This book was released on 2023-09-12 with total page 359 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book includes papers presented at the 14th International Conference “Economies of the Balkan and Eastern European Countries” (EBEEC), held in Florence, Italy, in May 2022. It sheds new light on the micro- and macroeconomic developments in the Eastern European and Balkan countries, taking into account also the broader regional and global factors influencing these developments. In particular, it includes the latest theoretical and empirical research and policy insights from Central and Southeastern Europe and presents new ideas on how to resolve economic problems, also generated by the pandemic, in the Balkan and Eastern European economies in a pan-European context. By examining how the decisions and the performance of economic, social, and political actors in the area are intertwined with wider events, also at a global level, the papers highlight the dynamic development in Eastern Europe and the Balkans region. Further, the book demonstrates how the area is evolving within the framework of European economic integration and the global effervescent economy.

Download or read book Decent Flexibility written by Dr Fred C. A. van Haasteren and published by Kluwer Law International B.V.. This book was released on 2017-07-30 with total page 435 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Within the context of social law, temporary agency work has always been subject of debate. The pursuit of more flexible forms of labour is at odds with maintaining decent labour relations. For that reason, ever since it was established, the UN organisation for labour issues, ILO, has focused on private work placement. In its early years it tended to prohibit or severely restrict private work placement, but gradually it came to acknowledge that, for instance, temporary agency work had positive aspects, and that a total ban was pointless. In 1997, this culminated in ILO convention 181, which was widely supported. This did not end the debate on non-standards forms of paid work. Which forms of work can be considered decent? How do they relate to human rights? What are the effects of globalisation? In the European context, too, (cross-border) temporary agency work has attracted extensive attention. Lastly, the Netherlands has its own, unique form of public-private regulation. The guiding principle in this book is whether Convention 181 still has value in this day and age. What are the developments in temporary agency work in the social domain? How do they relate to the wide range of flexible work forms that are increasingly catching up with temporary agency work? Decent flexibility is the challenge. Dr Fred van Haasteren (1949) started his career as a scientific associate at the Society and Enterprise Foundation (SMO). From 1978 onward, he worked in the Dutch temporary agency sector. In 1982 he became a board member of Randstad Nederland; in 1991 he became Vice-President of Randstad Holding. Among other things, he was also President of the platform of European temporary agency employers and of the global temporary agency employer umbrella organisation CIETT. He is still a board member of the Dutch Labour Standards Foundation (SNA) and an independent member of the NCP OECD. The social policy pursued by temporary employment agencies has always been at the centre of his activities.

Book Reacting to Life s Situations

Download or read book Reacting to Life s Situations written by Marlin Mull and published by Wipf and Stock Publishers. This book was released on 2022-08-11 with total page 100 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Reacting to life situations cannot be avoided. However, the way we react can either bring hope or despair. The choice remains with us. Three main options exist: (1) We can attempt to be noncommittal and try to avoid making a decision, though that thought process itself is reacting; (2) we can react unwisely, and the problem does not get better, only worse; or (3) we can react positively based on discerning God's will. This third reaction is best, and this book's aim, using Bible personalities as examples and some personal illustrations from the author's experiences, is to encourage the reader to react to life's problems by discerning God's will as best they can. Make your reaction to life situations a judgment based on prayer and principles discovered in the Bible, and thus find hope. Be encouraged!

Book Metaphorical Landscapes and the Theology of the Book of Job

Download or read book Metaphorical Landscapes and the Theology of the Book of Job written by Johan de Joode and published by BRILL. This book was released on 2018-10-22 with total page 290 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Metaphorical Landscapes and the Theology of the Book of Job demonstrates how spatial metaphors play a crucial role in the theology of the book of Job. Themes as pivotal as trauma, ill-being, retribution, and divine character are conceptualized in terms of space; its imagery is thus dependent on spatial configurations, such as boundaries, distance, direction, containment, and contact. Not only are spatial metaphors ubiquitous in the book of Job—possibly the most frequent conceptual metaphors in the book—they are essential to its theological reasoning. Job’s spatial metaphors form a metaphorical landscape in which God’s character and his creation are challenged in unprecedented ways. In the theophany, God reacts to that landscape. This book introduces a pragmatic synthesis of both conceptual metaphor theory and spatial semantics and it demonstrates their exegetical and hermeneutic potential.
