Book Quicklet on True Blood Season One

Download or read book Quicklet on True Blood Season One written by Tina Wheeler and published by Hyperink Inc. This book was released on 2012-04-04 with total page 81 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: ABOUT THE BOOK True Blood is an HBO television series created by Alan Ball and based on Charlaine Harris Southern Vampire Mysteries. It is based in the fictional town of Bon Temps, Louisiana, and is just one in a long line of shows that fuel todays craze for all things bloodthirsty on TV. Though a bit gorier and perverse than other shows of its kind, the series works wonderfully for television: fans somehow seem to connect with monsters, shapeshifters and mind readers, relishing the abnormality. The show does a wonderful job of pulling together a unique combination of fantasy, mystery, tragedy, humor, and erotica to become a genre all its own. The first season of True Blood premiered September 7, 2008. Twelve episodes aired, based mostly on the first of Harris books, Dead Until Dark. MEET THE AUTHOR Joshua Vizer is an experienced writer and a member of the Hyperink Team, which works hard to bring you high-quality, engaging, fun content. Happy reading! EXCERPT FROM THE BOOK The series begins with an introduction to Sookie Stackhouse (Anna Paquin), a small-town waitress who has telepathic abilities. Sookies coworkers include Lafayette Reynolds (Nelsan Ellis), the flamboyant short order cook who sidelines as a hustler and drug dealer. Arlene Fowler (Carrie Preston), three time divorcee with two children, also waitresses at Merlottes. Sookies best friend Tara Thornton (Rutina Wesley) rounds out the staff as bartender. Book Quicklet on True Blood Season 4 TV Show Episode Guide

Download or read book Quicklet on True Blood Season 4 TV Show Episode Guide written by Nicki Bixter and published by Hyperink Inc. This book was released on 2012-07-30 with total page 81 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: ABOUT THE BOOK It is the season of the witch in Bon Temps. The characters of True Blood have dealt with anti-vampire fanatics, a sexed-crazed maenad, werewolves, and have even seen a bit of faerie power. What is left on our horror-genre list of supernatural beings? Witches. Next up, Godzilla? Get the play-by-play of this eventful season. MEET THE AUTHOR Nicki Bixler is an experienced writer and a member of the Hyperink Team, which works hard to bring you high-quality, engaging, fun content. Happy reading! EXCERPT FROM THE BOOK One running theme seen in various episodes of Season 4 is the process of trying to save face in the media. Nan Flanagan, in charge of PR for the AVL, must fix the mess that vampire Russell Edgington caused when he obliterated a human on live television. Nan and Bill Compton constantly say Russell's name when addressing the media so that the public will associate the incident with him only and believe it to be an isolated event. Additionally, the AVL's purpose is to gain equal rights for vampires, and they know that they have to be careful in the media during a time when many in the public are still anti-vampire. Lastly, civil rights is a theme that was introduced at the inception of True Blood and has been streaming through ever since. When the vampires revealed themselves during The Great Awakening it is clear the parallel between their cause and gay rights is stressed when the show uses the phrase "out of the coffin." The plight of the American Vampire League, looking for a constitutional amendment supporting the rights of vampires, also suggests a metaphor for any minority group who has fought for equal rights. Comically the parallel is shown in Season 2 when the Fellowship of the Sun, a conservative religious group takes direct aim at vampires. Book Quicklet on True Blood Season 3 CliffsNotes like Book Summary

