Book excerpt: Excerpt from Galaxy of Coming Events: Meaning and Outcome of This European War; Terminating in a World Confederation According to Prophecy, the Book of Revelation as I See It We have written this book under a deep sense of the seriousness, the awful consequences of changing anything in the Book of Revela tion, and have waited on God continually for guidance in every word written that we may change nothing; but only to cause the reader to see What God has said therein, in connection with other scriptures on the same subject, thus showing an agreement, and not a difference. We believe God has directed both mind and pen as we have been writing, and We have writ ten this book, hoping to correct many incorrect things that have been said and written concern ing the Book of Revelation. For more than forty years, while preaching the gospel, we have read and rejected much that has been written on the Book of Revela tion, because it did not agree with the Book itself. Book The Prophecy That Is Shaping History

Download or read book The Prophecy That Is Shaping History written by Jon Mark Ruthven and published by Xulon Press. This book was released on 2003 with total page 186 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Millions of Jews, Christians, and Muslims believe that a 2,500-year-old prophecy is about to be fulfilled: a global, apocalyptic jihad of many nations against the tiny state of Israel, whose recent re-emergence in its traditional land has sparked unrelenting rage and attack. Repeated resolutions passed in the United Nations reflect world-wide and nearly unanimous hostility against the so-called Zionist entityeven to the point of denying its right to exist. Most news media and political analysts seem unaware of the ancient prophecy that not only predicts this apocalyptic war, but also, amazingly, how this prophecy by Ezekiel (chapters 3644) provides the scenario for numerous best-selling books in both the English-speaking and Muslim worlds! These best sellers not only describe this great conflagration, but actually also motivate their readers to prepare for it! The Prophecy That Is Shaping History represents a major advance in research and scholarship in examining the historical and contemporary impact of Ezekielʼs prophecy on world events. This academic monograph also offers a wealth of new evidence in tracing the identities, origins, and ultimate destinies of the key nations of Ezekielʼs prophecy who are seen to participate in what millions believe will be the most horrific battle the world will ever witness.

Book Prophecy and the Eastern Question

Download or read book Prophecy and the Eastern Question written by Robert Roberts and published by Forgotten Books. This book was released on 2016-10-14 with total page 66 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Prophecy and the Eastern Question: Being an Exhibition of the Light Shed by the Scriptures of Truth on the Matters Involved in the Crisis That Has Arrived in Eastern Affairs That in this channel, the events of the future have been foreshown is a demonstrable and important fact. The evidence is too extensive even to look at here. It will transpire in great measure in the course of the following pages. Meanwhile, it may not be without advantage to quote one or two express statements on the point: Surely the Lord God will do nothing, but He revealeth His secret to His servants the prophets.-(amos iii. There is a God in heaven that revealeth secrets and maketh known to the king Nebuchadnez'zar what shall Come to pass in the latter days. - (dan. Ii. The revelation of Jesus Christ which God gave unto him to shew unto His servants things which must shortly come to pass, and He sent and signified it by His angel unto His servant John. - (rev. I. If these statements are true, we ought to be able to find recognizable and measurable light in the Scriptures on the leading events of history, and, therefore, on such a gigantic affair as the Eastern Question, which so radically affects and imperils great national interests, and involves the destiny of the land of Jehovah itself - now a pachalic of the threatened empire of Turkey. But it may be objected that the affairs in question are perfectly human in their character. It may be said their origin can be so exactly traced to natural causes as to exclude the possible operation of occult in uences. The Turks, it may be said, being a brutal race, have for centuries brutally treated the races that have been brought under their subjection by conquest, and that as a result, their empire is weak; and that Russia, by the operation of a perfectly natural ambition, desires possession of a desirable territory so evidently destined to fall out of Turkish hands by and bye that, therefore, it is absurd to seek for a divine view of the case, or to regard the consequent events as forming any part of a divine programme. Book Prophecy and Its Cultic Dimensions

Download or read book Prophecy and Its Cultic Dimensions written by Lena-Sofia Tiemeyer and published by Vandenhoeck & Ruprecht. This book was released on 2019-01-21 with total page 192 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This collection of eight essays deals with a wide range of historical, literary, and methodological issues. First, what were the links between the cultic and the prophetic personnel? Did prophets have ritual/cultic functions in temples? Did prophetic actions and/or utterances play a role in the performance of the cult? What were the ritual aspects of divinations? Second, how do literary texts describe the interaction between prophecy and cult? Third, how can various theories (e.g. religious theory, performance theory) enable us to reach a better understanding of the interplay between divination and cultic ritual in ancient Israel and the wider ancient Near East? Marian Broida explores the ritual elements as described in the biblical accounts of intercession. Lester Grabbe revisits the important question of whether cultic prophecy existed in the Jerusalem temple in ancient Israel. Anja Klein maintains that while Psalms 81 and 95 may indirectly testify to a form of cultic prophecy, they do not themselves constitute cultic prophecy. Jonathan Stökl discusses the notion of "triggering" prophecy and suggests that enquiring of Yhwh may in itself be understood as a kind of ritualised behaviour. John Hilber considers the performance of the rituals that accompanied prophetic affirmation of victory in the Egyptian cult. Martti Nissinen looks more broadly at the question whether prophets in the ancient world functioned as ritual performers. Lena-Sofia Tiemeyer investigates the priests' mediating and predictive functions as depicted in the Deuteronomistic History. Alex Jassen argues that Jews in the Second Temple Period perceived the priests and the temple to be a new locus of prophetic activity.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Prophecy was a wide-spread phenomenon in the ancient world - not only in ancient Israel but in the whole Eastern Mediterranean cultural sphere. This is demonstrated by documents from the ancient Near East, that have been the object of Martti Nissinen’s research for more than twenty years. Nissinen's studies have had a formative influence on the study of the prophetic phenomenon. The present volume presents a selection of thirty-one essays, bringing together essential aspects of prophetic divination in the ancient Near East. The first section of the volume discusses prophecy from theoretical perspectives. The second sections contains studies on prophecy in texts from Mari and Assyria and other cuneiform sources. The third section discusses biblical prophecy in its ancient Near Eastern context, while the fourth section focuses on prophets and prophecy in the Hebrew Bible/Old Testament. Even prophecy in the Dead Sea Scrolls is discussed in the fifth section. The articles are essential reading for anyone studying ancient prophetic phenomenon.
