keep your fears to yourself, but share your courage with others. Never put the key to your happiness in someone else's pocket. Quantity is what you count; quality is what you count on. Very few burdens are heavy if everyone lifts. These are just a few of the quotations that I have included in this book. It is a culmination of over four decades of gathering quotes and sayings, noticing church and marquee signs and bumper stickers and, most recently, researching on the Internet. In the preface for this book, I went through and listed quotes that meant a lot to me, but as I look back, I realize that they all mean something to me. I hope that you can use them for motivation, reflection, and inspiration.

Download or read book Foundational Reflections written by H.A. Durfee and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 302 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The American University Publications In From its inception Philosophy has continued the direction stated in the sub-title of the initial volume that of probing new directions in philosophy. As the series has developed these probings of new directions have taken the two fold direction of exploring the relationships between the disparate traditions of twentieth century philosophy and with developing new insights into the foundations of some enduring philosophic problems. This present volume continues both of these directions. The interaction between twentieth-century Anglo-Saxon and Continental philosophy which was an implicit theme of our first and third volumes and the explicit subject of our second volume is here continued in a series of studies on major figures and topics in each tradition. In the context of these interpretative studies, Professor Durfee returns again and again to the question of the relationships between the will and the reason, and explores the conflicting goals of creativity and objectivity in formulating a philosophic position. In so doing he raises the issue as his title suggests - of the foundations of philosophy itself. He seriously challenges the belief common to both pheomenology and analytic philosophy that philosophizing can be a presuppositionless activity, objectively persued independent of the personal (and, perhaps, arbitrary) commitments of the philosopher. This issue, critical as it is to all forms of philosophy, is surely a worthy one for a series such as ours.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: We are on the verge of a true crisis of civilisation : ecological disruption, chronic insatisfaction of the basic needs of a large part of humanity and degrading physical and mental health in industrialised countries. We must address the crisis's main cause : the pursuit of a development approach focused on economic growth and based on intensive, inefficient use of natural resources. This book is a call for humanity to look itself in the mirror, question its identity as a species and re-examine its place in this world.

Book Daily Reflections on Divine Mercy

Download or read book Daily Reflections on Divine Mercy written by John Paul Thomas and published by My Catholic Life!. This book was released on 2016-03-17 with total page 339 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "Daily Reflections on Divine Mercy" was written to provide an awakening to the abundant Mercy of God. It offers daily reflections and prayers to help deepen the day-to-day faith life of every Catholic so that you can understand the abundance of Mercy poured forth from the Heart of our Savior as it is revealed in the writings of Saint Maria Faustina Kowalska. "Divine Mercy in My Soul: Diary of Saint Maria Faustina Kowalska" is soon to become a classic spiritual book that everyone is encouraged to read in their lifetime. However, many find this invitation intimidating, not just because of the width of her book, but because of the depth of its message on The Divine Mercy in each of Saint Faustina’s notebook entries. This book, "Daily Reflections on Divine Mercy," was written with the hope of guiding you through Saint Faustina’s Diary and her six notebooks of reflections. It can be used on its own to help you pause and reflect on the beauty of Jesus’ messages to her, or as a companion book, as you simultaneously read Saint Faustina’s Diary. "Daily Reflections on Divine Mercy" offers 365 daily teachings, reflections and prayers based upon the pages of Saint Faustina’s Diary. The structured way to use this daily reflection book is to do just that…reflect upon one page each day. However, some may feel called to skip around a bit, read a few reflections at a time, or return to a particular reflection through which God spoke to you. Therefore, though this book was written with the intent of providing one reflection for each day of the year, the best way to use it is any way you feel called and the way that benefits your relationship with God the most. The first paragraph for each day offers this author’s insights to the words and teachings of Saint Faustina. The section of her Diary used for the day’s teaching is marked so that the reader can also read her Diary first hand so as to see the primary source that the author of this book took inspiration from for that day’s reflection. Though the primary text of the Diary is never quoted, nor are the reflections of this book exact representations of the Diary, they do provide the foundational basis for the spiritual message shared in each reflection. The second paragraph for each day offers a short reflection put more as a question to the reader. It offers the same insight in a different format so as to enter more deeply into the message of the day. Finally, each daily reflection ends with a prayer focused upon the message and reflection for that day. The reader is encouraged to pray this prayer several times. Ideally, it is prayed first thing in the morning, again during the day, and again at night as an examination on how well the daily message was received. As you seek to survive the world we live in, allow these pages to be a font of Mercy for you from God. Allow God’s Divine Mercy to penetrate your heart so that you will know the abundance of His love and be more prepared to share that love with others.
