Book Reduction of Nonlinear Control Systems

Download or read book Reduction of Nonlinear Control Systems written by V.I. Elkin and published by Springer. This book was released on 2013-01-11 with total page 248 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Advances in science and technology necessitate the use of increasingly-complicated dynamic control processes. Undoubtedly, sophisticated mathematical models are also concurrently elaborated for these processes. In particular, linear dynamic control systems iJ = Ay + Bu, y E M C ]Rn, U E ]RT, (1) where A and B are constants, are often abandoned in favor of nonlinear dynamic control systems (2) which, in addition, contain a large number of equations. The solution of problems for multidimensional nonlinear control systems en counters serious difficulties, which are both mathematical and technical in nature. Therefore it is imperative to develop methods of reduction of nonlinear systems to a simpler form, for example, decomposition into systems of lesser dimension. Approaches to reduction are diverse, in particular, techniques based on approxi mation methods. In this monograph, we elaborate the most natural and obvious (in our opinion) approach, which is essentially inherent in any theory of math ematical entities, for instance, in the theory of linear spaces, theory of groups, etc. Reduction in our interpretation is based on assigning to the initial object an isomorphic object, a quotient object, and a subobject. In the theory of linear spaces, for instance, reduction consists in reducing to an isomorphic linear space, quotient space, and subspace. Strictly speaking, the exposition of any mathemat ical theory essentially begins with the introduction of these reduced objects and determination of their basic properties in relation to the initial object.

Book excerpt: The purpose of this book is to present a self-contained description of the fundamentals of the theory of nonlinear control systems, with special emphasis on the differential geometric approach. The book is intended as a graduate text as well as a reference to scientists and engineers involved in the analysis and design of feedback systems. The first version of this book was written in 1983, while I was teaching at the Department of Systems Science and Mathematics at Washington University in St. Louis. This new edition integrates my subsequent teaching experience gained at the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign in 1987, at the Carl Cranz Gesellschaft in Oberpfaffenhofen in 1987, at the University of California in Berkeley in 1988. In addition to a major rearrangement of the last two Chapters of the first version, this new edition incorporates two additional Chapters at a more elementary level and an exposition of some relevant research findings which have occurred since 1985. In the past few years differential geometry has proved to be an effective means of analysis and design of nonlinear control systems as it was in the past for the Laplace transform, complex variable theory and linear algebra in relation to linear systems. Synthesis problems of longstanding interest like disturbance decoupling, noninteracting control, output regulation, and the shaping of the input-output response, can be dealt with relative ease, on the basis of mathematical concepts that can be easily acquired by a control scientist.

Book Nonlinear Model Reduction by Moment Matching

Download or read book Nonlinear Model Reduction by Moment Matching written by Giordano Scarciotti and published by . This book was released on 2017 with total page 185 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Mathematical models are at the core of modern science and technology. An accurate description of behaviors, systems and processes often requires the use of complex models which are difficult to analyze and control. To facilitate analysis of and design for complex systems, model reduction theory and tools allow determining "simpler" models which preserve some of the features of the underlying complex description. A large variety of techniques, which can be distinguished depending on the features which are preserved in the reduction process, has been proposed to achieve this goal. One such a method is the moment matching approach. This monograph focuses on the problem of model reduction by moment matching for nonlinear systems. The central idea of the method is the preservation, for a prescribed class of inputs and under some technical assumptions, of the steady-state output response of the system to be reduced. We present the moment matching approach from this vantage point, covering the problems of model reduction for nonlinear systems, nonlinear time-delay systems, data-driven model reduction for nonlinear systems and model reduction for "discontinuous" input signals. Throughout the monograph linear systems, with their simple structure and strong properties, are used as a paradigm to facilitate understanding of the theory and provide foundation of the terminology and notation. The text is enriched by several numerical examples, physically motivated examples and with connections to well-established notions and tools, such as the phasor transform.

Book Nonlinear Control Systems Design 1989

Download or read book Nonlinear Control Systems Design 1989 written by A. Isidori and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2014-05-23 with total page 429 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In the last two decades, the development of specific methodologies for the control of systems described by nonlinear mathematical models has attracted an ever increasing interest. New breakthroughs have occurred which have aided the design of nonlinear control systems. However there are still limitations which must be understood, some of which were addressed at the IFAC Symposium in Capri. The emphasis was on the methodological developments, although a number of the papers were concerned with the presentation of applications of nonlinear design philosophies to actual control problems in chemical, electrical and mechanical engineering.

This book was released on 2007-10-23 with total page 444 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The underlying theory on which much modern robust and nonlinear control is based can be difficult to grasp. This volume is a collection of lecture notes presented by experts in advanced control engineering. The book is designed to provide a better grounding in the theory underlying several important areas of control. It is hoped the book will help the reader to apply otherwise abstruse ideas of nonlinear control in a variety of real systems.

Book Analysis and Synthesis of Nonlinear Control Systems

Download or read book Analysis and Synthesis of Nonlinear Control Systems written by Miguel Bernal and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2022-02-05 with total page 349 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book presents a modern perspective on the modelling, analysis, and synthesis ideas behind convex-optimisation-based control of nonlinear systems: it embeds them in models with convex structures. Analysis and Synthesis of Nonlinear Control Systems begins with an introduction to the topic and a discussion of the problems to be solved. It then explores modelling via convex structures, including quasi-linear parameter-varying, Takagi–Sugeno models, and linear fractional transformation structures. The authors cover stability analysis, addressing Lyapunov functions and the stability of polynomial models, as well as the performance and robustness of the models. With detailed examples, simulations, and programming code, this book will be useful to instructors, researchers, and graduate students interested in nonlinear control systems.
