Download or read book Explanations in Organizations written by Claude Louche and published by Taylor & Francis. This book was released on 1997 with total page 132 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Under the influence of cognitivism, explanations in everyday life constitute a major research theme in social psychology today. Studies are divided into two large domains: those of "locus of control" and causal attribution approaches. Work and organizational psychologists have not hesitated to take an interest in this research. They have made use of it to enrich their own investigations: thus the classical models of organizational psychology such as leadership and motivation have given way to explanation processes. But the study of these processes has also contributed to shedding light on the actions of practitioners. Explanations are in fact at the heart of many practices of work and organizational social psychology. They play a part in situations of recruitment, assessment, organizational consultation, and so on. This special issue will aim to present a synthesis of the large body of research devoted to "explanations in organizations".
Download or read book The Psychology of Ethical Leadership in Organisations written by Catarina Morais and published by Springer. This book was released on 2018-11-03 with total page 88 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Understanding the effects of and psychology behind ethical and unethical leadership decisions can have a lasting and far reaching effect on any working environment. This book utilizes social identity theory and applied research to discuss the implications and applications of ethical and unethical leadership to work groups and organisations. The authors argue that improving ethicality results in healthier and more productive relationships between leaders and employees, and between employees and the organisation, which can impact positively on the success of the organisation as a whole. The book explores the benefits of ethical leadership and how to deal with unethical leaders, as well as how and why teams react to different types of leadership. The concluding chapter suggests several strategies for interventions that organisations can adopt to improve their ethical leadership frameworks. The book is essential reading for academics and professionals involved in workplace psychology and ethics as well as anyone interested in learning about the effects of ethics on leadership.

Download or read book Corporate Innovation Strategies written by Nacer Gasmi and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2021-03-03 with total page 224 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Corporate social responsibility (CSR) is simply the maximization of a companys value over time, undertaken because, in the long run, social and environmental problems ultimately become financial problems. The justification for CSR is therefore associated with representing the nature and role of the company, as well as its purpose. Companies therefore regard CSR as a strategic investment that is part of a proactive, resilient, inclusive approach, based on the creation of shared value. This approach is capable of reducing negative societal impacts of their activities, or inducing positive impacts if they sustain a hybrid culture, all the while improving their competitive advantage. This book presents a theoretical development that analyzes the challenges of CSR strategies based on the creation of shared value. Two case studies are presented, analyzing the different forms of social innovation strategies capable of inducing this shared value creation.

Download or read book The Oxford Handbook of Personnel Assessment and Selection written by Neal Schmitt and published by Oxford University Press. This book was released on 2013-12-15 with total page 992 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Employee selection has long stood at the practical forefront of industrial/organizational psychology. Today's social, business, and economic climates require ongoing adaptations by those who select organizations' personnel, and research on the topic helps gauge the impact of these adaptations and their implications for human performance and potential. The Oxford Handbook of Personnel Assessment and Selection codifies the wealth of new research surrounding employee selection (web-based assessments, social networking, globalization of organizations), situating them alongside more traditional practices to establish the best and most relevant research for both professionals and academics. Comprising chapters from authors in both the private sector and academia, this volume is organized into seven parts: (1) historical and social context of the field of assessment and selection; (2) research strategies; (3) individual difference constructs that underlie effective performance; (4) measures of predictor constructs; (5) employee performance and outcome assessment; (6) societal and organizational constraints on selection practice; and (7) implementation and sustainability of selection systems. While providing a comprehensive review of current research and practice, the purpose of this handbook is to provide an up-to-date profile of each of the areas addressed and highlight current questions that deserve additional attention from researchers and practitioners. This compendium is essential reading for industrial/organizational psychologists and human resource managers.

Download or read book Psychologie sociale des organisations written by Claude Louche and published by . This book was released on 2019-06-04 with total page 288 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Download or read book Educational Innovation in Economics and Business II written by Dirk T. Tempelaar and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 330 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume consists of the revised versions I of a selection of papers of the second EDINEB conference, held in Uppsala from 17-19 August 1995. As with the fIrst edition, the conference and these proceedings are rooted in the participant's involvement with 'EDucational INnovation in Economics and Business'. The thematic focus is quality audit, quality assessment and quality improvement, all of them collected in the theme 'In Search of Quality'. For the fIrst EDINEB conference, which took place in Maastricht, December 1993, 'Problem-Based Learning' was chosen as leading theme. The introduction of problem-based learning in the curriculum of any faculty is to be regarded as a major innovation in the educational system. In contrast, the dedication to the search of quality in education resulted in a large variety of case studies and theoretical contributions on educational innovations aiming at increasing the quality of teaching and learning. This contrast between the one major step and the many small steps has been the decisive factor for the editors to compose these proceedings as a kind of allegory of Robert M. Pirsig's famous novel 'Zen and the art of Motorcycle Maintenance, an Inquiry into Values' (ZAMM). Of course, on top of the very obvious reason that the conference had been saddled with a theme that is identical to the title that many critics (probably those who aren't so fond of motorcycling) used to rename ZAMM.