Download or read book Quicklet on True Blood Season 3 CliffsNotes like Book Summary written by Deena Shanker and published by Hyperink Inc. This book was released on 2012-03-02 with total page 55 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Quicklets: Your Reading Sidekick! This Hyperink Quicklet includes an overall summary, chapter commentary, key characters, literary themes, fun trivia, and recommended related readings. ABOUT THE BOOK “I’m sorry you fell in love with a serial killer, all right, but honestly, who here hasn’t?” – Arlene to Tara True Blood, the popular HBO show about vampires, werewolves, and other creatures of the supernatural variety, has had four successful seasons thus far. Creator Alan Ball’s television series is based on author Charlaine Harris’ books The Southern Vampire Stories, also known as The Sookie Stackhouse Novels. Known as much for its raunchy sex scenes and relationship drama as its supernatural elements, the story unfolds in the fictional small town of Bon Temps, Louisiana, with each season revealing another layer in this increasingly complex fictional world. True Blood has been popular since its debut in September 2008. Viewers loved former child star Anna Paquin as the sweet, sexy, and outspoken Southern waitress, Sookie Stackhouse, and the pulsing sexual tension between her and Bill Compton, Bon Temp’s brooding vampire. The show was immediately noticed for its strong sexual overtones, as well as its explicit (almost pornographic, according to some) erotic scenes. While vampires have always been associated with carnal pleasures, those of True Blood are more than just run-of-the-mill Casanovas: they’re bona fide sex gods. MEET THE AUTHOR Deena Shanker is a San Francisco newbie, having just moved out here from New York City. She is a recovering lawyer excited to get back to doing work she loves, like writing. She enjoys taking advantage of California's great outdoors with her dog, Barley, reading fiction, and eating cheese. EXCERPT FROM THE BOOK Sam finds his birth family: the embodiment of all white trash stereotypes, including a brother, Tommy, he hadn’t known existed. It turns out the ignorance is mutual, and Tommy didn’t know about Sam either. Sam learns his mother offered him for adoption, hoping that he wouldn’t be a “shifter” and could grow up with a normal family and live an ordinary life – which obviously didn’t work out very well. Tommy, shifting into a pit bull, and Sam, as a more friendly-looking dog, go for a run together in a unique type of family bonding. Back in Bon Temps, Lafayette realizes inviting Tara’s mother was not his best idea, and takes her to a mental institution to meet his bigoted, schizophrenic mother. (It is at this point that the viewer is left to wonder if there is a single decent parent on the show.) Whether Tara is comforted by the knowledge that “darkness” is a family heirloom is unclear, but at least Lafayette has made a handsome new friend: his mother’s male nurse, Jesus. That night at Merlotte’s, Tara gets angry at and then flirty with a mysterious vampire customer, Franklin Mott... Buy a copy to keep reading!

This book was released on 2015-01-08 with total page 247 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A man alone in a bedsit with a young woman friend, who suddenly unleashes a deadly onslaught, without warning or reason. The stabs don't hurt. They seem more like punches. Then he realises that the red liquid pumping out of his body and on to the floor is his blood. He doesn't realise, as he drifts into unconsciousness before death supervenes, that he'll never wake up again... In March 2013, Joanne Dennehy stabbed three Peterborough men to death within the space of a few days. One was her landlord, Kevin Lee. Dennehy and her sidekick, Gary Stretch, put the body into a wheelie bin and dumped his corpse in a ditch close to White Post Road in the Parish of Newborough. Lukasz Slaboszewski and John Chapman were stabbed to death and disposed of in a farmland ditch several miles away. She then attempted to murder two other men. By the grace of God they survived. Jo Dennehy is unique, for she now ranks alongside Myra Hindley and Rosemary West as one of the most heinous female serial killers in British criminal history. Only her death will bring about her release from prison. This book, by a leading criminologist and expert on serial killers, has been written with the full cooperation of the police involved in the case, and many of those who knew Joanne Dennehy and her victims.

Book A Season in Hell and the Illuminations

Download or read book A Season in Hell and the Illuminations written by Arthur Rimbaud and published by Galaxy Books. This book was released on 1974 with total page 196 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Although he abandoned poetry before he was twenty-one years old, and wrote for only five or six years in all, Arthur Rimbaud has had an extraordinary influence on modern poetry. His work helped inspire poetic Symbolism, Dadaism, and Surrealism. Rimbaud dreamed of re-creating life through his words. Not content merely to describe the world, he longed to reorder it through his revolutionary poetry. He rebelled against all forms of hypocrisy, as well as against conventional concepts of love, morality, religion, and art. He even dreamed of liberating women from "endless servitude." Written a century ago, A Season in Hell and The Illuminations read like the works of an avant-garde poet of today. In her Introduction dealing with Rimbaud's life and work, Enid Rhodes Peschel discusses his concept of the voyant, the poet-visionary he dreamed of becoming through a "reasoned deranging of all his senses." A Season in Hell, which combines autobiography with self-appraisal, vision and hallucination, reflects Rimbaud's tortures in trying to be a voyant. The forty-two poems of The Illuminations, kaleidoscopic evocations of a universe in continual evolution, are further evidence of his attempts to reach this transcendent state. Enid Rhodes Peschel has succeeded in not only translating these works but in recreating them. Eye, ear, mind, and heart have all been engaged in her effort to capture the tone and rhythm of Rimbaud's language as well as the quality of his thought. Book jacket.
