Book Probabilistic Analysis of Gas Turbine Field Performance

Download or read book Probabilistic Analysis of Gas Turbine Field Performance written by National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) and published by Createspace Independent Publishing Platform. This book was released on 2018-06-20 with total page 26 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A gas turbine thermodynamic cycle was computationally simulated and probabilistically evaluated in view of the several uncertainties in the performance parameters, which are indices of gas turbine health. Cumulative distribution functions and sensitivity factors were computed for the overall thermal efficiency and net specific power output due to the thermodynamic random variables. These results can be used to quickly identify the most critical design variables in order to optimize the design, enhance performance, increase system availability and make it cost effective. The analysis leads to the selection of the appropriate measurements to be used in the gas turbine health determination and to the identification of both the most critical measurements and parameters. Probabilistic analysis aims at unifying and improving the control and health monitoring of gas turbine aero-engines by increasing the quality and quantity of information available about the engine's health and performance. This book was released on 2018-09-28 with total page 28 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The emergence of fuel cell systems and hybrid fuel cell systems requires the evolution of analysis strategies for evaluating thermodynamic performance. A gas turbine thermodynamic cycle integrated with a fuel cell was computationally simulated and probabilistically evaluated in view of the several uncertainties in the thermodynamic performance parameters. Cumulative distribution functions and sensitivity factors were computed for the overall thermal efficiency and net specific power output due to the uncertainties in the thermodynamic random variables. These results can be used to quickly identify the most critical design variables in order to optimize the design and make it cost effective. The analysis leads to the selection of criteria for gas turbine performance. Gorla, Rama S. R. and Pai, Shantaram S. and Rusick, Jeffrey J. Book Axial Turbine Aerodynamics for Aero engines

Download or read book Axial Turbine Aerodynamics for Aero engines written by Zhengping Zou and published by Springer. This book was released on 2018-01-11 with total page 572 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is a monograph on aerodynamics of aero-engine gas turbines focusing on the new progresses on flow mechanism and design methods in the recent 20 years. Starting with basic principles in aerodynamics and thermodynamics, this book systematically expounds the recent research on mechanisms of flows in axial gas turbines, including high pressure and low pressure turbines, inter-turbine ducts and turbine rear frame ducts, and introduces the classical and innovative numerical evaluation methods in different dimensions. This book also summarizes the latest research achievements in the field of gas turbine aerodynamic design and flow control, and the multidisciplinary conjugate problems involved with gas turbines. This book should be helpful for scientific and technical staffs, college teachers, graduate students, and senior college students, who are involved in research and design of gas turbines.

Book Efficiency Performance and Robustness of Gas Turbines

Download or read book Efficiency Performance and Robustness of Gas Turbines written by Konstantin Volkov and published by BoD – Books on Demand. This book was released on 2012-04-04 with total page 249 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A wide range of issues related to analysis of gas turbines and their engineering applications are considered in the book. Analytical and experimental methods are employed to identify failures and quantify operating conditions and efficiency of gas turbines. Gas turbine engine defect diagnostic and condition monitoring systems, operating conditions of open gas turbines, reduction of jet mixing noise, recovery of exhaust heat from gas turbines, appropriate materials and coatings, ultra micro gas turbines and applications of gas turbines are discussed. The open exchange of scientific results and ideas will hopefully lead to improved reliability of gas turbines.

Book Calibration Methods for Gas Turbine Performance Models

Download or read book Calibration Methods for Gas Turbine Performance Models written by Jürgen Borchardt and published by . This book was released on 2016 with total page 218 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The WIAS software package BOP is used to simulate gas turbine models. In order to make accurate predictions the underlying models need to be calibrated. This study compares different strategies of model calibration. These are the deterministic optimization tools as nonlinear least squares (MSO) and the sparsity promoting variant LASSO, but also the probabilistic (Bayesian) calibration. The latter allows for the quantification of the inherent uncertainty, and it gives rise to a surrogate uncertainty measure in the MSO tool. The implementation details are accompanied with a numerical case study, which highlights the advantages and drawbacks of each of the proposed calibration methods.
