Book excerpt: A profound exploration of how to hold on to hope when our unchanging faith collides with a changing culture, from two respected Christian storytellers and thought leaders. “Offers neither spin control nor image maintenance for the evangelical tribe, but genuine hope.”—Russell Moore, president of ERLC As the pressures of health warnings, economic turmoil, and partisan politics continue to rise, the influence of gospel-focused Christians seems to be waning. In the public square and popular opinion, we are losing our voice right when it’s needed most for Christ’s glory and the common good. But there’s another story unfolding too—if you know where to look. In Gospelbound, Collin Hansen and Sarah Eekhoff Zylstra counter these growing fears with a robust message of resolute hope for anyone hungry for good news. Join them in exploring profound stories of Christians who are quietly changing the world in the name of Jesus—from the wild world of digital media to the stories of ancient saints and unsung contemporary activists on the frontiers of justice and mercy. Discover how, in these dark times, the light of Jesus shines even brighter. You haven’t heard the whole story. And that’s good news.

Book The Voice from Where No Body Could Be Seen

Download or read book The Voice from Where No Body Could Be Seen written by Prophet Mark and published by Christian Faith Publishing, Inc.. This book was released on 2023-10-05 with total page 503 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is a chronological relating of the raising up of a prophet of God. Many of us have read the Holy Bible and learned of spiritual work done by various prophets of God throughout the history of man. We have read and learned that God raises up his prophets to know his Voice. This book relates how God has done that in these days with his prophet. Prophet Mark is not unlike other people. He endures the same physical and emotional things that others may encounter in their lives. The only difference is that Prophet Mark has been hearing from a Voice from where No Body could be seen. And has developed the faith that comes from hearing. God views this form of hearing from him as a bother to man's ability to enjoy life of their own choosing. And does not want to bother his children with this. However, God does have an occasional promise keeping need to speak with his children. And makes use of the prophets who he has raised up to faithfully know and heed his Voice to speak through. God has not changed. God is still with us.

Book Raising World Changers in a Changing World

Download or read book Raising World Changers in a Changing World written by Kristen Welch and published by Baker Books. This book was released on 2018-05-01 with total page 180 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Almost any parent you asked would tell you that they want their children to be happy, successful adults. But many of us forget (or never knew to begin with) that lasting personal joy is not necessarily found the way the world says it is--through reaching a certain socioeconomic status, having a certain job, buying a certain house, or having a certain amount in one's bank account. In fact, says Kristen Welch, popular blogger and author of Raising Grateful Kids in an Entitled World, personal satisfaction comes not from grabbing onto things but from holding them with an open hand and, very often, giving them away. In this inspiring book, Welch shows parents how to discover for themselves and instill in their kids the profound joy that comes from sharing what we have been given--our time, our talents, and even what's in our wallets--with those who have less. Through powerful personal stories as well as stories from Scripture, Welch offers a tantalizing alternative to status quo parenting that has the power to impact not only our own families but the entire world. At the end of each chapter, one of the author's kids offers their perspective on what it's like to be raised as a world changer.

Book A Prophet Like Moses

  • Author : Jeffrey Stackert
  • Publisher : Oxford University Press, USA
  • Release : 2014
  • ISBN : 0199336458
  • Pages : 255 pages

Download or read book A Prophet Like Moses written by Jeffrey Stackert and published by Oxford University Press, USA. This book was released on 2014 with total page 255 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Jeffrey Stackert addresses two of the oldest and most persistent problems in biblical studies: the relationship between prophecy and law in the Hebrew Bible and the utility of the Documentary Hypothesis for understanding Israelite religion. These topics have in many ways dominated pentateuchal studies and the investigation of Israelite religion since the nineteenth century, culminating in Julius Wellhausen's influential Prolegomena to the History of Ancient Israel. Setting his inquiry against this backdrop while drawing on and extending recent developments in pentateuchal theory, Stackert tackles the subject through an investigation of the different presentations of Mosaic prophecy in the four Torah sources. His book shows that these texts contain a rich and longstanding debate over prophecy, its relation to law, and its place in Israelite religion. With this argument, A Prophet Like Moses demonstrates a new role for the Documentary Hypothesis in discussions of Israelite religion. It also provides an opportunity for critical reflection on the history of the field of biblical studies. Stackert concludes with an argument for the importance of situating biblical studies and the study of ancient Israelite religion within the larger field of religious studies rather than treating them solely or even primarily as theological disciplines.

Book excerpt: For better or worse, richer or poorer, in sickness and in health I'm married to the notion that a personal relationship with God as essential to my life. I can't be alone in this. There must be others with this still small voice' running through there heads demanding relationship with God. So, in an effort to find them, provoke them to seek greater depth in their own spirituality and to break through the notion that you have to be a saint to communicate with the Almighty, I decided to share this experience using a character out of scripture as a 'straw man' for my thoughts; Jonah the Prophet to Nineveh. I ve spent the last eleven years arguing, cajoling, praising and bargaining with God as Jonah. "You don't really talk with God, do you?", you might ask with an eye toward my sanity. "Oh, I talk with God." I'd answer. "In fact, I sometimes yell at him and sometimes I cry when His touch becomes too ℜ but I'm certainly no saint." That's the point. You don't have to be a saint to experience this personal relationship with God through Christ and the Holy Spirit. In persecution or success, in feast or famine, in good times or bad, in spiritual growth or decadent deterioration, in Jonahs time or ours, this one-on-one relationship is our constant. And praise is always our worship. For those who have this, there is no wavering or fear. I must warn you that sometimes my Jonah is belligerent, ungrateful and unwilling- much like me. But through it all, God loved Jonah. Good to know. For God loves you uniquely. He sent His son to save you, personally. And the Holy Spirit nudges you as a precious child of God.
