Book Non Normal Projectile Penetration in Soil and Rock User s Guide for Computer Code PENC02D

Download or read book Non Normal Projectile Penetration in Soil and Rock User s Guide for Computer Code PENC02D written by Daniel C. Creighton and published by . This book was released on 1982 with total page 143 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A computer program called PENCO2D has been developed to analyze the non-normal impact and penetration of any rigid axisymmetric projectile into soil or rock. Horizontal target layering is allowed with accounts made for free-surface, interface, and wake separation-reattachment effects. Expressions for the compressive normal stress presented in U.S. Army Engineer Waterways Experiment Station Technical Report SL-79-15 are summed over the projectile surface, and the equations of motion are integrated step-by-step using a two-dimensional Newtonian integration scheme. Variables and format of PENCO2D's input file, as well as output options, are given. To demonstrate use of PENCO2D, three sample problems are discussed, with setup and output shown. A utility program called MOMENT, which calculates projectile weight, center-of-gravity location, and mass moments of inertia, its presented along with two example calculations. (Author).

Book Empirical Analysis of Projectile Penetration in Rock

Download or read book Empirical Analysis of Projectile Penetration in Rock written by Robert S. Bernard and published by . This book was released on 1977 with total page 26 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The data base consists of normal impact and penetration data for rock (11 tests) and for concrete (12 tests, used as a baseline). The test projectiles had ogive noses, diameters between 76 and 203 mm, masses between 5.9 and 613 kg, and impact velocities from 251 to 809 m/s. The rock penetration equation is given in dimensional form and also in nomogram form. Calculated results are compared with badly scattered bomb penetration data for granite and sandstone. The equation gives about the same result as a least-squares linear fit to the data.

Book Non normal Impact and Penetration

Download or read book Non normal Impact and Penetration written by Robert S. Bernard and published by . This book was released on 1978 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A rigid-projectile penetration analysis has been developed for non- normal impact, based on the Cavity Expansion Theory (CET). A modified version of the AVCO penetration code is used to implement the CET analysis, which is intended for hard targets (rock and concrete) and for small angles of attack (less than 10 degrees). Tentative verification has been obtained by comparison with 3-degree reverse ballistic data. More tests are needed for further verification, but the initial results suggest that the CET analysis can be used by projectile designers to estimate internal and external forces and moments. Appendix A describes the basic assumptions and results of the CET. Appendix B presents the results of a dynamic structural analysis. Appendix C compares lateral accelerations obtained using the CET and AVCO formulations of the force distribution.

Book Concrete Structures Under Projectile Impact

Download or read book Concrete Structures Under Projectile Impact written by Qin Fang and published by Springer. This book was released on 2017-03-22 with total page 584 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this book, the authors present their theoretical, experimental and numerical investigations into concrete structures subjected to projectile and aircraft impacts in recent years. Innovative approaches to analyze the rigid, mass abrasive and eroding projectile penetration and perforation are proposed. Damage and failure analyses of nuclear power plant containments impacted by large commercial aircrafts are numerically and experimentally analyzed. Ultra-high performance concrete materials and structures against the projectile impact are developed and their capacities of resisting projectile impact are evaluated. This book is written for the researchers, engineers and graduate students in the fields of protective structures and terminal ballistics.

Book Lees Loss Prevention in the Process Industries

Download or read book Lees Loss Prevention in the Process Industries written by Frank Lees and published by Butterworth-Heinemann. This book was released on 2012-11-05 with total page 3685 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Safety in the process industries is critical for those who work with chemicals and hazardous substances or processes. The field of loss prevention is, and continues to be, of supreme importance to countless companies, municipalities and governments around the world, and Lees' is a detailed reference to defending against hazards. Recognized as the standard work for chemical and process engineering safety professionals, it provides the most complete collection of information on the theory, practice, design elements, equipment, regulations and laws covering the field of process safety. An entire library of alternative books (and cross-referencing systems) would be needed to replace or improve upon it, but everything of importance to safety professionals, engineers and managers can be found in this all-encompassing three volume reference instead. - The process safety encyclopedia, trusted worldwide for over 30 years - Now available in print and online, to aid searchability and portability - Over 3,600 print pages cover the full scope of process safety and loss prevention, compiling theory, practice, standards, legislation, case studies and lessons learned in one resource as opposed to multiple sources
