Book Roll to Roll Manufacturing

Download or read book Roll to Roll Manufacturing written by Jehuda Greener and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2018-03-27 with total page 422 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A single-volume resource featuring state-of-the art reviews of key elements of the roll-to-roll manufacturing processing methodology Roll-to-roll (R2R) manufacturing is an important manufacturing technology platform used extensively for mass-producing a host of film-type products in several traditional industries such as printing, silver-halide photography, and paper. Over the last two decades, some of the methodologies and know-how of R2R manufacturing have been extended and adapted in many new technology areas, including microelectronics, display, photovoltaics, and microfluidics. This comprehensive book presents the state-of-the-art unit operations of the R2R manufacturing technology, providing a practical resource for scientists, engineers, and practitioners not familiar with the fundamentals of R2R technology. Roll-to-Roll Manufacturing: Process Elements and Recent Advances reviews new developments in areas such as flexible glass, display, and photovoltaics and covers a number of process innovations implemented recently to extend and improve the capabilities of traditional R2R lines. It covers such topics as: coating and solidification processes, in-line vacuum deposition, drying, web handling and winding, polymer film substrates, novel hybrid composite films, flexible solar cells and more. Additionally, this book: Examines key elements (unit operations) of the R2R technology, and discusses how these elements are utilized and integrated to achieve desired process efficiencies in a host of applications. Illustrates several established and novel application areas where R2R processing is utilized in current or future products. Discusses process design methodology and key advantages of R2R manufacturing technology over batch or sheet-to-sheet operations. Roll-to-Roll Manufacturing: Process Elements and Recent Advances is an ideal book for undergraduate and graduate students in various science and engineering disciplines, as well as for scientists, engineers, and technical and business leaders associated in any way with the development, commercialization, and manufacture of a variety of film products.

Book A Process for Preparing an Assembly of an Article and a Polyimide which Resists Dimensional Change Delamination and Debonding when Exposed to Changes in Temperature

Download or read book A Process for Preparing an Assembly of an Article and a Polyimide which Resists Dimensional Change Delamination and Debonding when Exposed to Changes in Temperature written by Diane M. Stoakley and published by . This book was released on 1991 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "Polyimides have higher coefficients of thermal expansion (CTE) than metals, ceramics, and glasses. By lowering the CTEs of polyimides, there is an increase in their usefulness for aerospace and electronic applications where dimensional stability is a requirement. The CTEs of polyimides have been lowered in the past by linearizing the polymer molecular structure or by controlling the orientation of the polyimide film. By the present invention, an assembly of an article and a low CTE polyimide is prepared. The assembly resists dimensional change, delamination, and debonding when exposed to changes in temperature. A polyamic acid solution was prepared by adding a metal ion-containing additive to the solution. The low CTE polyimide is combined with the article to form the assembly. The novelty of this invention resides in the preparation of an assembly of an article and a polyimide which resists dimensional change, delamination, or debonding when exposed to temperature changes. This is accomplished by lowering the CTE of the polyimide so it more closely matches that of the article by incorporating a metal ion-containing additive into the polyamic acid solution. The additives which were used with the soluble polyimide could not be used in polyamic acid solutions because they caused the polymer to gel. The use of a polyamic acid solution eliminates the step of having to form the imide and redissolve it prior to use."--Page i.

Book Materials for Rigid and Flexible Printed Wiring Boards

Download or read book Materials for Rigid and Flexible Printed Wiring Boards written by Martin W. Jawitz and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2018-10-03 with total page 147 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Complex electronic circuits and devices are flooding applications in nearly every facet of commercial and industrial activity, from automated equipment to all types of consumer products. Proper selection of materials is crucial to meet the end-use requirements of flexible and rigid printed wiring boards. While there are many useful books and articles on the fabrication of printed circuit boards, Materials for Rigid and Flexible Printed Wiring Boards is the first book to detail the properties of the materials used and how they are made. The authors present important manufacturing information and material properties for reinforcement materials, resins, flexible films, copper foils, rigid laminates, high-speed/high-frequency laminates, and metal core and constraining core materials. They offer practical guidance to help designers, engineers, and fabricators choose suitable materials to successfully meet strength, weight, thickness, performance, cost, and other requirements. In most cases, the material data comes directly from manufacturers' data sheets, representing typical values. The book illustrates the comparative strengths and limitations of the materials, highlights their basic properties, and details the manufacturing processes used to make them. Offering practical guidance based on years of experience, Materials for Rigid and Flexible Printed Wiring Boards is a one-stop source of crucial information for anyone designing or building printed circuit boards for any application.
