Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Available online: https://pub.norden.org/temanord2024-513/ A modern society needs access to critical raw materials (CRM) that are necessary for maintaining and developing its industries, infrastructure and welfare system. Europe has been facing increasing challenges in meeting its need for these materials, which are defined by their high economic importance and significant supply risk. The implementation of the Critical Raw Materials Act (CRMA) of EU aims to reduce this vulnerability by establishing a framework to ensure the Union's access to a secure and sustainable supply of critical raw materials. One important measure highlighted by this regulation is to increase CRM recycling. This report describes potential measures and instruments that may be relevant for Nordic countries and territories as tools for hitting the CRM recycling targets that CRMA introduces.
Download or read book Power Cable Technology written by Sushil Kumar Ganguli and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2018-09-03 with total page 467 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Power Cable Technology provides a precise understanding of the design, manufacture, installation, and testing of a range of electric power cables—from low-voltage, 1,000/1,100V cables to extra-high-voltage, 400kV cables—with reference to future trends in the industry. The authors’ mantra is: know your cable. Thus, the book begins with a comprehensive overview of power cable design and manufacturing through the ages, and then: Describes the characteristics of the materials currently used in the production of various power cables Explains how to calculate the die orifice for drawing wires, how tolerance in manufacturing affects material weight and consumption, and how and why lubricants are used Addresses the formation, stranding, and insulation of the electrical conductors, as well as the sheathing, armouring, and protective covering of the power cables Delivers an in-depth discussion of quality systems, quality control, and performance testing Covers the many nuances of cable installation, including laying, jointing, and terminating Throughout, the authors emphasise consonance between design theory and practical application to ensure production of a quality power cable at a reasonable cost. They also underscore the importance of careful handling, making Power Cable Technology a must read for power cable engineers and technicians alike.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Electrical (Generator and Electrical Plant), Volume 4 is a five-chapter text that covers the principles, design, manufacture, characteristics, and maintenance of generators and electrical plant equipment. Chapter 1 deals with the design, construction, and operational aspects of large turbo-generators of up to 500 MW rating. Chapter 2 summarizes the practices in respect of main switchgear and ancillary equipment for generating stations. Chapter 3 looks into the main parameters of the electrical auxiliary system design and the details of the switchgear, motors, and associated equipment. Chapter 4 describes the construction and assembly, design, operation, and maintenance of transformers. This chapter also covers the development of power cables for transformers, installation, and commissioning tests. Chapter 5 examines the role of protection in system design and the principles and operation of automatic voltage regulators. This book is of great value to workers and students who are interested in the design and operation of electrical plant equipment.
Download or read book Guide to Financial Management written by John Tennent and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2008-06-01 with total page 338 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: With organizations driven to deliver on performance targets, such as shareholder value or level of service, managers are expected to make decisions fully understanding their financial consequences. Few nonfinancial specialists are prepared for the responsibilities of dealing with management reports, budgets, and capital proposals. Many find themselves confused by jargon and embarrassed by their lack of understanding. Guide to Financial Management is a practical resource for understanding and managing these financial responsibilities. It is structured by task, such as “how to assemble a budget” or “how to construct a proposal to invest in new equipment.” John Tennent—who has worked with such major companies as Kraft, Thomson, British Airways, Unilever, and Universal Music—helps the reader understand financial jargon, financial statements, performance measures, budgeting, costing, pricing, decision making, and investment appraisals—all of which are key to being a successful manager.
